SAM sites as they currently are on ayy front are this gimped mess of a thing that exists because the community whined about it being removed. Arrowhead, in their usual fashion, removed it because they clearly didn't want them messing with leviathans (this was when they existed on all maps other than cities) and stingrays and they weren't particularly too fond of how SAMs turned ayy reinforcement ships into a stack of pancakes either. So yeah, now they exist just for the sake of existing to please the community when Arrowhead's buffed ayy reinforcement ships to have forcefields, thus rendering the SAM worthless to stop them, and they never particularly tracked stingrays well because they were never developed to do that from the first place/they were removed. Hell, you see them on fucking Vote Snatchers where that subfaction doesn't even have ship reinforcements. The proper way to have told the story of why the SAM sites were gone from the ayy front after leviathans/stingrays were added to the game was by modelling them as a destroyed PoI, showing the ayys themselves just tactically got rid of the air defenses.

They really need to do something about the sound design in this game.
Double hulk patrols can pop up your ass literally 30 meters away and they'll make zero sound until they flame your ass.
Chargers will teleport behind you in total silence.
A flame devastator can graze you and set you on fire and sometimes you get no sound or pain sound you have a DoT on until the Low health sound effect plays.

Helldivers 2 doesnt have the mechanics to be "hard" other than it being a reinforcement simulator or a never ending stimm tax. People that play games with difficulty in mind know that those games have limited resources as a mechanic you manage and not 25 respawns to eat through.
Compare Havoc 40 from Darktide to Helldivers 2 and see the difference in mechanical knowledge required to do well in both games.
