I've noticed pre-paid credit cards are hit and miss on most sites. Best Buy, Humble Bundle, and Amazon tend to usually accept them. Stores like Target and Walmart not so much.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddbxFi3-UO4 I mean, if you think about it, this Bach fugue is basically a lead melody, and one counter-melody that's more like a bass, and sometimes a line that acts like a pad, or three lines that make up a chord. The reason Sweden sucks is that they imported too many shitskins and the country now has shitskin ghettos where police cannot keep the order. The country is being lost, slowly but it seems inevitable. Swedes are such cucks that they can't resist. They won't pick up arms to defend their home. Their leadership hates the Swedes as much as kikes hate whites.

I'm not sure how bad it is for the rest of Europe. My country hasn't been lost to the shitskins yet but I see a worrying amount of them when I am outside. I don't think there is a peaceful ending to this immigration policy. They will not integrate. They would rather turn the countries they go to into shitholes like their home country. That's the way of the shitskin.

i think the reason i can't find anything to play is because games try too much and have become too weird and complicated. and the games that try to focus are too ugly. i think the best combo is simple gameplay with a nice theme/art direction/soundtrack.

man i know this is a shitty over-simplified opinion to have, but it's the only way i can explain why i reject so many games.

maybe an example would be mmorpgs. in an old mmorpg i spawn in some random town, i have 0 gear and 0 gold. i have no quest markers. i just start walking around, maybe going out of town, killing some monsters getting gold and gear. finding some npcs that give me kill quests. that's it. it's very simple.

nowadays, i join an mmorpg, i have to do a whole tutorial quest first. then i get told to go there and there and walk from npc to npc. levels of mobs scale with you. stuff is hidden behind weird mechanics (can't just get rare loot dropped, you have to craft it or unlock it with other weird mechanics where you have to gather a lot of shit), most of the time you don't even know how anything works. then the map also has no clear progression, you are supposed to go "anywhere you want". ofc it's still managable to understand everything, but it feels like extra steps are added to everything that is just annoying.

maybe it's true that old mmorpgs had problems that need to be fixed, but maybe it all just went in the wrong direction. that it isn't fixed by putting more stuff into it.

ah fuck it man, what the hell is wrong with gaming? someone needs to find out... maybe its just that devs are fucking scared? e.g. no dev would try to make an mmorpg with an end goal that resets the server when the final boss was killed (sword art online like) - or they wouldn't dare to make role-based games again where a healer really is a healer only, cause they want player self-agency. maybe the "fix" is brutal gamedesign decisions that are scary. e.g. 2b2t gets so much attention on youtube
>>
Exhausted. Had a terrible day and have a slight headache but I did get progress done. Since a lot of my system now need to be automated, that's what I worked on. Reworked one script a lot. Very little issues in the end, one bug and one poor design to fix. I'm tired of the hardships in life and gamedev.

It’s because games are too long now. Which is because of Skyrim creating a map size arms race.
I’ve had much more fun lately just once a month or two playing something front to back in a weekend or even a single day, that’s less than 15 or 20 hours of total runtime. The decisions and failure modes can be extreme because the whiny people can just play again or reload and have the stupid smooth-corners experience they want.
Game stores need to add a filter for runtime. They haven’t added it because they (1) are too lazy to deal with edge cases like match/online games not having a runtime, and (2) they mistakenly think people have zero desire for short games and infinite appetite for infinitely long games, because the “community” is full of unemployed and college-age Redditors that talk about insane nonsense like the “hours per dollar” of a game.
>>
>>579163140
driving is probably one of the easiest genres to find the fun, then you only have to draw the rest of the owl.
>>
>>579170624
matches my point that maybe devs are scared.

to some degree schedule 1 actually hit the nail "just jump in, plant some drugs, sell them, progress".

also imagine running an arcade with modern games, you'd need to give people a 2 hour tutorial how to play the game before they can start. back then you just sit in the seat and start driving laps. or just start pressing two buttons in street fighter.

the thing is also that i just want to fucking have fun and chill when gaming.

>>
>>579169841
>but maybe it all just went in the wrong direction
It absolutely did. Starting with WoW MMORPGs focused on making it a handheld experience where the player can't get lost. They baby the player every step of the way and shove huge indicators on their face for whatever they're supposed to be doing at the time. They killed the sense of adventure and wonder that old MMORPGs had. I think that applies to AAA games as well in a more general sense and indies have also been going through some dumbing down to reach a wider audience.
>maybe its just that devs are fucking scared?
That's definitely part of it. The larger the budget the less likely they are to experiment. Even in the indie space a lot of devs go and copy instead of trying to do anything different. Very few have the balls to be different. Some of those who do end up creating new trends, new meta.
>>
gamedev is like art. people just want a nice looking painting for their living room, yet the artist wants to do something ground breaking.
gamers just want a chill fun time, yet the dev wants to revolutionize ground breaking blah
maybe "i just wanted to restore childhood memories with that game" is a good middle ground.

62 days left, I owe 40 hours of work. Yesterday I was completely ineffective. I was making an art asset that I'd reasonably expect to work 20-30 minutes on, but it took 5 hours and it still doesn't look acceptable. So that's what I'll continue wrestling with today.

Tried combolands.
I have an issue with the stats. your basic stat is points. basic buildings give points.
but then they add boost buildings that aid basic buildings.
then they add buildings that give you two subresources, and other buildings that use tier 2 buildings to trigger themselves, and gain points.

I don't like this stat spam complexity for the sake of it. I don't think measuring 5 types of stats and searching for the most optimized spot on the map doing mental calculus is fun.

no that's not the right way of looking at things. more does not make things automatically better. you need to get into the mindset of making things elegant instead. like you can probably think of a billion things to add to vampire survivors that sounds cool but wouldn't actually matter in the end. games should be built around constraints and rules, not about how much shit you think you can fit into it.

my urge to dev seems to be simply from wanting my own version of existing games that took a direction that i don't like. but it seems like a bad urge, cause it's not really an urge to dev, it's basically an urge to play that gets redirected to fixing what i want to play.
i keep thinking so often to just rip the game files and make my own version, but what's the point of putting so much work into something that you can't even share for free cause of copyright issues?
>>
>>579182579
interesting, sounds like you would enjoy modding
my urge to dev comes from the intrinsic desire to make cool ideas i have for games become real
think of a cool idea, make it real
i need money to sustain this though, i enjoy gamedev enough to aspire for it to be a full time pursuit

“We had this joke of, like, how much is a game really? In a player’s mind, what does it mean to spend five bucks? Well, that’s five bucks. But six bucks? Well, that’s still five bucks. Four bucks is also kind of five bucks. Three bucks is two bucks. And two bucks is basically free.

“So we’ve got these tiers: You know, twelve bucks… that’s ten bucks. But thirteen bucks is fifteen bucks. “And we found that eight bucks is still five bucks. It doesn’t become ten bucks. Seven ninety nine, that’s five bucks, right?

Hey there guys. I'm 29 and I work on a job that puts me in the 2% richest of my country (though it would be 25% poorest in USA, lol). Game dev isn't a real possibility around here, but that's what I've always wanted to do, even since I was 7 and was asked, for the first time, what I wanted to be when I grew up. Now that I have food and living expenses covered up, I can maybe take it as a hobby.
I work something like 52 hours a week, maybe more, so I don't have much free time at all. I want to start making some prototypes, some simple stuff to have fun and get some fundamentals going. Maybe some day in the future, when I'm 50 years old and broken I can make a nice game then.
So what engine should I use? I'd prefer to not learn coding for now since I don't have much time. I've made levels in Little Big Planet 2 and some simple games on Dreams (PS4) before, so I'm used to visual programming. Could you guys recommend me somewhere I can start? Should I use godot, gdevelop, construct, unity? Or should I just jump into UE5 blueprints so I can have a higher ceiling?

I mean the chances of someone seeing your game and being intrigued enough to actually dedicate months to cloning it should indicate to you that you have something worth playing, no? You already have a head start, if they end up beating you to the punch then that's kinda on you.
That said there's 100's of games released everyday, you ain't that special.

If you're playing this on the long run (+10 years), I'd just learn code. My biggest regret is wasting 2 years with UE4 blueprints before finally biting the bullet, and a lot more possibilities opened once I learned how to code normally. You can start with simple stuff like Godot's GDscript or Python or even a webgame in javascript or something. You could mess around with RPGMaker if you like those kind of games for example.
But if it really seems too scary and you just want to get your feet wet, go ahead and try UE5 with blueprints. This is a years long endeavor anyway, if you'll stick with it you'll probably try every engine for at least a couple of months at some point. I know I did.
>>
>>579190867
Can you learn game design through playing games? Sure. When it comes to most wannabe devs, will they learn game design from playing games? No, probably not.

To learn game design through playing it takes a different sort of approach to gaming. You have to be analytic and capable of understanding what goes on under the hood. And even if you come to form somewhat of an understanding of why a specific game feels good to you that doesn't mean you'll be able to recreate it in your game. Something as simple as attacking the enemy can be extremely hard to get right. You might think that okay it's animation, timing and feedback. But even if you understand can you implement it so that it feels good? Most can't which is why they make shitty feeling games.
>>
>>579198635
What next fest are you participating in? 2 months before that.
>>
>>579200873
Use Unity. Don't worry about your choice. Just stick with it. People will try to scare you off. Grass isn't greener. Every engine sucks in their own way.

Also learn to code. Actually learn C# without Unity to get started. Focus on understanding the programming logic. You can't make anything if you don't understand the logic.

Proggys.

Posting with pic of most recently finished level, as most of the progress lately has been tedious background stuff.
-Added a new item type: enchanted oil. Loading your lamp with this stuff makes it give you benefits while the lamp is lit, like lower/higher encounter rate, invis to bigger monsters, faster travel rate.
-Added new item types: botanical, geological, arcane treasures. Very rare, and only found by those with guild training, extremely valuable. Can be sold for extra money, or donated to the guild for big progress and display in the shiny shit museum.
-Adjusted a bunch of materials to be less reactant to level lighting, making them far more visible during low light and less big color swings.
-Wrote out the logic for tracking what nodes and minibosses have been completed in a level, which causes them to not respawn for a week or two (actual period not final)
-Finishing up work on save system, should be implemented fully soon.
-A bunch of tedious work on transferring anims to the new playable races: Specters and Zombies. They should have the full suite of completed anims and montages now.
-Added a bunch of new sfx for various footsteps on terrain, adjusted the extant ones to be less obnoxious.

Pre-alpha build is stable and running well, next up is debugging all the stuff and making sure systems are working as intended.

How long: That one's kind hard to answer. Started futzing around with the intent to do this like 5 years ago. First two years wasn't really active development, just fucking around learning the engine and 3d modeling and texturing. Active development maybe two years, aggressively part-time tho.

How far along: As of this week, it's feature complete outside of stretch goals. Needs a few few debugging passes to clean it up and an alpha demo build is around the corner.

There's usually multiple different types of playtests, so the verbage may be getting polluted there.
It's usually:
F&F Playtest: Special playtest for friends and family so they can hugbox you and make you feel happy and special.
Debug / QA Playtests: This playtest is what it says on the box. Played by people to break the game so you can fix ahead of ship.
Actual Playtest: This is the one your publisher probably means. Done by a selected group of people to see market viability and get feedback on what a nice mix of fans and normies have to say. Usually the last chance to get feedback and change a few things before launch. This is also usually where they send it out to the gaming youtubers and such to drum up attention.

1. Playing an instrument is learning music, or a good enough approximation of it for most use cases.
2. If you have a good enough ear you don't need to read sheet music to learn the circle of 5ths, chord progressions, modes, etc.
3. Nobody wants to hear you explain what a tri-tone sub is when you whip out your guitar, just put the Wonderwall in the bag lil bro

I havent worked on my game meaningfully in over 2 months. I just played silksong, then hollow knight, then mario galaxy 2. i will give reviews if anyone asks in my next informational post so i dont get banned for offtopic behavior. i just lost all purpose in my life, and i felt like a joke every time i worked on my game.

AI also made me lose my passion for the game. I used AI for the terrain generation, and it made me feel like it was no longer my game. I guess I took pride in my codebase before Claude mogged me. There are things I ahve no problem having claude do, like json parsing, or chores i have no interest in. I just need a rule not to let it define a system.
I'm gonna dial back the AI, return so i can be a happy snailcat.

I think it's painful. It just brings me a lot of pain and suffering to work on this thing. But I'll work on get back to it, I want a win.

tldr: got mogged by ai, got depressed and stopped working
>>
>>579216391

youre right, i got bothered and couldnt let it go. I was using claude for a while, it improved my progress quite well, its just that i became overly reliant on the thing. >>
>>579216907
You have to up your standards. Some stupid fucking terrain isn't going to define the heart and soul of your game. Let AI handle that grocery store bullshit.
You think AI can do the level design on the level of Mario Galaxy? no, but it can certainly handle all the gravity and one off gimmicks programming, and probably generate all the assets too. That frees you up for the real work.
>>
>>579217704
>Something about the product no longer felt like my own
I mean that's a stupid way to look at it if you're using any libraries etc for graphics/network/audio. Unless you're Handmade tier autist, then your game already was in large part not yours.
>>
really elaborate excuse to rationalize wanting to be lazy, just be honest with yourself lil bro

>>579216907
The way I think about it, AI can do the gruntwork that isn't fun for me, so I can focus on the fun stuff like enemy design and writing the story. It is a weird feeling not knowing the code base by heart but I used to work in big tech so I'm used to collaborating on code with others.

>>579217869
There's quite a big difference between most of the code not being yours and the method that is being used to blit an image to the screen not being yours. Arguments like these that try to liken what AI does for you to things that already exist always seem to miss something crucial.
Nothing is truly made from scratch, sure, but this is getting near a very reductionist perspective.

I think I am goinna improve the idea of chicuelas from 512 to something like 32.

Something like 25 based on IRL races, and then 12 based on fantasy races.

A more manageable number means I can hand craft the entire set, rather than using AI.

I think 48 is a good number.

I had the idea where the MC is the reincarnation of the god of chaos, so he's like a trickster character, who wants to do tricks and cause trouble to others.

Basically he's also the sun god, so he's naturally more powerful than the other gods.

But my plot twist is that the rest of the pantheom are girls, which happens to be shapeshifters and can change their age from lolis to milfs.

So basically the story is this MC which is khaos, causing troubles and devicing tricks to the rest of girls.

But these girls are basically his daughters of previous reincarnations, and they have to make him "spend" his sun energy into them.

So they basically also feed from his energy, which causes him to be lethargic and sleepy.

So the entire chapter is basically he recovers his energy, which causes the day to being, he starts doing silly things in his celestial town, which causes the girls, which symbolizes nature forces and plants to feed on his energy, until he loses strenght and night begins.

Start hustling. It's 2026, anyone can make a game now. Only people with drive can sell it. Make a plan with daily tasks and execute. What the schizo fails to comprehend is that they did the big three of gambling sites in one video which (if what he said had any merit to it) would be a major violation of a "non compete clause" that would be baked into any agreement Betz would have to have sign. Meaning that all three betting sites would be able to reclaim their money as they paid for their sole sponsorship of the video. Obviously none of this happened because it's a joke but don't tell him that. That would mean admitting he was wrong.

The game mode now has an intro and outro which loops back to the main menu when the game is finished. The scoring updates ui, fighters have different GI colour and the cpu is getting better at moving away from the corner if the fight moves to the edge of the stage. It may be a little bare bones but I think I'll have something for DD70. I like to add a couple more moves (there's only 2 punches and 2 kicks so far) and hopefully improve the cpu movement a little.

There isn't a specific "run & gun" tag on Steam, so it's hard to filter them, but here are just the ones that tagged themselves as Platformer or 2D Platformer + SHMUP. Interestingly enough, our own FISH is the highest rated release this year.

https://steamdb.info/instantsearch/?refinementList%5Btags%5D%5B0%5D=Shoot%20%27Em%20Up&refinementList%5Btags%5D%5B1%5D=Platformer&refinementList%5BreleaseYear%5D%5B0%5D=2026

That raises your game onto a different level. It might not be as good. It might not look as good. But it has co-op which opens it up to an audience who wanted the other game but with co-op. Or those that happen to be looking for a co-op game and your game interests them. The other game was never an option if they're looking for co-op.

Steam should just use one of the many AI image detection softwares and let it run through all the uploaded decompiled assets. These detectors get constantly updated (when newest best image generator gets released it starts to figure out the signs after like a month or so) and their accuracy is roughly in around 80-70%. If most of the assets are detected to be AI generated then it automatically slaps the AI disclosure on your game. Sure you can edit the synth ID away and when you do bunch of photoshop editing with the image the generator will stop recognising it as AI image, but it’s still good enough to filter out 90% of the jeets that just make the AI do as much of it unsupervised.

You dont understand. The thing that makes AI games stick out is different then the AI art, and because of the way vibe-coding was developed there was no smooth transition between melted 7 finger people with eye nipples into molten Pixar style and then into whatever it is now. AI games sort of just appeared out of nowhere with kinds of UI styles that you can’t really tell are AI unless you yourself have fucked around with HTML free vibecoding or you willingly went on Twitter and looked at the vibecoding scene there. It’s only good that vibecoders are fucking retards and don’t make their games in engines, instead they just use fucking HTML and three.js because they are too fucking lazy to make and double check Tripo or Meshy 3D models or to bother clicking at things in the engine build for humans to dev in. If you are even little bit in the know you will know that every game made in three.js or Unreal 6 will be AI while everything else won’t.

UE4 was such a good game engine that the whole AAA industry jumped on the bandwagon and switched to Unreal Engine, but when they were switching UE5 released. tag stateful objects with "Serializable"

var serialized_data := {}
func save/load - custom implementation per object

on save/load get the data and all serializables, process it
now the only problem is if I want to expand the object after launching the game.
This is for dynamic objects/entities throughout the map. character data/game progress are handled separately.
good idea or nah?
>>
>>579281171
How'd you repay the 1200 hours of work that you owed when I had last popped in to the thread?
>>
>>579290859
I honestly don't follow exactly what you're trying to to do but it seems like you have the right idea maybe just not the exact structure. Would also help if you said what language this was.

Like one thing I'm unclear on, when you say expand the object after making the game are you saying you might want new fields on the object that arise through gameplay? If that's your issue then what you need is some kind of dynamic collection on serializable objects, something like an array of objects or a dict of objects or even string constants if that's easier for what you're doing, if you do that just make sure you define them first for safety.

>This is for dynamic objects/entities throughout the map. character data/game progress are handled separately.

In general a good pattern to follow is: Things that never change are read only blueprints. Things that will change are serializable objects. I'm a little confused by you saying character data ISN'T dynamic, I feel like it would be no? This is actually one of your distinctions that's confusing me the most. Player/save and any objects in game you want to serialize data should also be a serializable object made from a starting blueprint you never touch again (because you're saving the changes in the object.). One thing to consider, if that's why you want your object/entities to be 'dynamic' so that you can say, destroy a wall leave the area come back and it's still destroyed, you don't need a while object for that, you can save it in the save data as a flag or something. The only time maybe you wouldn't is if there's a REALLY large number of dynamic entities to save you might want it to have it's own file like world_state or something but it would still be a part of the player's save file.

Nail down what you want to save across sessions/scenes/unloads/whatever, then figure out the easiest way to save all of it at once as a part of a save file (what you're calling game progress) is what I would do.

I separated 'world objects' from player data because they'd use two different systems, player data is set directly, world objects get set data by their uid (godot), because they get changed more during development.
It seems like a flexible system is better while you're making the game, then you create the set of rigid flags when you near release.
>you might want new fields on the object that arise through gameplay?
Yes, that's it.
I can add anything to the script in engine, set defaults. then the save data tries writing/saving. but checks whether the property exists firsts.
first save writes the defaults/current state. then loads can parse the new data as well. I guess this solves it.

>>579292582
>I separated 'world objects'
That's completely fine I should have been clear that, that part was more my preference than the rest of it. Lots of real games have world_state and player_state or something similar.
>player data is set directly, world objects get set data by their uid (godot), because they get changed more during development.
I don't know exactly what changes you mean but there are ways to design your objects so that changing them mean minimal touching of anything anywhere and this
>world objects get set data by their uid (godot)
Is actually kind of bad practice. It goes against the pattern I recommended, which of course you can do but there's a reason so many games use the flyweight pattern I suggested. If you're using UID it sounds like you're saving the changes to objects to disk? You shouldn't need to do that, your save data is scattered across files. You should probably be making a custom resource that exports its values to the editor then using it to make reusable .tres files, if you need to change something you just edit the .tres file in the Godot editor, easiest way I can think of to be making changes often. Need something new that's similar but different? Make a new tres file from your custom resource. There are lots of tutorials on exactly this. The only pitfall is you need to make sure you understand how .tres files work when it comes to making copies of them.
>It seems like a flexible system is better while you're making the game, then you create the set of rigid flags when you near release.
It really does come down to preference. I would not do this but if it works for you do what works for you. To me having one file of boolean flags seems pretty easy to look over and edit though.

On the dynamic collections, you're hitting on a real problem a lot of people encounter in this kind of game coding. The topic you need help with is often called the property bag pattern if you need to search more about how to solve various issues.

Wait, really? Wouldn't it be 100 times easier to just do something in Unity or whatever? There would also be way more material to train an AI on.

damn. good job. lucky.
indie games hub won't post my trailer.

anyway since I'm here I might as well post progress

just finished 2+ weeks of debugging and fixing issues reported but it was about time the imps had more than one expression
I've changed them so they no longer grab the player if the player hasn't hurt them yet (which is very annoying) but to make it clear they're in grab-mode, they've got different arm poses / expressions

I honestly think people don't hate AI games, they hate low effort AI shit.

I hate low effort anything, AI or not. are you working on your laziness cris? you're not getting any younger!

Does that mean I can use AI to generate the story for my VN?

my favorite part is actually the ribbons
one imp attacks in a +-shaped pattern after moving, the other attacks in an x-shaped pattern
the other two just move once / twice

to be fair in this case it's not the art that gives it away, it's the user interface
for some reason when you ask AI to make HTML UI mockup, it always creates interfaces that look very similar to each other
it's like unless you explicitly tell it the color palette, spacing, borders etc, it always defaults to the same style
>>
>>579295567
E33, Deadlock. Basically all recent AA and AAA games are AI coded with oversight too.
>>
>>579296068

Both just used it for art props. I'm talking about a proudly "vibe coded" game that gen'd everything

Pretty easy to say if they used it on one thing we could spot, they used it basically everywhere but corrected mistakes and checked over things.

Basically every professional developer (in gaming or otherwise) is using AI to do menial tasks and save time. They're also skilled though and can correct mistakes, redraw, fix code, etc. We even have famous schizo devs like Notch using AI now even though he's obviously skilled enough to go without.
>>
John fucking Carmack is using AI.

>>
>>579296770
I don't know why people insist on conflating pervasiveness with quality.
But anyway, "high-quality" "AI" games can't actually exist then, because they still require extensive competent oversight.
>>
>>579296925
yes, why would he not? AI is as dumb or as smart as you are, if you are the smartest programmer in the world and give AI proper prompt detailing data structures, code architecture, and algorithms you will get high quality code but faster

Why do you think there's some line drawn if you do oversight on the AI? Even people who have zero skills using AI are doing oversight.

>2005 mmorpg looks (waaay) better than 2026 indie game
what does this mean? that it's all about budget? no amount of tools can replace an artist (yet) i guess.
actually old mmorpgs blow my mind, so many meshes, so many ideas, so many textures. and they didn't even have substance painter, pbr libraries, kitbash and all of that stuff. to imagine they made all of this with nothing but maya and photoshop is insane.
>>
>>579297220
The narrative pushed by bag-holders is that AI is still a work in progress. Lots of AI models have warnings on them that they're not completely accurate and require some kind of oversight.

Would be cool if you could use it without correcting things sometimes. It is still impossible to completely generate a game with AI without you correcting it obviously but it's still a useful tool and I would be using it to do mundane things you hate doing/saving time.
>>
>>579297379
big problem with modern game developers is they're losing a natural sense for aesthetics that came naturally to devs of the past.
>>
sam altman having a meltie about elon taking over cursor
>>
>>579297446
>is that AI is still a work in progress.
only when it or its products gets critiqued, which is the problem.
>>
>>579297379
Massive works require lotsa workers
Budget is a way of getting lotsa workers
If you can get lotsa workers without budget you can create massive works without budget
Indie devs work in small groups without lotsa workers
>>
AI is a tool, obviously retarded neets cannot use a hammer to build anything, therefor cannot use AI for software programming

it's that simple
>>
>>579297379
Not sure what you're expecting here. 2005 MMO has giant team, big budget, etc. 2026 indie game is usually small team, small budget, not as many skilled people involved.
>>
>>579297562
I don't think there's going to be a day in our lifetimes at least where people stop critiquing the models and demanding improvements.
>>
>>579297459
You guys must be played different retro indie games than me because the ones I played did not have good aesthetics at all

god half the thread is filtered again

please don't be like those retards that are apparently in gamedev for 10 years and then they upload their finished game and use AI text for all their marketing, store description, game description etc
it makes me want to vomit that people can apparently spend months or years on a game but can't take 10 seconds of their time to describe their own game in their own fucking words what the fuck is wrong with the human race

i think the typical indie dev desperation comes from having false ideas. a realistic indie dev would make small free games or find a team to work on bigger games. but the whole indie dev community runs on ideology (games should be perfect, run perfect, made alone, cheap without dlc, made with free software, working hard etc.)

there aren't many people following what works, most people desperately try to make something work the way they believe it should work and fail miserably.

>>579298580
Yeah, it's gross when women use gpt to make their dating app bio. not that i'm getting any either way.

is there a market for text-based (really no visuals) porn rpgs? basically e.g. an isekai and you meet different people and there are really naughty elves or so offering to suck your dick after you helped them with a quest?
i could make prompt slop for visuals, but from my experience this always scope creeps and you need more and more and more visuals. especially if you want to go fully creative.

I'm talking about a game that looks like (besides the fact I see AI generated text used for simple one-line instructions in-game, and that it's probably vibe coded) an actual game someone put effort into

I don't care about games that are 100% slop because those had no chance either way

a slop game is competing with games that have 10,000 man-hours put into it

you can slop the assets but you can't trade away the time put into research, development, fine-tuning, trial and error until things are fun, etc etc
>>
>>579280697
Ok, then at least vibecode more then half of it so you don’t have to kill yourself

AI style is just mishmash imitation of what millions of humans made coupled with whatever the reinforcement learning trainers liked, and some people were closer to the mean with their style.
>>
>>579295950
Almost as if it’s the same fucking model with same fucking default answers. I gave the model 1 superhero image and told it to fill the image with 4 more hero’s just for funnies, and every single time it picked leaf/nature themed hero on the left, original hero next to it, cyborg hero with blue Color’s in the middle, fire hero in right center, and on far right purple lightning hero. When I reprinted it it produced nearly identical outcomes down to the poses with just face variations and hand position variations. Unless specified it will produce similar output or hallucinate like crazy.
>>
>>579296068
>E33
>Deadlock
>AI
E33 used AI for handful of placeholders and to make some background meaningless textures. Deadlock used vibecoding only in recent updates since it no longer sucks and as for assets they only used it for conceptart photobashing, and even that one in unconfirmed rumour.
