From what I understand the passive will only try and make an ult attack once per turn, so you purposely trigger use the ult at turn 4 when it already has 3 charges to trick it into trying to make another charge, which is then wasted. Since now it won't try and make another ult charge that turn it means the turn 4 damage rolls into turn 5.
