The given themes will be very vague or broad, allowing club members to freely interpret their design based on a loose idea to prevent uniformity(like bunny suits or tactical gear). Meets are planned for possibly once a month, once every two months, or once a quarter. The theme for this first meet is Adventurer, typically the medieval fantasy type but any interpretation is allowed as long as the first thought by anyone on seeing this outfit is without a doubt "that's an adventurer". Don't forget your weapons, your trinkets, anything you might need on a quest. Bonus points for interactive weapon gimmicks. It does not matter how you made the outfit, if you got an outfit on booth, kitbashed, the final result matters. There is no contest(unless the people want one). Show up, show off, see what others have made, take pictures. Then you can add "explorer" as main command to run in steam game settings, and then you can add many other vidya into same working folder to run them as you please. It's quite a bit easier when you have one big protonprefix with everything, rather than configuring it individually for individual games.

I played it for a bit when there were thread lobbies, but public lobbies are dire which makes it impossible to enjoy unless you have three other dudes to play it with. They have limited aiming angles but it's quad chainguns with infinite ammo shooting at two converging points with small splash radius and long range so cheeky snipers sitting on overpass and engies trying to drop turret on the road will get smoked really fast. Pilot takes damage when robot gets shot but you get unbreakable mega armour in cockpit.

Vibe take here but I'd say the quest isn't even subsidized because of the hardware cost, it's the insane employee count at meta, the insane R&D for sci-fi concepts they can't use because physics and cost, the insane spending on cringe MMO software nobody wants, the advertising and super bowl commercials, etc. I was never worried about valve competing with them on value because they have like 10 people working on a headset with common technology and no advertisement needed, and the software like steam OS overlaps with their other hardware projects or even windows games running on phones, and the end result is more people on the steam store, so more revenue. Valve is extremely efficient. I think I did some math a long time ago based on deck price hikes and frame was going to be $800 before the ram crisis. $300 more for a premium alternative to a $500 quest 3 that's better in every single way for PCVR except the panels and the haptics, and it's a PC and you have root, that's a good deal. If you cared about color passthrough, not so much.
