The truth is, Star Wars: Zero Company meets my personal definition of a CRPG. It's a surprisingly great game, new, topical, and this is a fitting place to discuss it. So I will. When I get finished, I'll resume my final run of VTMB2 and post it here. Or I'll begin playing Dawnbreaker, which looks like a CRPG to me and I'll post it here. I had toyed with the idea of doing a Cyberpunk run for /crpgg/ viewing pleasure, and who knows - maybe I will. I'd love to blog The Witcher 3 for you too, but I'll probably wait for the new expansion so I can do it all in one go. I love the build synergy in this game, all the subtle ways primary and secondary classes and weapon choice and party comp and 'the den' all come together. I love how reactive everything is, gameplay mechanics is often divorced from story mechanics in these games but here companions can actually have their opinions influenced by something as simple as whether or not you heal them in a fight. You can fail or succeed a particular task and the story proceeds as though you were supposed to. Companions interact with each other and have distinct personalities, even to my surprise the hirelings who have a small selection of personalities and stories that play out based on what voice you gave them. There are unironically lots of places where the game is far more reactive and choice/consequence based than something like Rogue Trader. It's a pity to have so many people purport to be fans of CRPGs, and to have something this great and this up their alley release, and yet they can't give it a try because of genre tag autism, doomscroll induced irony poisoning, and general faggotiness. If you're unfamiliar with the clinical concept of 'fag misery'...well, look no further than you people to start gaining an understanding. So many embittered, joyless people who work so hard to keep themselves joyless. Sad.
