DD2's DLC has been pretty fun so far. Taking a break from the frozen wastes to explore the "little" caverns that have opened up in the base game. I got the White Beasts and the vessels of the Goddess mixed up in my head.Rhea "created" twelve women to serve as vessels for the Goddess, all of them failures. Sitri, Byleth's mother, was one of these and the crest stone was taken from Sitri as she died in childbirth to be given to Byleth. I had forgotten this rather important detail and made much out of Byleth's origin, then got it mixed up with the origin of the White Beasts. Rather than "children" being used as vessels, it really was only one natural-born child, Byleth, who she used in this way. Jeralt would probably take issue with the idea that his wife wasn't really human, and it's not made clear how Rhea creates life. I can hardly give her a pass for that act of witchcraft, but I had misremembered and made it sound worse than what is confirmed in the game. The White Beasts are a separate issue from the vessels. Seteth is probably ignorant of the vessels but actually knows about this one, saying that initiates in the Church of Seiros (priests and knights) received blood and a crest stone fragment as part of a secret ritual. He also literally calls them Rhea's "children," which probably helps to explain my earlier confusion. They turn into monsters and attack you on the last chapter. Rhea knows how dangerous crest stones are and hands them out like candy to those loyal to her anyway. At one point she simply asks the player not to tell the truth about crest stones (whatever you saw with Miklan and the Lance of Ruin didn't happen, ok?) Rhea is perfectly willing to let humans turn into monsters as long as she maintains power.

Just finished Part Two of Dietrich route in FW. Part Two is a huge step up from Part One. There was a stretch in the middle of Part One where I was running around the world map doing quests all the time where I thought, "ugh, this isn't fun, maybe I should put the game down for a while." It did pick up once I got to do paralogues, to be fair. Part Two strips out all of the busywork and the hub activities to give only six challenging back-to-back maps, bar a very basic hub for deploying to battle. I was apprehensive about this game because the trailer and the direct showed off the larger hub with expanded activities, the world map, the dungeon clashes--all the stuff that made me go "What is this? This is not what I want from a Fire Emblem game." Part Two, on the other hand, gives me exactly what I want from a Fire Emblem game. The premise for the plot kind of came out of nowhere, but I thought it was a really interesting idea too. Really pleased! >>584146835I haven't drawn her outside of the collages for a while.
