>>583326816buddy 20 hours is nothing, a full playthrough is like 150-200+ hours; by 20 hours you barely even started the game, you barely even got past the starter area and ya there absolutely is roleplay. there are multiple opposing factions you can pick to side with turning others into enemies, dozens of completely optional questlines that alter the game in various ways and how moral/immoral you decide to play can literally lock you out of entire factions and chunks of lore and quests. i dont think there is a less linear crpg than underrail, thats an absolutely absurd word to use for the game; you can literally go anywhere in the game at any time including onto the expansion at basically any point of the game past entering the main hub city after you finish the tutorial. you can completely put off the main story for 100+ hours easily, there is no other crpg where you can just quest and enjoy the setting to such an extended degree without being railroaded back onto some mainstory questline. fallout 1 and 2 combined dont have as much free roam content as underrail and basically all those quests have only 1 correct way to complete them as well dumbass, unless you just want to fuck it up and not get rewarded, well if thats your idea of "roleplay" then guess what you can fail the quests in underrail too, sometimes catastrophically with consequences way beyond just being locked out of an npc. what underrail does extremely well is make you choose how to undertake quests and the game in its entirety, you dont have enough points to get all the things required to be a jack of all trades and that forces you to approach situations differently depending on your build; ie hacking through a computer to turn off cameras, lockpicking a door, sneaking in through vents, using speech to trick someone etc etc. choosing to shoot that junk guy completely locks you out of content later btw, its absolutely roleplay and you get punished for being a murderous thief in that case.
