The longer you hold down the button while in the air, the more air drag you have. But it's a jump that has ground-to-air momentum, big time when using Spin Dash and slopes. What you described sounds more like 06's jump, where your forward speed instantly drops and snaps to a static, slow, predetermined speed cap the moment your feet leave the ground. Slopes/momentum don't affect jumps, and you can't even move the character while jumping from a standstill in 06. That feels a lot more like a "jump that's just an animation" or whatever the fuck you just said.

Sonaze is a paradoxical ship because it's specifically aimed at Rush Blaze and Rush is a self contained story about Blaze learning a lesson and leaving with that, becoming Sonic's partner doesn't make sense in this setup so for a Sonaze to exist as a couple you have to create new conditions for Blaze's character
