This is the same philosophy that split the three discs of FFVII into a trilogy of games. They desire to achieve something that hasn't been done before. If there was to be an FFVI remake, ideally it would be the entirety of the game with minimal cutbacks. But the word "restraint" is simply not in the books when it comes to mainline production numbered titles. Yoshida is wrong that it would take 5 games but he's just saying the corporate line and "being a realist" instead of admitting that nobody really wants just a reskin of FFVI. They want something more detailed, more extravagant. It wouldn't accomplish anything of note and would simply exist as another option to play a classic game, forever doomed to obscurity. They aren't remaking 5 hour movie games or games for a portable, they're remaking world sprawling epics at scale.

Censorship is still a problem and the overuse of cursing really makes that censorship feel pointless.
