>What is Wardogs?
An MMO shooter built by a Twitter lolcow, where you play in a 100 player map and get raped by Chinese hackers and people who shit in socks. Grind to unlock broken equipment (which will get disabled for weeks while they scratch their heads thinking of a way to fix said broken equipment), participate in a persistent economy where you earn more money by going semi-AFK and doing boring shit instead of actively helping your team win, lose it all to a Chinese rage hacker, then get your progress wiped by the devs every month and start over. Don't want to play a mediocre shooter with mobile phone RPG tier grind and unlocks? Maybe this game isn't for you. Trust the Vision. They knew about all the problems you are having now and have already come up with ways to fix them you just need to be patient.

Making the IR rangefinder need batteries is a good start but it's not enough. It needs to fill a niche of finding snipers hidden in bushes or apartments, and it would be better if they just decreased its FOV so that it specializes in that niche and make it more difficult to use for regular scouting/spotting. I know they will never do this because its a horizontal upgrade to the regular spotter scope instead of a vertical grindfest progression.
>>
i can't believe the number of spoiled children who drop everything to rush over and try to get in the gunner seat of my locked personal solo humvee, then get genuinely mad when i ignore their desperate cries to unlock the car

simply because i chose to play the game in your vicinity, i'm now obligated to start communicating targets to you and letting you waste my expensive ap ammo? really says something about people's character
>>
>>583149151
we live in an evil world and hax are a byproduct of that. just look at the posters ITT who brag about cheats to cause seethe. they choose to cheat at games to feel a false sense of superiority AND to make other people angry during what is supposed to be their recreational free time. they have no moral code that might curb such behaviors and we all get to suffer because of that.
>>
>>583148953
not sweeping, but anti-cheat never implies zero cheaters
it is a constant back and forth of detection and evasion
i would wager that all games with anti-cheat still have cheaters
>>
>>583150636
that's because devs never use behavioral anti-cheat
i'm not completely clear why, but i assume it costs more to have a dedicated internal team that builds heuristics to detect how cheating behavior actually looks in your particular game than to outsource to some kernel-level nonsense that doesn't actually help
>>
If you're blowing up urals just doing logi in the little bird you're genuinely a faggot.
>>
>>583151378
as far as i'm aware behavioral anti-cheat isn't very good and is only ever used to catch the most blatant of cheaters. anti-cheat false positives are pretty damaging, being sure someone is actually cheating is an unfortunate necessity and behavioral anti-cheat by definition cannot be truly sure

>>583151853
you know what happens with the pallets you drop off, correct?

errrrmmm.... you uh... you know you get the same delivery fee when they unload the pallet too right
>>
>>583152280
true, maybe I was thinking support xp. is that different if you personally extract them to a fob?
>>
>>583152116
You get reduced money (being outside the CZ) and your victims get zero money
You fight outsize CZ against one team so you're benefiting the other team
It's a lose-lose situation
>>
>>583152450
you get the same reward of both money and xp whether you or others unload your pallet
it's technically always better to let others do it because they get an additional, smaller reward for unloading
>>
>>583152474
I kill moto-partisans more often than they kill me but I saw a havoc chasing urals yesterday and that was pretty fucked up. I always keep a couple verbas in my cab but that wont do shit to a flying tank.
>>
>>583152152
no matter what you're dropping off it's going towards defensive structure, mortars, AA, stingrays, or drills. all of which i would very much not like my enemies to have

>>583152474
you have like a 3 minute window to disrupt each supply run
and if you aren't blue, then you have only one team to focus on realistically
cashwise it's not very good but if you ignore that bit, it's probably one of the more impactful things you can do to impact that team's odds of success in most games. and in the games where it isn't, it's easy to see that and simply adjust tactics
>>
>>583152648
interesting, my mistake then. I started hot dropping the pallets for the fobbits to collect because it seemed more efficient anyway
>>
>>583152875
I dont mind dealing with a humvee hunting me, or a dune buggy maaws launcher or even landmines, but I am racist against aircraft
>>
>>583150636
Also ue5 is really easy to cheat with. The devs need to turn alot of shit server side for it to be detected.
Wallhacks being the most common one.
>>
>>583149151
It's a shame too because the playtest ran flawlessly on CachyOS. I've been considering dualbooting Wangblows so I can play again, waiting for the wipe. They've said they're working on Linux comparability for Elytra but I'm pretty sure it's just smoke being blown up our ass and it's never going to happen.
>>
>>583153404
wallhacks being the most common cheat? or the most common one that can be "solved"?
because the latter is certainly untrue. there's a handful of fundamentally unpatchable cheats, and wallhacks are probably the most unpatchable
you can mitigate it with various techniques but fundamentally your client always needs to know (rather, be told) where enemies are before they're actually visible, and before they can peek you (lest you create an even greater peeker's advantage, something intrinsic to online FPS)

Another season 2 change coming. I hope parachutes become massively more expensive. You'll get fewer pilots trying to quickly yeet passengers out for a quick return to maximize profits and more people willing to hitch a ride in a car.
>>
>>583155316
>another compromise
Vision status?
>>
>>583156085
>we never wanted it like this
Parachutes are anti-vision and nerfing them is not a compromise
>>
Top tier weapons really aren't fun to fight against. It's like there's this deep chasm between Vector or BMR and the previous weapon down the progression line.
>>
>>583155316
They need to increase the diameter of the zone for that otherwise people will maaws the fuck out of vulnerable transport helis as they land.
>>
>>583155316
This won't change shit lmao. People will still buy them and parachute just cause they don't trust the average pub pilot to land safely.
>more people willing to hitch a ride in a car.
The only time I get in cars with randoms is when I want to piss or do something that will take me the length of the 5 fucking minute car ride. I imagine a lot will feel the same.
>>
>>583155316
>just make it more expensive
I've seen games crank out balance patches every week or biweekly. Don't they have the tools to alter shit fast? Especially for a sandbox like this, goddamn.
And the obvious solution for parachutes is to make them only available on certain aircraft, for free. Black hawks should give you one, little birds shouldn't have any. Could expand on it by letting little birds do rope descents and make transit choppers pop the chute the moment you exit them. It's too frictionless and too easy to make last-second descents anyway. So either you have a good pilot that can fly at low altitude for a HALO tier jump or otherwise you suffer a slow descent.
>>
>havent played in probably a week and a half
>log in
>starts off fine
>20 minutes in a rogue player is trolling, running us over before grabbing the deployment vehicle (i dunno what its called) and driving off into the far wilderness
>get to fob from chopper
>everyone is dead
>suddenly my body explodes, killer has no username and the kill cam shows him vibrating in the walls
>mfw
Is there a chance for this game, bros? Can the devs actually pull it together? It seems like they're trying but every time I play I deal with such bullshit that I just quit and don't want to return.
>>
>>583156085
vision status: they have a significant number of ground-deployment vehicles but the existence of parachutes makes them obsolete. seems like parachutes are working against the vision, not for it
>>
>>583156889
Or fobbits will have to learn to use the whole fob space and not just the little bit around the base of a tower so that helis have open, safer spots to land.
>>
>>583156889
Shouldn't be trying to land the damn blackhawk past the first wave anyway. You get it at the start, bring people to the hz or w/e, then do nothing but pallet run.
>>
>>583155316
all this is going to do is punish people that don't play all the time even more. no one is going to even gamble their $5000 kit on the chance their pilot is competent
>>
>>583155316
oh great, more opportunities for fags to want to drop mines. 5 minute drive + whatever $ you spent on kit just to get sent back to spawn without playing.

Make thermal a large item so you can only equip one.
Make its battery internal so you cant swap it out.
Make it so that you cant put it in trucks/crates either.
Its so fucking convoluted they should just delete it.

In my opinion they should make it so that thermal only works to 300m and you should be able to swithch modes to normal for 1km. Battery bullshit is something like kindergarteners making up new rules for their dumb games in the schoolyard tier.
>>
>>583162005
I played them for 3 days and they're honestly even worse than the official ones. 90% of them didn't have no GL/humvee niggery rule, one of them didn't have team balance so it was 35/60 before I left on the winning team because it's fucking retarded and like every single one had thermal and 50 cal supply crates en masse on spawns making the games ultra fucking cancer. The only good games I had was on a finnish server and even then there were thermal crates there but at least the infantry combat was good and it was a close 3-way game.

At least on official you don't get thermal/50cal/RFB dropping niggers every goddamn game.

Having used the thermal with the BMR for a couple of matches because of the crate sellers I have to say;
This is completely insane and while I agree it should be nerfed, im still going to get withdrawls from losing it.
No one can ever sneak up on you from any angle because you just turn your gogogadget fuck you goggles on and they stick out like a sore thumb. They can't peek out of certain windows because theyre bright white, they can't rez in the smoke because I just send 10 rounds of .308 into their exact location. They can't hide in bushes, they can't hide in forests.
Obviously this works with any weapon, but sniper rifles are too slow to switch to and shoot, and rifles/smgs are too close range.
I don't even know how they could nerf this in season 2. If they add a battery it makes no difference, the strength of the thermal is the ability to instantly aquire targets even through dense foliage, I never kept it on for more than 2/3 seconds at a time. If they make it large, no difference because pocket esp is better than any other specialist item for the frontlines. Banning it from crates just means even more people will be grinding recon for it. Distance or zoom limits also don't matter because its incredibly useful at midrange too.
I just can't think of a single way to make it balanced, it should just be removed.

If you don't make it to CZ or die within a minute you should get kit refunded.

i think it's hilarious that anyone thinks region locking would do anything at all to stop cheaters. it wouldn't do anything, literally nothing at all to stop cheaters.

>if you look at precisely cherry-picked examples or contested/limited power weapons

Every single Human weapon in the game having lower TTK than most guns in most modern non-tac shooters isn't cherry picking you windowlicker.
>What if we looked at Halo 3/Reach's >TTKs compared to Wardogs (statistically the Halos most people have played and are familiar with);
They range from about 0.3s to 1.5s for the guns that aren't 1 shot kills. Average is around 1-1.1s. In general they're shorter than TTKs vs 4 armor unless you cherry pick.
>or looked at their TTKs compared to their immediate competitors, like Battlefield or Call of Duty?
I'm not really sure where you're going with this. No one is forcing you to play tac or arcade shooters. We could equally ask what the TTKs were for Unreal Tournament or Quake Wars, released the same year as Halo 3.

I don't dislike high TTK. I love high TTK. My first shooting games as a kiddo were arena shooters where shutting someone down and then tracking them for 4 seconds with an LG to kill them was the norm. What I dislike is high TTK for players who poopsock and low TTK for players who don't, combined with really easy aiming mechanics and slow movespeed so that fights are nearly always decided by who has better geat instead of who made better decisions or made better plays.

there is no barrier of entry to clicking on vpn.exe. there is no "jumping through 50 hoops" it's literally just clicking on the software in your start menu?? it's 100x more hoops to get working anticheat bypass than it is to just start a fuckin vpn lmao

damn bro... gonna need you to go ahead and learn how a vpn works (the ping the server sees will be the ping from the vpn node you choose to the game's servers, not your own, so if you pick a vpn node in whatever region you want to play in, your ping will be the same as someone from that region)
>>
>>583170256
>behind a region lock doing anything to stop software-assisted players from opening a vpn?
You ping lock them, obviously. 180 ping player on US West whose IP is from LA? Yeah pull the other one buddy, go back to your own server.
>b-but muh yuropoor/ausfag friends
Base it on party leader if you must. If Chinese or Russian hackers can convince a local to party lead then into a local server, then good for them. If they get detected cheating, ban the party leader as well and tough cookies. You lie with a dog, you get fleas; pick your friends better.

Gonna need you to learn how UE packets work, loser. The server has a ping for the client with every single packet sent/received. The packets are also encrypted inside the UE process, so the VPN can't easily tamper them, and it would be trivially easy to detect tampering with any timestamps.
>>
>>583172437

and those packets are going to a VPN. the game server never interacts with your client. the server pings the vpn, whatever you just wrote is literal nonsense

>>583172537
My dude, I am very familiar with the unreal datagram protocol. Go and neck yourself lol.
>>
>>583172841
buddy chinks have been doing this for a decade already, go look at literally any game that tried a ping lock and look at how it does nothing. or don't and keep asking chatgpt to hallucinate explanations to you, idgaf lol
>>
>>583170256
It would require you getting a vpn and cheating your ping somehow, Chang. That's a win in my book.
>>
>>583172736
The unreal packets are AES encrypted before they go to the VPN and inside each one is a timestamp. The unreal server instance then decrypts the packet after it receives it and the higher level wrapper, tls etc get unwrapped. The VPN can do absolutely nothing to hide your real ping to the server (via the VPN route, obviously)
>>
>>583172736
>the game server never interacts with your client.
are you seriously arguing that a game server doesn't interact with the game client

>>
>>583173095
timestamps don't matter when the client its checking is a vpn. the route to your real IP doesn't matter because the server communicates with the vpn instantly. that's what chatgpt isn't explaining to you
i'm not sure why you're arguing this when it's been discussed 100000x already in 100 other games. no need to be embarrassed, it's an anonymous website

>>583173393
The timestamps matter because your ping to the server when you use a VPN is still YOUR ping to the server, and YOU are in China. VPNs change your routing, they don't defy physics and make light travel faster through fibre across the Pacific.
>>
>>583173435
who fucking cares about money generation you retard ? they could outright remove money gains from spotting and let it only on kills and i would still spot for my team, i love indirect roles, if you dont have 5m already fuck off the thread
>>
>>583173393
yes the server only directly communicates with the vpn but vpns do not magically invent their own data. all the vpn is doing is routing data between the actual game client/server. if that data includes the client reporting "i received these packets at this timestamp, i am sending these packets at this timestamp" then true latency can obviously be calculated through that

>>583173876
routing is everything when it comes to ping

im not acting like anything, ive already spent 50-60 hours with regular spotting just to unlock something good and now they deleted it for the next 14 days lmao
they couldve just put the battery change in the fucking patch instead of deleting my time spent
>>
>>583174873
the cap is those 45 to 65 milliseconds it takes the light to travel through the cable
>>
>>583174975
>ive already spent 50-60 hours with regular spotting just to unlock something good and now they deleted it for the next 14 days lmao
wait until you find out this game has wipes
>>
>>583174984
You are genuinely hopeless. Thank god people who actually develop games have some technical knowhow instead of shit GPT just threw at them. The only reason games don't have ping/region locking is because chinks bring too much money to the table. You are a fucking retarded ape.
>>
>>583175241
you're pretty angry
i guess that's understandable, since you've been acting like some kind of expert in the thread, then some low-effort aislop proved that you never actually thought about how long it takes the signal to physically go from beijing to los angeles
>>
>>583175428
I'm not that guy. You literally do not understand networking even on basic level and you're talking about AI as if it's some gotcha. You're an actual neanderthal.
>>
>>583175226
yes thats what im talking about, i had very few days left to use the good item ive spent a gigantic amount of time but now its gone

this also removed one of the properties of the ghillie suit LMAO

>>583175428
>In reality, the signal cannot take a perfect, straight-line path. Submarine fiber optic cables must route around islands, continental shelves, and through landing stations. Along the way, the signal passes through routers, switches, and signal repeaters that introduce tiny amounts of electronic processing delay.
>Because of these real-world routing overheads:
>A one-way real-world network transmission takes about 70 to 90 milliseconds.
>A standard round-trip network test (ping) between a server in Los Angeles and a server in mainland China typically measures between 140 and 180 milliseconds
low-effort aislop proved that you never actually thought about how long it takes the signal to physically go from beijing to los angeles
>>
>>583174984
No it isn't, because you haven't included any switching overhead. >>583174938

Your "VPN" is not a personal fibre that runs directly from your CPU to the CPU of the game server with no repeaters, switches, routers or NICs in between. Those things scale with distance. So answer the question again, what's the minimum switching overhead for that distance and route?
>>
>>583175553
>You literally do not understand networking even on basic level
unfortunately this appears to be projection
at its core, a signal originates from a computer in one place and travels at about the speed of light to a computer in another place
when those computers are in beijing and los angeles, approximating the distance as 10,000km and the speed of light as 200,000km/s, the travel time is 50ms
>>
>>583174714
That gun is shit. You might use it for a handful of games while you unlock the galil. Who cares?
>>
>>583175613
>>583175624
>the actual bottleneck isn't the physical travel time
you're finally starting to understand why a good VPN can make a big difference in a player's ping
>>
>>583175846
>assume a perfectly spherical cow
>>
why the fuck are you two retards shitting in the thread talking about networking
>>
>>583175846
>approximating the distance as 10,000km and the speed of light as 200,000km/s,
Neither of those things are right lol. Light doesn't travel straight through fibre, it bounces. Fortunately your speed is too low. The reason for this is that you took what you thought was the distance and divided it by the time you prompted out of an LLM.
>the travel time is 50ms
What's the switching overhead? Third time I'm asking. >>583174938 >>583175624
>>
>>583176189
there are at least four or five of us
>>
>>583175996
Switching overhead necessarily scales with distance. There are zero Chinese players with anywhere close to 55 ping to an LA server, and it is not physically possible.

gork analyze the global internet sub marine cable map and standardized routing routes, normalize with average router hops and cumulative switch overhead and estimate ttl for client of a 60hz tickrate with a 16.67 - 33.34 hz client delta and give me 10 examples between different routes eg beijing to palo alto

The wipe is going to filter the entire player base and this game will drop to like 5,000 players max.
>>
>>583177357
No you don't understand. Having a good VPN means the VPN provider will send out a ship to do a fibre run straight from your PC to the server. That's why it's private (you don't need to share it with any plebs or repeaters).

you're finally starting to understand why a good VPN can make a big difference in a player's ping

region lock + ping limit = problem solved

Remove the gate from the game. It literally just a noob trap that lets enemies scale into FOBs.

Among which 3,000 are cheaters, 1,500 are poopsocks
>>
>>583178246
The wipe will revitalize the player base. The player count will drop off a cliff after 1 week when we are back to the poopsock ballcrusher factory.
>>
>>583178246
Wrong, the wipe is the best part because early game wardogs is the best before havoc niggers and t4 armor comes into play.

absolutely seething

>>583180451

A lot of people are going to slam right into the wipe because they've been putting everything into unlocking shit only to find themselves back at 0.

>putting everything into unlocking shit only to find themselves back at 0
You have to no life in order to unlock anything. Nolifers are natural slaves and WILL take the abuse. Poopsocks will only quit when all the gamerdads quit and they have no one to farm.

A teammate player "BoDe1998" went to revive me and another guy and managed to steal ALL my equipment.
I heared also the other downed guy saying "Hey did you steal my stuff" - "No".
While I was revived I saw my whole equipment fading being replaced by the free rifle.
Well, reported for grieving and until this is addressed, I pause playing this game, because this REALLY pissed me off, and killed all fun.

>To the neck, not the head.
Not beating the allegations.
The neck is a tiny hitbox. Seriously, anyone reading this, go to the firing range, grab a Galil, and try to hit a dummy's neck hitbox. You're looking for "49.37". It's slim.
The neck, when accounting for gang violence, is effectively just a rare "critical hit" which the T4 uniquely guards against. You deliberately chose the neck despite this fact to exacerbate the differences in your comparison. That is cherry-picking.

Regardless of that, the original claim is still false. The neck multiplier is lower than the head, but it's still pretty decent for ARs, x1.76 (2.35 AR neck multiplier * 0.75 global neck multiplier). Even then though, even if it was x1, we're still not going to 1 second with any AR. See the TTK below.

I don't know how you're getting your numbers. Hallucinations maybe?
If you reply FModel, I will smite you. I don't know what would be worse in that case; it being a lie, or it being a complete misinterpretation of the information within that contradicts literally anything observable in-game.

>>583171492
5.45 FMJ to a T4 chest is a ~800ms TTK.
This is not cherry-picked. This is a very, very common gun, it's has the worst TTK of all common automatics, and we're checking it against center-mass.

The average TTK of Halo 3's standard human weapons is around 1.4s, >50% longer than the common TTK that's been selected here for Wardogs'.
So "Much shorter than Wardogs" is untrue.

As for the comparison to Apex, ~1.4s is its similar common "worst" TTK.
The claim that Halo has a lower TTK than modern games is just simply far more wrong than it is right. That is the point.

This is autism bait, has to be. It's effective at least. If it's not, but you don't reply with a direct source and explanation for your numbers, I am going to assume you're deficient and cease engaging.
For the record, I enjoy longer TTKs and think the current TTK gap is silly. But the argumentation here is incredibly weak.
