Jet Force Gemini is kino, It could have easily been a NGC or Xbox game, as its mechanics are too advanced for its generation; it would be impossible on PSX or Saturn.

-The bigger the size the more geometry and convergence issues there'll be.
-You don't have to get a Sony
-Curved ones have better geometry (but are older and probably have less inputs)
-Try to get one with component. RGB from consoles can easily be transcoded into component and that will give you a lossless, perfect image with zero lag (because there's no converting of the image which is what causes lag in converters). You can also ad shaders if you want ntsc composite effects.
-This guy sells excellent transcoders for all your retro gaming/emulation requirements, he's based in new zealand so it's not chink rubbish. https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/wakabavideo I have one of his RGB Scart to Component transcoders which i use with my SNES/Megadrive on my CRT TV's.

I really like how it manages saveslots and the shaders.

In 8 and 16 bit era we had slow down, but it wasn't causing a headache. I definitely noticed that bad frame rate on the N64. CRTs soften that blow, but that shit was rough. Playstation didn't feel as bad about it, probably because its less effect in RPGs which it had a lot and racing games/simple games that have to render less, which it also had a lot of.
>>
>>575832685
They slowed down but 30 or 60fps locks were generally the rule. I think 3D gaming and hardware/tech ill-suited for it brought more attention to fps.

Have you considered playing games instead of organizing them? Spending time making elaborate file browsers like this is so cringe. Goycattle behavior.
Also the aspect ratio of those title screens is wrong.
>>
>>575836972
It definitely did for sure. Sprites and the more static images didn't give weird depth. Gen5 it hit hard because of the fluctuations of it. PS1 was spared a bit for being RPG and sim heavy, but outside of better N64 titles it started to be an eyesore. Gen6 tanked it, good devs it was fine they balanced it out with simpler designs like stuff like Armored Core, but Killzone I noticed it badly because while graphically impressive the draw distance was shorter than the snipers range to maintain passable fps. Gen7 I checked out and went PC because the HD gen ran 720 at best without AA for horror show that was Oblivion 'realistic' faces, which were bad even then. Being able to balance draw distance, fps, and graphics was something I never could come back from so past that I don't know how people put up with it. Maybe I just got old and that stuff makes me get headaches now, but I definitely noticed along the way too so you are 100% right.

Emulation preserves not only the games but the full architecture, so one comprehends exactly how the developers and artists engineered the software together.

Playing on an emulator is merely a fortunate byproduct. Recompilations preserve the game itself to deliver it to new generations or exploit modern hardware instead of slavishly mimicking the original silicon. Both pursue the same goal and do not compete.

But I know you only shitposted that esoterica garbage, you mongoloid faggot. No surprise if you are that inferior moron shilling that trash video just to scrounge a meal. Go fuck yourself. Pay an ad or kill yourself.

Not my intention to piss anyone off, but I replayed this game after more than 10 years and my impression remained the same: it's style over substance. Not bad at all, but there's really no reason to play this over any of the 4th gen classics. They tried to make the level design even cheaper than the NES era, with a strict time limit, but with less polish.
>>
>>575951103
Gradius was the best of these.

Honestly don't like its style very much. Definitely looks n feels cheap, but it's a decent 6-7 title. The music's good. All the levels kinda look the same. That Haunted Castle remake from the same team had a very similar vibe, but it's a little better imo. It's a little too easy, though.

Sadly I'm cheating with this approach since I can only get full speed in DSi mode, and with PicoDrive's fast renderer no less. Then again, some emulators on 3DS only run on the newer model, so it's not like it's ENTIRELY cheating.

Look, we don't care about the emudevs drama, just the releases. Anti-profanity rules or whatever in their code? Irrelevant. All that matters is the changelog. Keep the drama to yourselves. Don't bring that negativity here.
Wise up.

Open source is nice because LLMs are good enough to where I can tweak things to my liking as an end user.

Cruel fate. Ah well, at least CD32X Fusion is making amazing progress. Stay tuned for when the latest build eventually supports BlastEm ;)

emulation is dying. the scene is moving to recompilations
>>
>>576022526
Seems like emulation still co-exists with recomps, since the latter's an entirely different animal. Instead of having to fix bugs in emulated CPUs/VDPs/PPUs, now people have to fix bugs on a per-game basis.
>>
>>576023701
sounds like the same thing to me

You'd be right, recomps are HLE emulators on steroids. (Hell, I believe one such 360 recomp tool was built of Xenia)

you can't just recompile a console game for pc, stuff like graphics and audio are radically different between platforms, you're playing some frankenstein abomination of "recompiled" game logic and some literally who's amateur game engine

KEK, I can relate. I'm also trying to use my tokens wisely so my personal DS fork of PicoDrive can surpass JEnesisDS.

I wasn’t a fan of MAME’s icon on RetroArch XMB’s FlatUX theme, so I asked Gemini to create one that mimics the same style or something similar (though I asked in a pretty retarded way; not a fancy & complex nerd prompt) based on the Astro City stick.

It’s not perfect, but it only took about a minute to create. I’m pretty happy with the outcome, and now I understand why graphic designers get so frustrated with AI.
>>
>>576044907
This is the image I told it to use as a guide, and I also showed it another nine icons to match the style. It missed some details and the proportions too, but it’s still good enough.

It took me longer to post this here than it took Gemini to create it, or whatever.

Want something to do for a weekend? Port a 3rd/4th gen console emulator to DS. You'll be surprised with how far you'll be able to get.
>>
>>576045283
That sounds way too complicated for a retard using the free version of Gemini. But I want to try something, I might even try to convince Gemini to port Quake II to the Dreamcast.
>>
>>576046064
>using the free version of Gemini
That tracks. I've used Gemini for coding purposes before, but I can only think of a few instances where it was useful. Gemini expects you to do a lot of commands yourself, wheras Sonnet at the very least guides you in the right direction. (As far as free tiers go, anyway.) Claude's alright as a free user, but it drains tokens fast. Unfortunately I had to paypig for Claude, but Opus 4.8 and higher were well worth using. Opus 5 via cowork was how I was able to get an almost functioning port of PicoDrive to the DS(i).
>>
>>576046310
I’ll try Sonnet, and once I feel comfortable, I’ll upgrade to Opus 5 for some kino retarded shit.
Thanks for the heads up.
>>
>>576048353
No problem! Make sure to use this extension, that way Claude doesn't tell you your session's over out of nowhere. Doesn't even have to be installed as its own extension either, it can be used as a regular userscript with something like Tampermonkey.

I think, despite him cracking the whip like Striker's his slave, they may actually be friends. I dunno, though, he and Stenzek also had polite discourse. Then he started goon-posting and agitating him with edgecases. Maybe when Charles starts unreasonable expecting uprezzing to be perfect in all games, that'll be when the rift grows.

I just wish he actually got into that Portuguese broads DMs and Matt's sister and gave us some Oldboy, Monte Cristo tier revenge (against someone who isn't even Stenzek) kino.
