If the intention was to clash the first turn with ego, why isn't there a hint about it on the death screen? Ego was designed in such a way that most people have a natural aversion towards using them unless they need to win 1 or 2 clashes in the middle of the fight, so of course a lot of people wouldn't even entertain the idea of a dashboard full of ego, especially with the SP still nerfed from the chaplain fight or the IDs just haven't been used before.
