Alright.Limbus LeaguePlayers are divided into teams of X size with one manager per team.The rest are sinners.To keep things simple we will use only base ids.Instead of points, sinners will aim to generate sin affinities by winning with certain meld types.Mahjong rules are setup to make them last long (need tons of points to win thus likely forcing west wind)Teams face off 1v1 in 2v2 team matches.Sin affinities are generated as follows.Wrath - 1 point per manzu meldLust - 1 point per open meldSloth - 1 point per closed meldGluttony - 1 point per souzu meldGloom - 1 point per pinzu meldPride - 1 point per honor TILEEnvy - 1 point per ENEMY meld with doraAfter each round the person who gets won can attack an opponent. They can attack twice on tsumo if they have the resources.Attacks and targets are determined by manager at round start pause.Damage and effects of attack are based on the limbus id being used . Each id will have three attacks to choose from.Once a sinner dies game ends and that team gets a KO point (scoring is like golf where you don't want points).Dead sinners cannot play consecutively and take three games on the bench to return to full HP. Almost everything you know about tile efficiency, yaku approach, and reading transfers over.Obviously, the main thing that differs is push-fold (and hand speed reading). That constitutes ~80% of mahjong strategy, but it's possible to transfer over too.If you can recognize that a A-class ryanmen mangan tenpai hand can be folded against riichi at a suji count of 10 in sanma, there's nothing stopping you from being able to adjust your expectations to yonma (e.g. folding that hand at a suji count of 15 instead) by assiduously studying bots.All the conceptual mechanisms used in mahjong (suji counting, tedashi reading, smelling open hand / damaten danger, etc) are the same, so your brain apply it to both modes with experience. The willpower to fold is an underrated part of mahjong strategy, and sanma trains one to give up hands at an even higher frequency. There’s a humongous amount of information given to you every turn, and you can’t avoid strengthening your subconsciousness / intuition with experience. Can you imagine learning how to memorize tedashi if you only play 10 hanchans a year? You can either be a 10000 game adept, or the Hopeless Girl on the Path of Houou, if you don’t balance yourself.These are all things I would have said to my league teammates for the goal of winning, but maybe it’s overbearing.For that particular WWYD, the bots are happier to give up the chance to kan 2m in order to not give opponents an additional safe tile with nakasuji 6m. 7m does not make 14m safer. Based on WWYDs like in the chan series, I assumed that allowing the ankan would be the default decision, so I learnt something new. If I have 6 blocks and two of them are penchan I'll usually keep them over floating tiles and hope to complete or at least improve one of the two before dropping the other and locking in my five blocks. Kanchan are better because they're much easier to upgrade so practically never cut those in favor of a floating tile. If you don't know if you should keep a kanchan over a pair, the golden rule is that you want 2 pair blocks in your hand and 3 pairs is the absolute worst amount of pairs to have, at 4 pairs you can start considering chiitoi depending on your shapes.RMS and wwyd-chan1 are both very good books for figuring out these decisions (and good books in general).
