Went into this expecting it to have better combat than BG3 but worse roleplay. 50 hours into it I feel that it's quite the opposite. Unlike BG3, I've been able to roleplay the character concept that I came up with at every turn. My character is fully fleshed out in a way that I've only ever experienced in tabletop D&D. Granted my MC was a Psyker Bladedancer Executioner, which is one of the most OP builds in the game, and I still struggled for a good 40 minutes. Great stuff. The fight against the final boss also took a while, but just because it had 157k HP with those modifiers, it wasn't significantly harder than the vanilla fight.

The last two planets, both in the last solar system, have about a dozen weapons and armor that are among the coolest in the game. This isn't unique to only this game, it's natural to have the coolest stuff be late in the game, but you really notice it when you go through them all.One of the things I liked about bg3 was that they gave you reasonable items starting in the first section of act 1, which don't get replaced for a long time, and some builds legitimately are wearing stuff from act 1 when the game ends. Additionally, the super strong endgame items that are in act 3 are spread out in act 3 and you can do all of the act 3 missions in what er order you want, so if there is a particular item you like and want to use a lot, you can start with that, and then have it for all of act 3. My favorite staff is Markoheshkir, so my first stop in act 3 is always Sorcerous Sundries.

The minor nightglass item is really gold if you're playing a summoner, it gives your summons 50% evasion that can't be bypassed, they always target flat-footed and a couple of other minor bonuses. Best thing is that the buff the item gives doesn't get consumed when using items to summon, like the Duality of Conjuring and Summoning or the Spiders from the Clemency of Shadows ring
