Hover over the combat log to see what was involved in a missed roll, make sure you understand where each thing comes from.Sorcerer probably feels better than wizard for blasting and having the extra spell slots at the expense of flexibility with which spells you have available. If you find a crossbow with some effect it can impart, that's a nice thing for casters because even though you will mostly miss, you will occasionally land crits that do some minor thing. Like in WotR there's an early crossbow I use for most of the game, which pushes enemies back and slows them for a round. I give it to Daeran and it's come in very lucky once in awhile.But yes, this is not like 5e where free cantrips scale, so especially early on, you won't want to blow your load on every encounter. Mostly I'd make sure you understand why you aren't hitting as much as you think you should.

Serfdom exist, servitors also exist and the most important thing is that the imperium doesn't micro manage every single planets but rather they let local rulers rule those planets. Also tithe also include people so they effectively using humans as payment for their taxes but it not slavery because those guys get to serve the Imperium

When we left off, we had tried to meet with the court's Secret Keeper, a Nosferatu named Willem, but he was nowhere to be found. His haven was crawling with ghouls (anarchs?) and a Toreador with strange sigils carved into their skin, no sign of the man himself. We did find some evidence that he's a bagger, preferring to drink from blood bags than humans, and regularly sent his ghoul for pickup runs at the Wake the Dead coffee shop. Thankfully, we know a few people there.

No sign of his ghoul either, neither Safia or Miss Thorne has seen them for a few nights now. We do learn that he hasn't taken well to being a kindred, and Safia seems to take pity on him. She asks me to look out for him, and obviously I agree. We deduce from different clues that he's probably holed up in an old plastics factory near the edge of town, and if we found him then whoever was bumbling around his haven might have too. We'll have Fabien explain what a plastic is on the way.

A hobo has frozen to death in the alley, holed up in his tent near the bright and hopeful art. Seattle is filled with little bits to find on the ground, and it was probably a design mistake to make it so much faster to leap and glide across the rooftops. The few who played the game probably missed some of its best work.
The older, more rundown parts of the city still have the yellow street lights. Hard to overstate how much better these are at evoking a mood, but in the game and in real life. Replacing these with the lights from a dentist's office was a grave mistake and stripped some of the beauty away, condemning us all to a true World of Darkness™

When we reach the factory we get ambushed outside the entrance, and fairly well coordinated too, I nearly died here. Going shirtless in a blizzard is pretty odd, not to mention the corpses being adorned with various markings and scars, mirroring the marks on our own body. They knew we were coming, and they were much better equipped, automatic weapons, grenades, one of them even had a sword.
The further in we go, the more we encounter these strange scenes of mannequins posed in different ways. There were a few like this in Will's haven too, so probably a sign we're on his trail, but what an odd hobby.
The inside is creepy and still. The game makes great use of music by turning it off every once in a while, something a lot of games forget to do. There's music playing at all times, exploring, fighting, during conversations, but sometimes an eerie quiet is what sets the mood. And of course, more mannequins.
We find some old mementos as we roam about. Black and white photographs, newspaper clippings, some old blood bags. Will's almost a hundred years old it sounds like, and still not adjusted to his new life from the sound of it. Tough break.
Tolliver, Moore, Muldoon, interesting. Ysabella Moore is the Toreador who had a keeping it real moment at her club and had to be put down. Benny Muldoon is Fabien's old boss and the former sheriff who went half-wight and took out a fair number of the best organized anarch cell's foot soldiers. Tolliver would be 'Tolly', the gay talking Nosferatu who tried to sell me down the river to the Prince not half an hour after I saved his life. Very interesting.
We do eventually find the unfortunate looking fellow. I imagine some of you feel you've seen this screenshot before, anytime you turn the monitor off.
The poor guy is a stuttering mess, and about what you'd expect from a century old Nosferatu that still hadn't figured out how to hunt, or worked up the nerve to do it. But he hasn't technically done anything wrong, and Safia did treat him as a friend, which I guess makes him a friend of the clan, so the in-character thing to do is treat him with kid's gloves even if we do probably find him a little bit annoying. I'm high humanity too, but come on guy.

We've been sent back to the entrance, but things are subtly different. Mannequins have moved around, lighting is different, some things are added. Very strange.
Each time we make our way back, we're sent back, but the scene deteriorates with repeat trips. The whole thing is reminiscent of a Scarecrow scene from Arkham Asylum and very enjoyable. Fabien deduces that we haven't left the room at all, and are in fact in his mind - a power his clan is known for, but not Nosferatu.

As we go further into his mind, we start seeing his old memories. The pain of his wife aging out of her beauty and eventually dying, his children barely remembering him, his grandchildren never knowing him at all. As with most story beats it's really well done here, and even as he's trying to kill me I can't help but feel bad for the guy. A mousey guy that is never going to be a predator, cursed to be an ugly freak, watching everything in his life melt away so he can 'live forever' in a sewer.

You can play it a few different ways, but trying to talk him down is probably the most in-character thing here. I did promise Safia to protect him, it's clear he's not acting of his (totally) free will, and after seeing in his head I'm more than a little sympathetic to him. He was embraced as a cruel prank and it's been a hundred years now. I also kind of need to know what he knows, which I can't do if he blows up and maybe takes me with him.
Being kind to him earlier and again pays off, and he does give us a few clues. They promised he could see his family again if he helped them, so there's a they (Tzimisce?), and the boss is a Malkavian calling himself 'the gardener'. I'm the sheriff and kind of a big deal, so I can protect him if he just comes with me, but it turns out someone has been listening to us the whole time, and now they know I know.
Even worse, it turns on Will can't put the trigger down, because it isn't his. He was forced to wear the vest, set to go off with tampering or if set off remotely. Kind of a raw deal for poor Will, used and abused to the end.
Will is disintegrated, breaking my promise to Safia to protect her friend, and knocking me silly and out the building. Mortal cops tend to show up for things like bombs going off in the city, so we'd better haul ass out of here. But that's a good stopping point for now, we'll pick it up again tomorrow.

alright, Wasteland 2 is really starting to wear on me. The difficulty spike on hitting the LA area is pretty ridiculous. I did manage to kill the scorpitron and funny enough, with some very basic strategy, hacking the little scorpos that it poops out every couple rounds. I'd say it was quite a bit easier than these Children of Citadel fuckers. Who also show up as a random encounter, as early as when you first arrive to the area, which is likely a TPK on reasonable difficulty.I'm good with challenging, but there's challenging and then there's "hurr durr the enemy hits you for 99999999999999 damage lmao" little brother DM kind of energy.Pretty close to just tanking the difficulty and finishing the game. It's a shame, in ways I like it more than WL3 but in other ways it suffers from being first (before Pillars, if you weren't aware) in the so-called CRPG renaissance. It could use an EE.

Caster classes need to be multiclassed carefully or you're going to be a bad wizard who can hold a sword you can't do much with. No shame in playing on Normal, and you can always change the difficulty on the fly, even set custom settings for how you feel like things best suit you.On the mechanics side, pay attention to AC vs Touch AC, and be aware of spells/abilities that use Touch AC. You also now have to concern yourself with Attacks of Opportunity while in melee range with an enemy and vice versa. That's casting spells, ranged attacks, moving. Though a really helpful tip: You do get a free bit of movement in exchange for using all of your movement: Hold shift iirc and move to just walk out of melee range, though then you can't move again, but that can be a life saver.Hover over the combat log entries to see why something landed or missed and take the time to get why. Put the enemy info thing on, and also right-click to get a more detailed kind of pop-up. Which also is sometimes different than the hovering, because buggy mess. But at least take note of their AC, Touch AC, Will, Reflex, Fortitude. Try and target their worst, of course.One big thing I think surprises people is their dex bonus to AC being inhibited by armor. If you wear heavy armor, expect to get +nothing to your AC from dex. Fighters get stuff that allows more dex bonus.Finally I'd say, try to specialize rather than be a hack-of-all-trades. Decide the kind of thing you want to be good at and go all in on it.
