If I wanted Sci-Fi shit I would play a plethora of other RPGs like Xenoblade; I play FE for its sword and sorcery atmosphere and Fortune's Weave is shattering that constantly as the Sci-Fi is incredibly extreme so I really don't enjoy the sour taste of that right off the bat being introduced officially into the FE series. Gameplay had been interesting with some new mechanics and I'm interested in the heroic games characters but the initial start has actually not been gripping me at all due to all this story/lore direction that seems the complete antithesis to the core of FE. We'll see I guess, Engage is an extremely low bar so it's got that going for it already as I'm more interested at least than that, but I'm getting creeping suspicions that for me there's no way this will compare narratively to most titles before Engage.

More trannyERA thoughts, yikesI do like this game, its just falling short in some major areas. It feels like they took all of the wrong lessons from 3 houses (which is one of my favortie games of all time) and turned them into an entire game.Really what is killing me is the characters, the easy difficulty, and the extremely heavy emphasis on "side" content (which i've actively avoided for 3 chapters so my units dont already feel more overpowered than they already are).I dont think the character design is great so far. Don't get me wrong, i love the style. I love the models and even the goofy Live2d portraits. But none of these characters are pulling me in and making me care about them, which i think is an important when it comes to overall character design. For a game that pulls a lot from 3 houses, this disappointed me the most. There's no Bernadetta's, there's no Hilda's, there's no Ferdinand von Aegir's. These aren't even the most compelling characters of all time, but they do come off as instantly likable to me. I haven't felt that for anybody here so far. Maybe that will change as i dive deeper into the support system. It could also be attributed to the fact that the recruitment system seems to be more geared towards part 2 as most characters need your renown level to be very high.The game is also just incredibly easy so far. It's so easy that im ignoring huge swathes of content just to restore any semblence of challenge which does not feel good especially for a first playthrough. It feels even worse when these pieces of content seem to be 2/3rds of the overall game. I'm hoping i regret not interacting with a lot of it in part's 2 and 3.

Unicorn Overlord has stellar presentation ( I like the ost too ; esp the overworld themes) but it's not very difficult and the ''battle prep'' screen before you engage an enemy is 100% accurate which encourages move-order / item use / support use scumming to reroll the RNG in your favor. I did enjoy it a fair bit nonetheless (also the language is region locked so I had to buy the Japanese edition to not have to deal with the gay localization).Triangle strategy was a solid game but suffered from an overly long prologue ; makes 3x better use of terrain than any FE game esp with the vertical component. Minor caveat is that once you've maxed out a save file (all characters etc...) upon replay the enemies will scale to your level so even on the first map you'll be fighting max lvl enemies, kinda rapes the progression system unless you start a new file.
