Since you want to end on an even score some people start with 19 in that stat and then put all 5 stat increases into it. But the big brain thing is to start at 20 and have an odd score on Dexterity and put the final point there, so you can have as high spell Difficulty Class as possible as early as possible. As for the other stats only Dexterity matters as a secondary stat, since it determines intiative. All other stats are superflous, especially STR and INT/CHA, whichever one is not your casting attribute.Subclasses?Depends on the main class. You should worry about what kind of casting you enjoy more first, i.e. prepared vs spontaneous. Spontaneous is easier to manage and you get more casts, but you'd need to know what spells you want to spam ahead of time, also using metamagic turns spells into full-round actions. Prepared casters are a bigger headache because you need to plan and prepare your spell book according to what you think you might face, for example if you know you'll be fighting Undead you shouldn't fill your spellbook with Enchantment control spells because they'll be useless. Prepared casters can learn spells from scrolls so they could potentially learn every single spell their class can cast, givint you more room to experiment.Deity?Irrelevant mechanically speaking. Just pick based on roleplay and something that aligns with your, well, alignment.

I must admit, I don't really like the character models either. They look doughy. The static portrait art of Rome was better imo. The new ones move a bit during conversation, but that's not worth the overall downgrade in aesthetic.Which is a shame too, since the graphics are otherwise fine, and the ui is fine.But now to one of the most fun things in any good crpg: your first level up, where you look at class progression for the future and look forward to all the fun things you plan out.
