Like in Dawnforger you don't need to know all the particulars of the story so far, just that there's this place called Mokosh and you wanna sell tomatoes. Everything else just unfolds naturally, with or without you knowing all the complexities.Compared to Nikke which not only has main story events but actively locks them behind farming keys and takes even longer to add them to the archive, and compared to Genshin which solves the issue by having nothing of any consequence ever happen in their events, Exilium does pretty okay I think. It's a flaw in the gacha model and they navigate it better than most.
