What you really want to do to easily farm materials for bonding early on is focus on getting affection high with Barghest and Lampas.Most demons have an item that lets you fight against their kin again if you equip it. You can repeat the battles for money and a small chance of an item, but once affection is at 80 or above, you can use persuade to instantly win and they'll give you a guaranteed item different from their drop and cash. It's easier now that they added a ring in Hyakki's shop that makes you put your weapon away at the start of battle, allowing you to persuade them first turn.Barghest is the best for meat but sadly persuading Lampas gives you an item that can't be sold, so if you want emeralds from her you have to fight her and cross your fingers. Or if you want a slower and safe way, you can farm Lampas persuade since she's your best choice for cash right now. Then you buy rocks and use 10 rocks to craft an emerald, but it's 1000 yen a rock.It gets easier to get items from Barghest, Lampas and other demons as you grow stronger, but I assume you want to bond with Iron Maiden as soon as possible.
