Not exactly. The gacha wars was just some bullshit started by a shitposter for attention. The only people participating in the so-called "gacha wars" were the BEapes, who hated the OOrangutans. That's what the "gacha wars" were; it was just BEapes shitposting OOrangutans. It was an almost entirely one-sided, obsessive hatred, kinda like what you still see today in /ffg/, just with gacha instead.

What truly kept /ffg/ alive is that posters here had something to talk about. The gachas provided continually updated content that brought real posters to the thread, where they could talk about the game with other real posters. Not a single person ever bitched about anything when people were talking about BE or WotV, but as soon as anyone mentioned OO (and even when OO wasn't mentioned), someone would start melting down. Oneguy constantly throwing a temper tantrum at OO's existence is not what kept the thread alive, but rather the fact that FF had 3 gachas that real human beings actually played and wanted to talk about with other real human beings.

What is true is that post-gacha /ffg/ has only been kept alive by its shitposter in my opinion, very likely the same shitposter from the gacha days, and he doesn't seem to care that much about spamming the thread with his vitriol anymore.

No, because the story is at the point where the plot needs to beeline towards the end. We literally just transition into the crystaline dominion as it becomes a warzone the every night the party gets into it without seeing any of it because they didn't have the budget to model it. We've long stopped caring about the world building because it doesn't matter. We don't actually see the effect of the loss of 3 mother crystals have on world and now I'm about to get to the 4th one and it's still the same world we were in. It's been 5 years and literally nothing has changed that didn't since cid died. The writers just don't know how to tell this story. It wants to be a balder's gate but fails because it's only a fraction of it's experience because it literally can't afford to spend time on the story. I'm seeing the parts that could be an interesting story squandered by a lack of time, and partially a lack of talent.

She didn't ask cloud not only because she didn't want to see him in that state but because she didn't want to know the truth. I suppose it's a contrivance if you believe people can't or don't act that way. Cloud was the one starting fights and picking on the other kids because he thought he was different from them. He saw them as stupid and childish, only to eventually admit that it was all his fault and that he was the idiot all along.

There's literally a flashback scene showing that she did ask, but every time she tried to communicate, Jenova interfered, and he was hit with intense migraines and started acting all weird. From Tifa's POV, she sees it as a kind of “darkness” coming over him and pulling him somewhere far away, because she has no way of knowing that Cloud has alien cells inside him. In later games, they show this from Cloud's POV, adding the static that blocks out Tifa's words.
