Retail stormwind got a bad reputation because you were very likely to visit that little house behind the city, and stay there. And, that place was always crowded with other people like yourself who were probably in full heirlooms on a rare mount and just stood around there waiting for the dungeon queue. It just felt kind of boring for some reason. It didn’t help that you had to unlock the new races there, but it was technically max lvl content. Meaning you were sent somewhere with significant quests that you couldn’t actually do. And they were confusing as fuck looking, it wasn’t just a quest like you had to do hundreds of quests and it needed it own wowhead guide, but even the wowhead guide wasn’t straight forward because there were so many little things that you could or couldn’t do. Yeah I just remember it was like wayyy too confusing and stupid looking. And the quests themselves weren’t even challenging like you’d just run from point A to point B over and over. Did not enjoy new stormwind very much, the significance of the zone was totally destroyed by the casualization of the genre.

Ironforge has an easier run to the mailbox from the auction house, except for the bridge which you can’t blink over without getting a short blink. Classic stormwind is cool tho, when you’re in the other districts, you always see other people who are actually doing important things there. They aren’t just running around or idling, it’s like its own questing zone. Darnassus is definitely shit on purpose so that you wouldn’t idle there. That’s actually by far the worst capital city, you have to actually swim over water and climb a spiral staircase to get to the auction house.
