He grows up living a normal life there under a different surname, until he happens to rescue a green-haired ancient manakete. She forms a pact with him and grants him her power (Blaze Art), which he uses to escape with his life. His new power was exactly what he needed to carry out his plan to destroy the empire and solve the mystery of his mother's murder, so he joins a ragtag group of rebels. He puts on a mask and forms the group known as the Black Knights (Tellius reference). For some chapters you switch PoV and control the protagonist's best friend, who fights on the opposing side. A Camus who wants to change the empire from within. The protagonist can't romance any girl he wants, but there's a route split in the last 5 chapters that change the ending based on which one of the 3 love interests you pick (the kete, the normie friend and the badass action girl). Fortune's Weave appeals to entirety new demographic of fans. Of course its sales will lag behind at first as old fans aren't as interested in something completely new and unique. The fact it does comparably to Engage already is quite a feat actually. Just like with Three Houses when word of mouth spreads and the new intended demographic hears about it the sales will explode. It just won't happen immediately, but the seeds are starting to show sprouts already, Asmongold, superpopular streamer who would never ever mentioned Fire Emblem put it on his potential GOTY list showcasing the game to completely new people who never heard of FE before.
