super mario odyssey is a visual novel and you're all too brainrotted by "gameplay" to see it. press y to talk to a toad and text appears on screen. that's literally a dialogue box. capturing enemies is just picking a route in a fate game except instead of saber you get a goomba with down syndrome. the moons are just checkpoints so you can save your progress through the novel. the postgame dark side is the true ending locked behind grinding all the side routes, and the final payoff is peach telling both of you to get fucked and flying off. that's the exact same emotional gut punch as clannad except clannad had good writing. you call it a platformer because you see mario jump but you're confusing the page turn animation for gameplay. go play your first person shooters which are actually walking sims and your rpgs which are actually spreadsheet managers and let the adults discuss real literature.
