The other long term way is simply to play more Mag and build good habits, with more playtime you will find it easier to judge where you can and cannot do a cheeky engage

Do you know how many times I saw people run a match down doing Peni on Attack, Loki on Attack, onetricks getting banned out, or some fucktard meta support main trying to force jubilee for a few days before they realized she was trash.
