before playing GU I played many hours of 1G, FU, p3rd and 4U to get in the mindset of exactly what the game is being nostalgic for + it's been a long time/ever since I played them depending on the game

those games are fun in a way GU isn't, I was teasing FU's pleisoth spam but in that game fighting shitmons is still engaging in a way it just isnt' in GU because the hit impacts feel godlike and my character is as limited as pleisoth is. meanwhile GU is

>can't use striker or alchemy because 90% of the hunter arts are broken as fuck and let you iframe literally on reaction to what the monster is doing including the universal awareness one which charges lightning fast and literally does everything you would want in a defensive move
so that just leaves guild, but again the game feels like crap to swing in this game even compared to 4U because the effects suck ass and oh yeah THE GAME IS LOCKED TO 30 FPS EVEN ON SWITCH WHAT THE FUCK. the other handheld games had uncapped framerates so off the actual hardware you can play at 60 instead of getting drops to 40s/30s easily but not GU

so GU is only fun against monsters who are really fun, monsters that for the most part exist in other games that play better and have less fights against dromes and pleisoth and khezu - so outside of fighting glavenus and valstrax (who are very awesome, admittedly) idk what the fuck the point is.

i picked up the hbg and decided to shoot normal 3s and always wondered why everyone was raving about this weapon it was garbage

after like a week i decided to try out the ignition blast or whatever shoots 2x3 grenades and now i understand everything. who the fuck even bothers with the regular ammo types except as filler? the 2x3 grenades shred fucking everything when you scale it with attack. elemental ammo is basically the best filler if you can exploit it, but you only do it to refill the ignition grenades

stun res 3 being necessary is stupid because they designed the entire weapon around constantly parrying/heavy armoring through shit so you can play perfectly then get stunned by the smallest attack and die. it's retarded having to always have it slotted and they're making the sword mode counter not build up stun in ascendance but ONLY in boost mode, because fuck you.

not to mention that recovering from stun in wilds is horrendous because of the extra recovery frames where you struggle to move after you mash out. horrible change.

the reason yybb is infinite is because you never input a combo finisher
the reason bbyb works is because bbb is stronger than yyyy but yb as a combo finisher is stronger than ending either combo normally
b during yb endlag cuts the animation and resets the combo
you can hold yb after yb to do some pther sht and still cancel endlag by starting into b combo again
there's shit with advancing, side swipe, backhop, vertical shit, perfect rush
guard, guard chop, perfect guard
and rules for schmooving from almost any move above into any other one
beginner sns is "any move ever works" and endgame sns is "any move (with purpose) ever works"

conga hbg built for fire and wyvernblast/piercer ignition until the last area, where you should have some dragon hbg but mostly for when he's about to do the big nova. You can/should probably also build the dragon hbg for special ammo stuff too. Shield up is nice for the first areas. Use the focus strike on his back to break it, you can fit a fully charged and a semi-charged one.
