Reach’s supposed to be a military campaign, but the UNSC uses the tactics of a 10 year old who dabbled a little in call of duty. Almost every major loss they suffer on screen is because the UNSC screwed up.A major counter offensive gets routed and forced into a pitched battle? Well maybe you should have deployed some anti air support and long range artillery instead of a fucking Calvary charge with an army of space technicals. Grafton gets shot down by an unforeseen threat? Then perhaps it should have sniped the target from a few dozen kilometers away to avoid traps instead of practically kissing the spire. Savannah gets broadsided? Maybe it should have pulled back to minimum safe distance and only reengaged the corvette when it was time to extract the team. Jorge has to stay behind and die, and Noble 6 has to make a blind jump off the corvette and walk for weeks to link back up with struggling UNSC forces because the corvette was too damaged to exfil on the Saber? Well then maybe savannah shouldn’t have stuck around to shoot the ship they’re trying to fucking capture. Which would have allowed marine reinforcements, just one guy less expensive than a spartan II, to be deployed from Savannah and light the bomb.Not to mention the plot holes (how does the corvette fly towards the super carrier if you blew off the thrusters?). Reach has always been my least favorite story in the bungie era.

The reason siege works is because it kind of lets you play it your own way and at your own pace.It's reminiscent of old-school Halo BTB where there is a lot going on but you don't have to be hyper dialed in every second.
