This is subtle and that’s exactly why it's good. Sonic's "Or else I'm gonna tell you ten more cool things about my partner here!" is legitimately a threat to Shadow, it's a deliberate psychological jab. Shadow despises the feelings more than the physical pain. He knows hearing about Yuta will get under Shadow's skin because he knows who Shadow is. He can read people. It worked, Shadow zones out for a split second mid-fight and jobs because of it. Sonic almost certainly knew exactly what he was doing. A little cruel, but Shadow was lashing out at Yuta beforehand and it must've pissed Sonic off enough. The more I read the manga, the more I like it. Anyone equating this to “Westdow randomly fights Sonic for zero reason and jobs like a bitch” isn't engaging with the scene. No amount of explaining will fix basic media illiteracy. I hope we get more JP content like this in the future too.
