Yes the sustain is way better with necro due to ghost. Damage rotations being only living death or omni guard spec alternating between fingers and basics hurts a lot. Especially at bosses like zammy where you can get locked out of using skulls on p7 if he doesn't call B rune. But it's good enough for the vast majority of pvm in the game and most other styles only really matter if you're going for combat achievements, want to sweat harder, or get some variety.
