Don't know if this is the right place to talk about it, but I couldn't find a Castlevania general. Here are my belated thoughts on the demo for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.1. First of all, it looks absolutely beautiful. It's probably the best looking 2.5D game out there. There's a moment at the end of the demo where the camera zooms out slightly to allow us to see the city and church in the background bathed in red moonlight. It was 10/10 gorgeous as fuck.2. Gameplay-wise it's a much slower Dead Cells with an Igavania skin. Whether this is good or bad depends on you. I personally like it, though it took some time to adjust to the slower pace. Beating the demo's one boss grants you access to a grappling hook that helps you find upgrade items in the environment. It's a metroidvania format through and through in this regard, instead of a linear classicvania (though it does have classicvania elements like breakable walls that contain healing chicken).3. Enemies unfortunately don't have intuitive hitstun. Probably the worst part of the demo. I was able to work around this by basically playing footsies like a mosquito. Your dodge can move you behind the enemy, but you don't actually have i-frames on the dodge, so you have to be predictive as to when enemies will attack. You can't be reactive like you can in Dead Cells.5. Second worst part of the demo is the grappling hook controls. I wasn't able to stick onto grappling points as consistently as I would have liked. This needs the most work.6. I was worried that the dialogue might be insufferable since it uses the same character visuals as the quippy Shitflix adaptation, but mercifully it wasn't. No whispery voice acting and no MCU snark.
Just curious, how much are you all willing to try to solve puzzles on your own before you give up and look for the solution online? And here's a related question: On average, how much time should a person of reasonable intelligence spend on trying to solve a game puzzle before his inability to solve the puzzle becomes less of his fault and more of a fault of bad puzzle design?
>>584102209The answer to both of those is entirely dependent on the complexity of the puzzle.
>>584101043I'm cautiously optimistic. There's a glut of promising metroidvanias coming out soon so I have to be a little judicious.
>>584101043I was surprised how agressive the base enemies wereWasn't expecting to get slapped by regular zombies and skeleton archers
>>584102209It depends on if the puzzle pieces are even visible ingame or not. One of my favorites remain the Pokemon games having Braille in the manual. As we get further into the digital age, nothing has yet to match that.It also depends on how much moon logic is involved. Or if the answer is entirely dependent on clicking random pixels on a 240p screen.
>>584102209I'm incredibly stubborn, I'll either spend an unreasonable amount of time on a particular puzzle or drop the game.
>>584102209>how much are you all willing to try to solve puzzles on your own before you give up and look for the solution online?Consider this.If I bought a game.A game.A video game. That I spent real life money on.That I am putting my own free time in after work and friends. You think anyone with that kind of mindset would completely invalidate the experience that his time and money were invested in by looking up a solution? You must be retarded.
Quickstep is so fucking funny
>>584102209It's very context dependent. I've played puzzle games (particularly minesweeper variants) where I spent over a half-hour looking at a particular puzzle before making the first move. I've had jank as fuck indie games where after five minutes I'm looking shit up to make sure the game hadn't glitched out on me. More important than the puzzle being clear is the puzzle communicating whether the player is simply wrong, using the incorrect method/overlooking something, or lacks the tools to solve the puzzle and needs to come back later. There's not great ways of communicating that which don't feel patronizing.
>>584103503h-he's fast!
>>584103503I don't get it. Why not kill all the zombies in that enclosed space and secure it?
>>584104030They always respawn until you kill the entire town's worth of zombies, that's when they stopeasiest way to do it is with a van in the tunnelsbut you're also timed because you have a nuke on your ass if you take too longso it's almost never worth killing zombies
>>584103503bro got that level 4 pp, damn
>>584104156>They always respawnHa.I really don't like when games do that.>but you're also timed because you have a nuke on your ass if you take too longOH, OKAY. That explains so much of Dead Rising, actually, I never got why people just avoid zombies.
>>584102209>how much time should a person of reasonable intelligence spend on trying to solve a game puzzleEven a puzzle veteran can miss a clue or go down a rabbit hole of wrong assumptions. What really matters consistency. If majority of your testers spend 30 mins walking around aimlessly, then the problem is the puzzle design. If a few tester, even if they are the smart ones, have trouble, then it's probably a fluke. It's still worth to figure out their problem and if you can fix it with some minor adjustments, but you don't need to redesign everything just for their sake.
This game wasted so much of my fucking time but it was pretty fun
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLL if it isn't my favorite fucking respawning bossfight.
>>584102750Yeah, I actually liked the enemies being super aggressive and dangerous. I don't want this to be a game where I'm only really dying to bosses most of the time. I just wish the hitstun was more intuitive. Like what interrupts/stunlocks and what doesn't? Sometimes I can do a full three hit combo to kill an archer. Sometimes he might escape after the 2nd hit and kick me or something.I suppose it's something I just have to manually learn until I understand probabilities of enemies retalitating.
Suck my level 6 pp
>>584104829That art style looks familiar.
>>584105712It's a Russian (I think) artist that has made a bunch of porn and a couple porn games
>>584104272The zombies act more like an obstacle to slow you down than an enemy to be fought. The whole game, series really, is built around timers. The plot, the side stories, and the overall playthrough, constantly throw ticking clocks at you to juggle. And then there's DR4. We don't talk about 4.
>>584108052Well, there goes my interest. I'd be in a game that's about reclaiming the whole map, like They Are Billions, except smaller in scale, I really don't like the idea of zombies spawning out of thin air.
>>584105712he draws gay porn.
>>584108157I don't think your interest was anyone's concern
>>584108157In Project Zomboid there's a game option to only spawn a fixed number of zombies. However PZ generally discourages combat, so it would take forever to reclaim the map.State of Decay doesn't have complete eradication, but you can destroy plague hearts that thins out the herd and set up outposts with fairly large safe zones that prevents spawns. Not enough to cover the entire map, but you can make a small town safe to loot with a couple of them. You can even trap them, so any zombie that steps into the safe zone spontaneously combusts.
>>584108157You might have luck looking for challenge maps for Project Zomboid. Pretty sure I've seen mall and aircraft carrier ones.

you know, I like risk of rain 2, but the cryptic boss encounters, item unlocks, etc etc make it kinda shit. Like bro NONE of that cryptic shit is obvious or fun to do. Like the latest hallows DLC - BRO I DON'T NEED A SECOND JOB AS A.. CRYPTOGRAPHY SOLVER like wtf. Just.... give me a button that gives me an alternate route - like you press a button and for that route the boss and levels are from the DLC - like wtf are these stupid timed challenges and... book pages? what? fuck offwhat is all these piece of shit DLCs? came back after 2023, I have no idea what the fuck is going onthe game already had weird shit like the bazaar, now there's even more cryptic crapworst of all, the items you get from it are shit
>>584102209>On average, how much time should a person of reasonable intelligence spend on trying to solve a game puzzle before his inability to solve the puzzle becomes less of his fault and more of a fault of bad puzzle design?don't think this is something that can be measured by time. It all depends on the puzzle and the game mechanics, and how invested the person is in the game. If the player spends 1h building things, engaging with fun mechanics and "making progress", trying to solve the puzzle, that can still be fun. If the player spends 1h aimless, banging his head against a wall and feeling stuck, that is not fun. Imo, I think its important to give the player a sense of fairness, and that the goal is reachable with his tools and clues.
>>584110536Disagree. I wish there was more esoteric stuff. You would have games kill their soul just for your instant gratification.
>>584115359nah, cryptic retarded shit is hardly "soul" especially when it's so numerous
>>584102209>Just curious, how much are you all willing to try to solve puzzles on your own before you give up and look for the solution online? If it's puzzles with clear rules - very rarely. I looked up a sudoku solver for one of my games after I realized I wasn't having fun solving the first one and had to do it 3 more times for unlocks.>On average, how much time should a person of reasonable intelligence spend on trying to solve a game puzzle before his inability to solve the puzzle becomes less of his fault and more of a fault of bad puzzle design? It's not possible to give concrete parameters here because it depends on the market you're targeting. Average is a very shaky thing in the current year, you have even whites in America being unable to read beyond middle school level because of abysmal schooling and possibly smartphone brainrot. In my personal opinion, the best way to design a puzzle is to design it like a game - lay out concrete rules, and then have the puzzle take place within those parameters. No shitty riddles, no obscure esoteric nonsense, just a clear design that can be consistently followed.

I finished her game yesterday. It was pretty fun, and the aesthetic had a nice charm to it, and the commentary on pursuing your passions was well-executed imo, if a bit ridiculous.Gameplay itself was alright; I personally enjoyed it, though I think the art style did a lot of heavy lifting to make things look more interesting than they actually would be otherwise. I especially liked finding out that you can just blow her shit smooth off; and after that if you fuck around the house with magic you get a little jumpscare that is a little offputting.>>584109791>supplies are limited?NTA, but I would argue that the game has more mechanics to facilitate unlimited survival now (B42) than it's ever had: blacksmithing especially lets you forge swords and metal armor out of whatever scrap you find on the map.Really, the most annoying part is just the time-consuming stat level-up, and the fact that iirc you can't craft/recycle ammo yet (without mods)

So I've 100% finished kynseed. It was truly a meh-game if I've ever seen one. It wasn't "bad" but it wasn't "great". Tried playing Echo Nova but despite the fact the game is about finding shortcuts and learning mechanics as you go through time loops, the game doesn't save your fucking map markers if you quit out. I often see people saying Adam is one of the hardest bosses in DR1, but even as a kid I never had trouble with him. Just shoot him when he's blowing up a balloon, shoot the balloon itself, and you tear off a chunk of his health with a stun for followup attacks. And there's 4 cops with guns always spawning nearby.Just don't try to melee him while he's stunned if you don't have the dodgeroll. That usually ends poorly.

Playing "Well Dweller".A word of warning: submarine controls in underwater levels are garbage when playing with PC controls (keyboard + mouse). Mouse aiming is not supported, and you cannot normally "turn" with keyboard, only rapidly change orientation to four cardinal directions (eight if you continue to hold). Spotlight is freaking out all over the screen. The game becomes basically unplayable.
>>584258837The controls weren't great on gamepad but that's odd that it's shitty to that degree given how similar it was to the sections in Islets.

>>584295046>>584296993Both of those make sense unfortunately. I'm unreasonably picky with Zelda clones so I had misgivings but I'm also in the mood for a Zelda clone after Isle of Reveries and Lenna's Inception didn't do it for me.

>>584331479>Are you the poster from /v/ who said you tried several monhuns and they didn't stick? I'll tell you again, just read/watch a guide for your weapon, the game will become fun.nah, I am the anon who was severely put off by all the cutscenes and slow walking shit in every new area. and your tard handler.I played everything before(since freedom unite at least) and i played rise which i immediately clicked a lot better with.idk. I am sure once i get past that shit it is still the monhun i know and love consisting of "pick monster, beat up monster, craft weapon out of its dead body to beat up its brothers and sisters with faster" but getting there annoyed me.
>>584333369I find it amusing that you bounced off World but managed to get into Rise, when everyone I talked to claimed that Rise was closer to the older MonHun compared to World. But as long as you have fun, who cares which game you like? But yeah, Monster Hunter games are fun because of that, the first hunts are all about survival and playing super safe. Then, as you grow in confidence, you get greedy and proud, and it's less about surviving the hunt and more about hunting them faster, better, or without getting hit once. Your own accomplishments matter more than the hunt. Then you try a harder hunt, and you get humbled because despite the improved equipement, you realize that you grew complacent, and while you now can tank 6 hits from a stronger monster instead of carting in only 3, the higher aggressivity means you spend more time dodging and running.
>>584331772>mean, you play the Warrior of Light and you didn't know about the Final Fantasy XIV crossover?I don't know what that means, I never played and never will play an FF game.I assume that the cactus is crossover content, but I have all crossover content unlocked by default. I don't know if the devs did this now that the game is old, or if it was a byproduct of me using a save editor to replenish my character edit vouches.
>>584334648Ha, my bad, I mistook your armor for Final Fantasy 1's Warrior of Light armor, and I assumed you used crossover content. I remember World having a lot of it, like a skin for the Handler that makes her look like Mister X from Resident Evil.
>>584327491>>584331971>>584334789what game is that?dragon age cisquisition?
>>584334789Oh right. I probably don't have it unlocked by default then, because that one is still unavailable to me.I wish the game had at least a few handler skins to earn via gameplay instead of it all being via purchases and seasonal content. What's worse is probably only that summer bikini outfit actually looks good.
>>584333886>when everyone I talked to claimed that Rise was closer to the older MonHun compared to World.that's probably exactly why i got into it.maybe i should just play Generations again. i only played it on the 3DS and never got to play the g-rank stuff in the switch rerelease.
>>584336675It's Monster Hunter World.I just realized I did that faggot thing that I hate faggots for doing when they blog about the game they're playing but never mention which one it is, which is very faggy. >>584336675Monster Hunter World.>>584336816Well, that, but also I think there's probably no actual Warrior of Light cosmetic in MHW, since it's more of a FF1/SoP cosmetic and the Warrior of Light's presence in FFXIV is kind of a spoiler.>>584336923I mean, if you liked Rise, maybe you'll like it? >>584339020>maybe you'll like it?the question is more if i still like it or if rise has ruined older monhun for me lol.i played Tri and 3U to death, i played 4U and generations to death and i played Freedom unite as much as i could stomach as a dumb kid with its brutal difficulty for the hub quests since there was no dynamic scaling to player number back then.I do hate that they nerfed the cat playstyle into the ground in generations ultimate compared to base generations from what i read or i would do some dumb playthrough with that...

So far I've gone through 3 houses - the communal dorm, the private quarters, and the private suite. Private quarters became available sometime in the middle between the start and the second fight with the kaiju. It's easy to miss because it's just your kot mentioning it offhandedly, I completely missed the first quarters for a good chunk of my playthrough.>>584339020>Well, that, but also I think there's probably no actual Warrior of Light cosmetic in MHW, since it's more of a FF1/SoP cosmetic and the Warrior of Light's presence in FFXIV is kind of a spoiler.I don't know know what any of this means, but I agree. >>584345462To put it simply, I thought you were using a cosmetic armor in >>584327491 because the two antennas reminded me of Final Fantasy 1's main character, who is also present in Stranger of Paradise, as seen in >>584334789.Every Final Fantasy game is more or less independant, so a cross-over with FFXII will feature entirely different characters and monsters than a crossover with FFXIV will. So while FFXIV does have a character ressembling the main character from FF1, his presence in the game is a bit of a story spoiler, hence my confusion, then realization that Square Enix would never put his armor in the game.>>584345693SMALL What the hell is she? >>584346403Dammit, that's probably why I have to change gamepads so frequently.That's it, from now on, one hour of Sonic every week end;
>>584346861>Play on PC with KBM.The game has designed around controller. Using KBM is cancer. I tried it but I couldn't stomach it.
I tried Deep Dish Dungeon for a bit. Shows a decent amount of promise but I wouldn't call its physics system particularly polished which is an issue in a game that wants you lugging boxes around to try and platform off of them.
>>584343624>>584343063lmao at that faceTexture remind me of that old mmo, Pirates of the Burning Sea.

>>584347621An issue of skill. Controller games are just games made by devs too retarded to comprehend a good KBM control scheme. All controller games can be played comfortably with KBM assuming they support mouse button keybinding and you have a mouse with those two side buttons for back and forward.

Man, SO many people screamed for "PLEASE give us PvE mode" in Arc Raiders, How is NOBODY making an extraction shooter style game against giant ass robot bosses? The game was a HUGE hit, nobody's taking inspiration? Just generic "I guess people want more extraction shooters"?
>>584366171To make a PvE game you need to make something that each player enjoys fighting. To make a PvP game you need to make sure the players enjoy fighting each other, which is a self-reinforcing pattern. It's same as games trying to be the next roblox and wanting to lean on user-generated content, or social media platforms wanting users to be the source of the posts. It's much easier to be the venue where your customers entertain each other than to actually entertain them yourself.
>>584366474Yeah, sure. But what I'm saying is: People saw the giant robot fighting of Arc and were like: "Yeah fuck, I love this, I hate getting domed by some random fucker and losing my rocket launcher. Can I just have the first part please?" and they were like: "no".

Holy shit, i really forgot how bad the bloat was in generations. Did I really need a villager request for each village that explains to me that by doing requests for a village I earn contribution points towards that village?!And why the hell does 2 star village already have THIRTY EIGHT quests? Normally they have like 10. I usually enjoy doing all the quests in a rank before moving on and i also somehow did that back on the 3DS but this might be a bit much. i feel like they could have spaced out the villages a bit and not dumped them all at once on you. I definitely get why this game was not at all for newcomers to the series(even though i desperately tried to get some friends into it).And with that i will go to bed. don't die.
>>584375485That's what I'm afraid of for myself as well.

Man, I need some kind of shooter or whatever where I can do a fun build. Something like Borderlands or Cyberpunk, Some shooter where you can just get a shitton of synergizing abilities and go ham. No 2D, no top down, no survivor-like. Just a character that starts with fuck all, and ends up being a god of destruction risk of rain 2 style. But I think I fucking played everything.
>>584382297A shooter where you can build? Something like Sanctum, Icarus, or more like Fortnite?
>>584382851anon...
>>584383124Oh, I misread, sorry. So like Ziggurat, Tower of Guns, or Mothergunship, except not a roguelike...
>>584383340Yeah stuff like that. But I honestly think I just played everything. I've got fucking over a thousand games on steam, and I'm all played out. Nothing seems interesting.
>>584384060Well, I'm sorry, I have no idea. Usually you can only have weird stuff in either RPGs (again, Borderlands, Hellgate London, or whatever), but it's usually in roguelikes that you cna do really broken stuff.
>>584382297Very little stuff with permanent progression goes full RoR2 just because it's hard for that to not trivialize the game once you're at critical mass. Tainted Grail was surprisingly good for letting you get stupid with spells clearing out entire rooms by endgame but that's more of a Elder Scrolls RPG type thing. My current FPS RPG obsession has been Blood West but even at endgame you die real fucking quick if you're not careful even if you're capable of killing damn near anything with a headshot.
>>584384060outriders? the division?
>>584385167Outriders is fucking ass. Impressively so. You have to wake up pretty goddamn early in the morning to make your game that generic and that shitty. Writing that makes Borderlands look eloquent and multi-layered with progression that makes Destiny seem reasonable. I still got 20 hours in it.
>>584385707>destiny Didn't mention it but sure that works.
>>584382297Ever tried Ghostrunner 1 and 2? They are neat game, basically you play as a cyberpunk samurai and gotta go fast, by the end it become pretty hectic as you unlock more powers and etc. Also I cant recall if it was the case for the first game, but I remember the 2nd had a hard mode ng+ which was genuinely insane at time as the whole layout of levels get changed to fuck you over, in addition to lighting fast enemies.
>>584382297Pax Autocratica kinda tries to do that. It's fun for me so far but I only played a single run of it.
>>584364545Lol you call this bad luck? I regularly get absurdly awful strokes of bad luck whenever whenever I play anything that involve RNG or luck, shit like missing an 80% roll 7 times in a row kind of annoying shit.

>>584387047I do have Ghostrunner 1 on steam but never played it. I'll give it a download.
Every time I see the Roottrees are Dead steam page, I just can't believe they replaced all art just for moralfaggotry reasons. The photorealistic images are much better and even in points where it looks silly, its funny and you can see the effort of the dev in improvising with limited tools (ai was much, much worse back then), it and it looks much more charming because of it. The human artist they hired has the most generic cartoon art and the AI improvisation in the original is actually more soulful. Also, the game probably wouldn't exist if the dev didn't have access to ai while making the original. Yet, you get all this moral faggotry.
>>584398391easier to justify charging money for it
I need games like funny games but for video games.
>>584399361I don't blame the dev all that much, imagine the flak he would get, if he tried to sell a product with the "controversial" art, but this whole situation is just ridiculous.
>>584399653The new art is hideous. Something you'd find in a free metro newspaper in a the-left-cant-meme comic strip.
I'm at what I think is the end of Silver Pines. Two questions for anons who have discovered all the secrets. (Incoming "spoilers" for three item names and a location name): Where do you use the Attic Key? Where do you use the Syringe? And finally, where do you find the handle that you use in the cold storage room of the PD? Don't have to explicitly answer these, but a general hint or a "go here" would be helpful. Also for anyone on the fence I can heartily recommend this game. They managed to translate survival horror really well to a sidescroller.

>>584417692...aw.
>>584416583>>584416701>>584416791An update fixed it up a somewhat. But yeah, it's not great.I always thought that ironically the main issue for AI is human error. AI fags think that it's a way to make art with zero effort, so they all they end up making is slop and because they have no taste they end up spanning that slop on every thread and booru they can find.AI is good for quickly making low quality content with no effort or mediocre content with medium effort and people should use it with that in mind. Every once in a blue moon it can make something actually good, but don't delude yourself into thinking it isn't a fluke.I think the Roottree dev understood that so he actually did some quality control over what the AI churned out. You can't make several dozen images that don't immediately scream AI without that.

>>584422672>AI fags think that it's a way to make art with zero effortPretty much this. I see a lot of niche fetish porn made with AI, and it's always sloppy with obvious crap that shouldn't be here, and errors that the """"artist"""" doesn't think of fixing. For example, that one "comic" I found once of a girl getting spanked by her mom. A few times during the comic, the background changes, with the bed moving around, or the characters just flip, facing the window, then facing away from the window...
>>584391824That's actually impressive. All games should use PoE's deterministic entropy in hit roll RNG.
>>584416791>>584417618Someone please redpill me on this jigsaw autism. Someone here once said he plays nothing but jigsaws and I can't unsee that. Those replies in this thread are really odd too, if you think about it.
what in the shit
>>584375571>Holy shit, i really forgot how bad the bloat was in generationsDo I have to remind you of the hours and hours long tutorial of Worlds?By the way I wonder if Wilds is worth it now. But as I said, my controller is ded.
>>584435462>Do I have to remind you of the hours and hours long tutorial of Worlds?I couldn't even get into Worlds.>By the way I wonder if Wilds is worth it now.idk. the initial reception was so shit i don't even wanna touch it. maybe it got better with the updates?I'll wait and see if I hear good shit about the expansion.
>>584436037>I couldn't even get into Worlds.I played all the game before the Iceborn DLC with frens. Frens that no longer play, so I have have barely started the Iceborne DLC. And last time I gave it a try I was so rusty that kept carting all the fucking time. Maybe I should try what that anon said about using KBM now that I forgot completely everything.>idk. the initial reception was so shit i don't even wanna touch it. maybe it got better with the updates?>I'll wait and see if I hear good shit about the expansion.I heard that besides the awful performance, it doesn't has as much content as World at launch.
Are there any games on steam from the last lets say 5 years that are *better* with controller? And I don't mean "have good controller support" I mean actively better with controller than M&KB? I finally got myself a PS5 controller and right now I'm just playing Galactic Racer. (Starting your engine having a noticeable resistance on R2 that you need to overcome like turning a key is a nice touch). The only others I can think of are more racing games like Forza, and maybe Death Stranding? I'm torn there, because it has a lot of shooting which obviously: KB&M supreme. But I heard it makes great use of the analog triggers to do the balancing and walking. While on KB&M you just do "hold the button to not fall over".
>>584437002What really soured me on Wilds was the bird mount thing and the maps. Quest starts, get on bird, takes you straight to the monster. As opposed to the classic games that used the "check every zone until you find the monster, then paintball it so you can track it" tedium. I thought World had a good balance. World did have too many cutscenes which you couldn't skip, although I think they made a mod for that. Maybe when the Wilds expansion comes out I'll go back.
This isn't recoverable, is it?
>>584437473All personal preference of course, but for me any game with analog movement feels better with a controller. Anons talking ITT about MH, damn, I can't imagine playing that one with KBM. But again, some people have no problem with it and it obviously can be done. For anything that requires precision map movement like strategy games, I like KBM better. Valve attempted to improve that issue with the Steam Controller, and it is a great controller, but for me the touch pads can't compare to a real mouse (though they are worlds better than a stick). For FPS I see the argument for KBM being better, but I don't play any competitive games so I don't need that extra precision. Guys playing Counterstrike or whatever probably see a controller and think it's a burning cross. For your Death Stranding example, on controller you could just hold L2 and R2 simultaneously and solve almost all your balancing troubles. Might've changed in the sequel, I didn't get too far in that one.As far as the PS5 controller goes I do like it, it's comfortable, does what I need. Don't care for the touchpad or the light on top. I'd rather they had slapped a bigger battery in that puppy. Haven't had problems with drift yet. The adaptive triggers I always turn off in games if given the option because they don't add anything for me and it seems like just another part that can wear out and break. I recall them being used in TLOU2 to offer some resistance when pulling the trigger to make it feel "real." I like to keep it simple and if they stopped adding rumble to games I probably wouldn't care one way or the other. I think all the "big three" actually have great current controllers, can't really go wrong with any of them.Lots of rambling to essentially say just b urself. :^)
>>584437473The only game I can think of at all was AC7 and that's only because the mouse and keyboard implementation was absolute shit and that was also 7 years ago.
>>584438313Depends. Who are you playing?>impregnable pedophileum excuse me what the blyat
>>584439220>MHHonestly? The games that came to PC all have pretty good M&KB support. Specially the newest one. The ability to quickly adjust directions aim at stuff, it's just so much better. Plus, how much analog movement do you need in MH, really? You can sneak if you want to sneak, and otherwise you're full sprint all the time. I started MH on console (obviously because it never was on PC before) and I don't miss controller at all. >touchepadYeah honestly the touchpad is hella awkward, not a big fan. But I grew up with nintendo and playstation instead of Xbox, so I much prefer a PS2 style controller. But I'm not above admitting the touch pad is ass.>adaptive and rumbleTo me that's one of the biggest perks. I mean adapative trigger is cool, but must be used sparringly. I don't think I want it on every press, I want it on key moments where something is supposed to be "difficult to overcome".But rumble? I fucking love rumble. Hitting the gravel in a racing game and having your controller start rattling your hands? Peak. Fucking peak. The only thing I never fully got to appreciate is: controller audio. The Wii tried it and it was ass. PS5 is not much better. For one: I always wear headphones so that makes it ass from the start. secondly: my speakers are always such noticeably higher quality than the controller speakers, that it doesn't feel like "oh my god, the sound is coming from right by me" it feels like: "oh no, some kid left their cheap sound making toy in my lap". >>584440343Oh yeah, AC7. I never finished that.
>>584430413You need the rare Pattern Recognition skill
>>584440650Oh yeah, I always turn off the controller speaker in any game that allows it. For me, the best thing a controller can do is make me forget I'm even using it. This discussion has me thinking about the best "feeling" game to play. The type of game where you can slip inside the controls like a glove and just get total control. Let me think on it.
>>584441183Annoying bonus point: Windows recognizing that your controller has sound output, and deciding: "Oh clearly he wants that to be his main output for everything!" and starts blasting the whole game audio through the fucking controller. Best feeling? Hmm It felt pretty good and natural with Expedition 33.
>>584440343>>584440650That reminds me. AC6, the Armored Core one, not Ace Combat.KBM has this absolutely atrocious target lock implementation that makes it a real PITA against agile enemies. I think it's a stupid hold to target lock instead of a more logical toggle.Otherwise the game played fine, except for Ibis and the final boss. Ibis you can cheese with missiles at least.
>>584437473The only game (series) I've found that benefits from using a controller despite having good mkb support is Nioh. The way the stances map to the face buttons paired with using R1 as a modifier is very elegant and I couldn't find a keyboard alternative.
>>584443732>NiohMan. I tried twice to get into this game and just couldn't. Don't know why. I finished all the Dark Souls games, Elden ring etc, But Nioh just never did it for me.
