The biggest issue is that nothing happens until practically the end of the first arc, and then that's when everything happens, and it's alright. I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze personally, but you wont be completely disappointed at least, if you do decide you want to play it. The best part of Another Eden's story was unironically some of the character quests, which will not be present in the offline game. Some of them actually make you feel emotions.

I dunno if that persisted, but while I was playing, he was beating all the super bosses with only free units. I know he was still doing this well past the Persona collab. The power creep in that game was such that if you were having issue with anything, then within just a few months whatever the newest meta unit was could practically solo whatever you were previously having issues with. And honestly, the gacha was pretty generous, so it really shouldn't have been an issue, especially if you were only around 40-50.
I haven't watched this and I'm not going to watch it, but this is how I feel regarding the whole Resonance situation. But ultimately, I think the biggest issue is that "turn-based Final Fantasy fans" need to move on and just accept that Final Fantasy may never be turn-based again. There is not a shortage of turn-based games, there's not even a shortage of turn-based Square Enix RPGs, you just need to stop only looking for turn-based games that are specifically named Final Fantasy. This whole narrative is such a weird phenomenon to me, and I've been playing Final Fantasy literally my entire life.

Gilgamesh DLC also adds an infinitely replayable dungeon so you can get a LOT of mileage from the game. I think the average story clear up to the final pair of bosses in Lufenia alone will run you 60+ hours.

You are correct that people saying positive things about the gacha are normally spouting NPC dialogue that isn't true. People saying fucking Genshin is generous, when Hoyo games are not at all generous. In Another Eden, the currency given out is decently generous, and the rates are real rates as well, they aren't the Hoyo bullshit where you have a 0% chance to get the unit unless you're at soft pity, it actually has a real 2-4% rate, I forget which it is. On the flipside it does not have a pity, which freaks some people out, but I successfully pulled literally every character I wanted while i was playing, because they give out a decent amount of currency and the rates are real rates, they're not Chinese fake rates like Genshin. But the truly generous part of Another Eden's gacha is that the game operates based on "styles", a little bit like Ever Crisis uses costumes. So each character has multiple "styles", and those are the gacha that you pull for. But as long as you have at least 1 version of a character, you can grind out their other styles completely for free without needing to roll for them. So if you're smart and you're f2p, how it ends up working out is that you only ever roll for characters that you have ZERO versions of, so basically just new characters, because as long as you have any version of a character, you can grind out their other versions. Or maybe sometimes you roll for a very meta character even if you have their other versions because you can "afford" it and don't want to wait a month or 2 to grind it out. I'm not saying to play it though unless you want to play a gacha RPG that is so large it's basically more like an "offline" MMO.
