damn, no create, no mekanism, no modern industrialization, biggest tech mod on the version is ender io and then an industrial craft remake that barely has any differences from the fucking 15 year old mod? I guess there's LTX on this version but damn there's like no large tech mods here, tragedy

Damning. This mod ecosystem is so trash. There is hardly any technical reason why this mod should be incompatible with anything going as far back as 1.12.
Version chasing continues...

>>575812298
Check the download count on popular mods like Jade though. 26.1 and 26.2 version downloads far exceed 1.21.1. Which seems like insanity.

That guy knows how to make mods alright. I'm surprised he's going for guns which there is already plenty of. Lots of modifiers reminds me too much of Stinker's. We'll see, if it has cool animations maybe, which that guy is fully capable of.

>>575835175
Usually the answer is performance. Late game gregtech bases (not just gtnh) usually need you to build five trillion machines connected with pipes and interfaces and conduits and can easily start lagging, so you want to avoid also wasting performance on the engine maintaining a bunch of natural terrain around with mob spawns and shit.

Also, gregtech is basically shitty factorio but in 3D, so the point is just to focus on building your machine spam, while the vanilla minecraft terrain is basically irrelevant and just gets in the way.

Thinking about playing modded Minecraft is so much more fun than actually doing it. Maybe I'm just a learned helplessness slave conditioned against novelty and I've burnt through all of my neuroplasticity and my hormones are fucked up and I need to fucking die already, I don't know. I can reminisce on all the memories of 1.12 TOYMY's I would play when I was younger but can't play through a modpack for more than a few days before getting overwhelmed by doom and anguish after thinking about all the work ahead of me.

>Jade though. 26.1 and 26.2 version downloads far exceed 1.21.1
there's a lot more vanilla or mostly vanilla players on 26.1 and 26.2 than there are modded players in 1.21.1, and jade is definitely up there as a mod that would go in "vanilla+" or "vanilla with just info/ui/performance mods" lists for the latest version, so it's not that crazy to think about really.

>>
>>575910769
Highly recommend the Axiom colour picker tool. You choose a block and it will give you similar coloured blocks. Or a gradient even between two different colours.
It heavily encourages block vomit so use this power sparingly.

>>575936623
I don't lawnbase and I would probably enjoy modded Minecraft far more if I did. When I want to look for something of a specific colour, I search the name of that colour in the standard JEI search mode. How much stupid microdetailing and block paletting would somebody have to do to find this feature useful? The best usecase I could think of for it would be for trying to find a specific item that you forgot the name and mod of.
>>
>>575937930
Having to download Axiom sounds annoying but if I ever truly need it I suppose it's good to know.

>>575948815
The only blocks that have the colour in the name are like, concrete and wool, everything else like quarried stone, diorite, limestone and other blocks with a white to off-white colour don't.
It's usually not a big deal since you can just scroll through JEI, but being able to search properly always seemed like a neat feature.

>>
>>575960491
Fuck yeah holy shit that looks sick as hell dude. Amazing. This trailer is almost as hype as the one for Aero itself. The snapping on the track connections looks fucking incredible, so much better than Steam n Rails tracks which are frustrating as hell since they jitter all over the place and never want to connect. The panel that allows easy placement of rotated blocks is the chef's kiss, fantastic addition.
Been looking forward to this one since the original webm you posted, guy took his sweet time but looks like it was well spent.

>>575963275
Wrong and dumb. Axiom is the greatest and most optimised mod in existence. The colour picker could easily be standalone and it would be better than all the stupid slop in most modpacks already. The pro shit is only if you want to use it on servers where you are admin. You can use it just fine in creative singleplayer and make a create schematic to paste onto the serb. Complaining about keybinds seems retarded when its main key is right shift which is completely fine. I had way more problems on the weeb serb with mods that try to take ALT which is for Create and R which is for JEI. But you know me, EVERY mod gets all its keys unbound from the start and only when it's time to play the mod earnestly then it might get some key assignments.

I'm looking for modpack that is the opposite of "progression-based". Something like pre-adventure update experience, where endgame wasn't clearly detached from early game experience, whereas in nu-minecraft after certain point you essentially become god. I don't think there's anything like that except TOYMYs with one primary tech mod or a multiplayer pack based around PvP like Voltz, where the possibility of getting your entire base nuked and still choosing to start over was at least considered. Thermal and Immersive Eng, in their base states, are still built around the base game experience of doing "real" activities, streamlining and improving the efficiency of them with the machines and equipment that you're working towards, as opposed to getting lost in wiring and piping intestines making shit in quantities which has no practical purpose other than some phoned-in spacecraft or godhood end-goal.

though, i actually prefer 1.12 for non gregtech modpacks, as i can run cleanroom mc, meaning a 400+ modpack takes 50seconds to start and consumes less than 4GB ram
>>
What's that mod called where dropped items go on the floor and you rightclick it to pick it up? I think it disables item despawning too.

I developped for forge since 1.6.4 until 1.16 and fabric since 1.13.

Forge initially felt like fabric, it was easy to use and simple. But as more complex mods started to appear, it started to look like a nuclear powerplant with so many features that it's hard to keep track of what's being added/removed and how things changes constantly.

Sponge answer to it was mixins, later fabric used sponge mixins and created a lightweight modloader. Developping for fabric feels 100x better than for forge. Mixins also have better performance than forge's event api, but make it more difficult for complex mods.

That's the main reasons why fabric mods get updated so fast and why they sometime support snapshots. But taking mixins away from a mods is extremely hard and I can understand why someone would drop forge support because forge is full of bullshit nowadays.

I locked my wife inside our house to prevent her from getting killed by mobs and now she insists on standing on the balcony and looking wistfully out towards the forest where her home village is...

try something with quests, usually it's good to familiarize yourself with mods you always skip or ignore.
recently i discovered that forestry/gendustry were viable options for mid-late game, I hadn't used those mods since ftb ultimate in 1.4.7.

if you're a noob, you should avoid hard modpacks, like gregtech based ones, or modpacks with the 9x9 crafting table bullshit.

Do you make kitchen sink packs when you make your toymys, or tweak them to be interconnected? My toymy right now is mostly kitchen sink, other than I have it so mobs can drop stuff from other mods. I'm thinking about making custom recipes and stuff though, so everything feels less disjoined.
>>
>>576093923
a few of the endgame or really powerful items i like to tweak to take items from later in different mods progressions. also, if i can think of a recipe that would justify making a fun farm or assembly line that would otherwise be useless i'll add that. sometimes that involves interconnecting mods.
having datapacks to make structure mod loot chests contain loot from other mods is also nice.
overall though i make toymy's to have fun building in minecraft. all the mods are just fun sidequests and justifications for buildings, and in create aero's case it's fun to make flying machines and stuff. if i wanted a thoroughly interlinked and well made pack i'd play one made by a way more dedicated autist than me, or a team of autists, and have more fun than what i could make on my own. i'd rather spend 100 hours playing than 100 hours tweaking.

I got it. ItemPhysic or Realistic Item Drops. Also available as client side only which is probably better for performance.
In nearly all packs these mods are annoying as fuck.. However I think it would be quite fun with Scorched Guns, maybe CBC, which like to dump empty casings on the ground after firing. They're annoying to pick up and it might look cool to have big piles of spent casings littered around.

>cleanroom mc
First time hearing of this. Seems cool but I really don't like its seeming reliance on updated "community edition" forks of every popular mod in existence. Fuck "The Community".
>>
>>576097693
what the hell are you talking about anon
all you have to do is copy the minecraft folder from the cleanroom instance and install fugue + scalar legacy
everything else is a bonus

https://cleanroommc.com/wiki/end-user-guide/preparing-your-modpack
I mistook this massive list of "Superseded" mods as being incompatible with Cleanroom. Don't know why the fuck they have all of that here if these mods all work perfectly fine with this new modloader thing, besides apparently being "outdated" (whatever that's supposed to mean in this context) and having cuhmmunatay forks which may or may not completely change core aspects from the originals. Could've hosted this list anywhere else, or at least on a different page of this domain.

those rails look far more powerful than any other rail mod I've seen
>>
>>576100650
most of these are community bugfixes and integrations. 1.12 mods are still being updated, at least their community forks.
>>
>>576100650
"outdated" basically means unoptimized
all the replacements are more optimal but in my experience it's almost always way too much of a pain in the ass to update/add and remove all the extras without crashing
cleanroom alone offers a pretty drastic difference in performance

I miss logging in on the serber after school with my friends more than anything. I hope AI chat bots one day can turn into Minecraft NPC friends to fill that void. Still can't believe that we're almost at 20 years from when Tekkit launched

>>576102118
this, i started this modpack a few months ago
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/enigmatica2expert
and cleanroommc is a really big performance improvement.

also all mods are relatively up to date, I have yet to see a duplicated resource/craft/bug

those were blessed times.
i played on a semi anarchy modded smp on tekkit lite 1.4.7 and it was fire.

One time we managed to get into spawn while they were going to renovate with the laser guns and we just wrecked the whole thing after they turned off greif protection. It was the most fun I've ever had especially as one of the mods were such an asshole all the time for no reason

I miss playing with friends. I tried playing a few packs again but it makes me sad and lonely. I envy solo autists.
>>
>>576103654
and in those 4 months a few dozen add-ons have been made and changed frequently, and some of those add-ons might even be good. there's no point to spending a lot of time and effort on making an expert pack out of a mod in an ecosystem that's changing this rapidly. give it time.

tinkerer's or tetra

>>576108351
Apotheosis
>>
>>576108351
Tetra feels like it was goodgamedesign'd to an unpleasant degree, and I prefer Tinker's presentation anyway. To be fair TCon 3 also feels like it was made by people who were deathly afraid of letting any OP pvp weapons or crazy modifier-abusing tools slip through like they did in the prior versions.
>>
>>576059428
There's a promising modpack called Gamma Files that could be on this vein. Otherwise, have you tried jar mods like Authentic Adventure? I play TheMasterCaver's World ocassionally when I feel minimalist.

apotheosis is the only one one 1.21.1 :P

thoughts on william wythers' overhauled overworld?
>>
>>576130318
I like it, is better than Terralith IMO, easier to traverse and doesn't have any notorily ugly biome, while also having good landscapes. Besides, it has that cool monoliths biome that's a tribute to alpha's monoliths.
