my offer still stands btw, take him down and I'll release all of his binaries I have received as a donor along with extensive documentation and game specific instructions that I have compiled myself over years of experimentation and tinkering with that shit
my only fear is that qemu3dfx could possibly die along with kjliew, and his custom modifications will not be replicated, that would be shit because Wine is simply not geared towards Win9x games, Linux is silently dropping all 32bit support, and I really DON'T want to fill my space with a gazzilion Wine prefixes of GOG rereleases and shit

I'm speculating, but I'm guessing the reason Killjew is so confident is because he happens to live in a lawless shithole of a country that gives zero fucks about license violations, so at best all they can do is ban his main account from github, but he knows he can always come back and pick up where he left off, and it's a game of whack-a-mole, attrition, and will to persist from there, and he's determined to wear out their patience for as long as it takes.
>>
>>581073738
this does not explain the fact that his repo hasn't been taken down once in 8 years
I've been following him since 2020 and i can confidently state that people were already mass reporting him back then
>>
>>581074064
If that is the case, then perhaps it's as some here have speculated and he does indeed have friends in high places. In that case, it would fall upon juliard to take the legal battle to Github itself, if he's willing to have that fight. He has states he believes the license is being violated, so if Github is doing nothing about it, he'd have to force them to explain themselves in court.

Being archived means nothing, it only prevents others from interacting with the repo (read as spamming the repo). This is the right move when you dont intend to make any contributions yourself, and this is most likely the case here. You can un-archive it anytime. He definetely forked it only to preserve it, and you should do the same.

For QEMU with Windows XP/2000 I use VBEMP NT, specifically the VBE20 driver from BearWindows.

I don't get it, kj is still listed as a contributor, which is the same excuse he used to take down the ponyfag's repo

as far as I understand, apart from the ranting and insulting, the most serious violation is not providing the source code of his custom wined3d binaries to people who donated, which is a violation under the GPL2 license

>When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it
if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs; and that you know you can do these things.

>For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights.

as a donor I can attest that he indeed hasn't provided me with the source code of his binaries, but to be completely transparent I have never asked him to do so.
>>
>>581096739
>I don't get it, kj is still listed as a contributor, which is the same excuse he used to take down the ponyfag's repo
Being listed as contributor means nothing and kj cant do shity shit about it.
VelvetDash5 confirmed that he deleted his repo on his own will :
https://github.com/kjliew/qemu-3dfx/issues/200#issuecomment-5672410451
and wordgitet most likely did the same.
The person who claim here that kj had the other forks remove is probably kj himself.

Wasn't (isn't?) this guy working for a company that stole a lot of code, including Duckstation in it's entirety? Why is he bitching about "harassment" when his employees are making millions from unpaid devs while RetroArch only makes like 5k and their modifications are actually open?

genuine question, since you and others have XP machines, don't you have to use daemon tools there too? unless you're also hoarding a fuckton of physical discs as well
>>
>>581116498
i use daemontools yes. also i downloaded a significant amount of the IBM PC archive from Myrient
>>
>>581116498
I do, it just shouldn't be necessary to do on an emulator. 86box lets you mount discs in-session no-problem. QEMU's disc mounting is in session is technically there, but in practice is broken in my experience. Doesn't update live, ignores the mount, etc etc.
>>
>>581116692
and then, even when you get DT installed in guest, you have to get the image on to it, which means some sort of pain in the ass FTP-to-host or futzing with QEMU's folder mounting or pseudo-SMB internally which I've had no luck with. It's shit. Again 86box lets you mount a folder-as-drive super easily. Whoever steals from killjew needs to do the needful.
>>
>>581116692
>>581116924
QEMU has a built-in SMB feature that allows just that, I see no reason why you can't use it on qemu3dfx
>>
i tend to just create an iso with whatever i need and just mount that whenever i used virtualbox or qemu.
>>
>>581118572

>>
Yeah, I'm very impressed with the performance QEMU-3dfx brings to the table, but until it becomes more user friendly, it will remain a curiosity for me, or a last resort as some have stated. Say what you will about the performance of the fork of a junk, but they've done wonders in at least making it both feature-rich and relatively painless to use.
>>
>>581127591
the constant comparisons to 86Box are completely misguided and honestly kind of stupid, since it’s meant for systems from the ’80s and performs reasonably well up through Windows 95. The moment you want to run Win98 era 3D accelerated games, though, it becomes immediately obvious that it struggles mightily or simply can’t handle them at all, because it was never meant to in the first place. And we don’t even need to get into how it performs under Win2000/XP
At the end of the day, 86Box and qemu3dfx serve completely different purposes when it comes to emulation. The misinformation, or simply the misunderstanding among users, that PCem/86Box would somehow be able to reproduce Voodoo4 or Geforce-tier performance is what ultimately led to the entire “fork of a junk” situation
>>
>>581131589
Supposedly it can almost handle Quake 3 via the highest-end specs, but you need a ridiculous CPU to do so, and by that point it's stupid anyway, all those AAA games from '99 onward are better played through other means. The early Windows stuff, though? That's the sweet spot.

This, you just need to increase the refresh rate to 120 Hz and mouse polling rate to 200 Hz
I personally use Logitech Mouseware to change the mouse polling rate:
https://winworldpc.com/product/logitec-mouseware/9x

Also, it should be the default now, but make sure CPU frame size is set to Smaller Frames in your 86box machine settings
Oh and if you haven't updated your build in the last 2 days, you should do it since they finally fixed the stuttering that happened when starting Windows and when navigating folders in 98SE
>>

It's a hit or miss. Some games work, some others don't.
F12 opens a debug window with options. I tried to change the keyboard keys there but the ports don't recognize mine. I double click a key, press a key and after a few seconds the thing just tells me it couldn't detect anything.
They seem to be locked to the emulator's default settings. Accuracy High, no AntiAliasing, 1x IR, default key mapping.
I don't notice any differences in performance. The one game I recomp'd is performing exactly the same as it does on Suyu.

Damn, LLMs can find critical hypervisor bugs now? AI really will take over the world.

reminder that every emulator ever does recompilation, it just does it at run-time instead of ahead of time. and even then RPCS3 does ahead of time compilation already

I thought the ship of harkinian drama was just twitter fags being mad at ai-assisted bug fixes as usual but nah, that nigga is straight up pushing shit that is entirely written by AI

I don't understand this elitism, highly talented researchers using LLMs and retards using LLMs are not mutually exclusive

If a retard finds a major bug or improvement using LLMs then what's your problem?

Also why would this guy report an exploit to Sony what kind of cuck behavior is this? That's the most baffling part
>>

>Also why would this guy report an exploit to Sony what kind of cuck behavior is this? That's the most baffling part
How new are you?
>>
>>581267098
>report an exploit
there's a bounty program, people get paid to do it
and he is 100% right, the horde of indian AI sloppies will ruin the internet shitting out code in every repository everywhere and if they happen to do something right like finding that exploit they will sell it for the cheapest price possible because everything is a race to cash out before other unskilled indian ai slopper finds out the same secret, it is a really grim future until AI gets more expensive to rent which will eventually happen and then it'll fix the horde of ai sloppies shitting everywhere

i made ChatGPT write a game launcher for me, because i got sick of launchbox and how laggy it is.
I'm really happy with the result, only downside is that im too scared to ask it to do an artwork scraper but i dont really want that anyway, i want to have it more of a 'games i like and am interested in' shelf of games, instead of a sea of roms i will never launch
>>
>>581275942
how many tokens or dollars did it cost you? I want to pay deepseek to write bots for the mmos I play
also, people use playnite for that
>>
>>581281194
0. i am using the free month of ChatGPT.
i have 86% of my weekly limit left, and ive asked it to do alot, im at version 12.0 of my layncher already.

Its very unuserfriendly though, its very specific to my needs and if you dont read the readme.txt which explains how to add games, and what 'tags' are and how to assign them, and how to assign emulators to the game entries, then it wont make any sense to a new user. but its made especially tailored to me so that all doesnt matter.
>>
>>581281849
its very much not like a normal game launcher, ill upload a video of it in action tomorrow maybe, but i just looked at the clock and was very surprised to see its 2 AM already so i gotta sleep now.
As a YOLO my last prompt to ChatGPT was to just do "improve it in whatever way you want, total free reign" and set it to max thinking strength, gonna be fun to see what it did in the morning, up until now ive been very very specific to what it needed to add and how to do it, but its been very good at filling the logical holes i left.
The launcher is written in Godot btw, didnt want a shitty webapp, because i need it to perform fast (unlike the laggy piece of shit called launchbox)

anyone emulates on their smartphone?
I was eyeing a poco f8 pro because SD 8 elite, but then I someone mentioned it would throttle the soc hard because shit heat dissipation as expected of a device with no proper heating or fan, so I would get ABSOLUTE COSMIC POWERS... but for 5 minutes

I just want to play dark souls 1-3 and emulate mhgu
>>
>>581306757
Is it actually possible to reliably emulate PS3 games on a phone?
That seems impossible to me, but maybe I'm just out of touch with newer hardware
>>
>>581307815
there are many videos of people doing so, what I'm worried about is not having to slap a cooler on a phone
>>
>>581308497
>having to slap a cooler on a phone
So it's doable, but not conveniently
>>
>>581308909
>>581306757
well this settles it, its stupid to have giganigga soc with no active cooling.

>>
>killjew still not banned
>qemu3dfx still up
nothing happened, as usual
>>
>>581312958
Yeah
Also, I know it still does something, but a cooler outside the phone's case is still a bit retarded
Hell, not only is it directly on the CPU on a proper machine, but there's also thermal paste to ensure the contact is as good as it can be
>>
>>581313404
Killjew is fucking invincible, at this point I don't know what it'll take to defeat him
>>
>>581313404
You would think that him directly calling other users retarded would be enough to do him in. He definitely has someone inside on his side.
>>
>>581314308
some of his comments are hidden as abuse, so reporting him for insulting does work to some extend
there's still a possibility that he does provide the source code to donors, which would mean he isn't violating any LGPL, which would explain why WINE doesn't pursue legal action
>>
>>581319574
so can the guy who donated to him ask him for the sourcecode?
it would be allowed for them to upload the sourcecode to their own fork repo, right?
>>
>>581322881
Yes
>>
>>581313404
he has been silent for 2 days. something happened
>>
>>581290643
nobody needs his speedhacks anymore with AI
>>
>>581306757
>mhgu
It should run even on potatoes.
Are you using Eden?
>>
>>581307815
I tried SoulCalibur IV on a somewhat outdated midrange (Galaxy A55) and it "only" ran at 80% of the speed, had bugged lighting and quickly made the phone heat up but it was stable enough that i could run the character editor and play training mode for a bit. Armsx3 is currently in a way better place than any switch emulator and will probably reach PPSSPP-tier performance status within ten years (assuming the devs don't drop it ofc)

Rumor was that he had melty after the 2024 election and left the internet.
Also everyone moved on from Drastic (which is a poorfag emulator anyway).
>>
>>581290643
Would something made on Arm Assembly even be relevant in 2026 when MelonDS is already halfway there without so much platform-specific code?

I wanna test the ps5 emulator, kyty, where can i get the games. Could (you) guys help a dude out?

I read the wiki, but neither of the links there take you to somewhere that has games that can be tested like astrobot.

very nice specs

Thanks! It runs Jojos bizarre adventure at like 2000 fps according to the emulator.
