There are chapters in which you have a clear goal and one, usually two ways of accomplishing it, mostly stuff like "get item1 and item2 to make a potion out of them, there are 1-2 ways to get each of them". You can have a few dialogues with characters in that chapter with some things carrying over. Maybe one of the items is in an area where you fight a few enemies or there's a scripted fight at a specific point. Then you're off to the next chapter where you have another goal and some new events. It's fun but there's almost nothing to replay and you can get all three endings easily from a lategame save.

You can make a talky character one playthrough and a sneaky character another playthrough, this means one chapter the first character gets through the door by passing a dialogue check the other character picks the lock. But they both have the goal of getting through that door and then clicking on things to find certain info because that's the plot of the chapter. It's the kind of thing that's great to go through once or twice but don't imagine Baldur's Gate or something.

I killed Galfrey in act 5 because her nuking my doomstacks I spent a chunk of act 3 building up genuinely fucking pissed me off. By act 5 I was already burning out hard and now I had to rebuild my entire army to fight off all the new demon armies on the map most of them being like a 12 in strength and blocking the path to places I needed to go.
wotr is a shit roleplaying game simply because you can’t kill Galfrey on the spot when she demotes you. If you’re playing as a demon who rages and chimps out there is no chance you wouldn’t kill her on the spot when she takes your leadership away.

Galfrey is a fun character because she asks the question of whether someone can be forgiven incompetence if they're otherwise agreeable.Galfrey wants to save her people, she wants the crusaders to be victorious, she wants to save the kingdom, she wants to be a good leader and lead from the front which is normally an admirable trait for a monarch, she wants to serve her Good aligned god; there are many things to like about Galfrey. She is a good person. But if's and want's don't get results. If if's and but's were candies and nuts, then we'd all have a merry christmas.She's ultimately not suited for the task at hand. She gets your doom stack army killed. She's been barely managing a standstill for decades before you arrive. And ultimately, her clever plan, is to just send you like a missile through the abyss and hope for the best.I think another thing worth considering is that we're comparing her to ourselves, which isn't fair. We kill thousands of demons and raise the armies, but we're pumped full of mythic juice. Normal people can't just go kill a demon that is posing a problem to the army like we can, so we hold it against her when she fails against demons. There may be some unfairness in a comparison to ourselves.I also like that she's overall a good person, but has the very realistic failing of jealousy. She's been doing this for decades and hasn't put up results. Then we stroll in with mysterious powers and just krump demons by the hundreds. I like that they wrote a waifu with a genuine moment of weakness and character flaw, but one that is believable and common. Cam hates poor people and is a serial killer, these are not common. Arue is a recovering serial killer, this is not common. But good old fashioned jealousy? Something every human has to overcome? Good writing.So even if you hate her for her failings, she's still a well written and interesting character, and that's what I like to see in my computer role playing games.

Rogue Trader is an interesting game.. it teaches me something about 40k lore. DoW never did that.The Mechanicus are actually just really fucking stupid, aren't they? They don't understand anything they are doing. Their machine spirits are just AIs, they perform weird rituals that involve swinging lanterns and chanting stuff.. but in the end all they did was flip a switch to make something go. They turn manuals into holy scriptures and whatnot..They are cavemen operating a PC.Just realizing this gave me quite a few keks. I think that's the first thing besides tyranids I like in 40k.This is really funny.
And this dude just runs around with a huge tesla coil that makes machines move cause electricity.. Absolute caveman.
