It's hard to find Noelle and Berdly's dynamic compelling because it's just so one-sided, not as in the traditional sense but in terms of writing, the thing with Berdly speaking over Noelle, which besides the fake crush thing, is the main thing going on between them, and it barely if at all says much about Berdly's character, it's there to support Noelle's character and arc about her passivity. You the player feel bad and lament the fact that what has been done cannot be undone but it's good that Alphys finally told the truth instead of exacerbating the issue.A shallower idea of "facing consequences" would be Alphys getting tomatoes thrown at her and she has to go on an apology tour to make up for what she did. I don't think fiction is obligated to enforce retributive justice on a fictional character who chooses to redeem themself. In fact, stories can even be about how people get away with bad decisions and don't suffer at all! Fiction should try to demonstrate the weight of someone's actions and not try to handwave it.
