Ravencraft will not recover anytime soon, especially with Forever's release around the corner. The problem with all Turtle clones is that they have no development and no actual plan to continue with Turtle's roadmap. The majority of Turtle players are not playing on Octo or Raven. If that was the case, Octo would have 10k+ pop. Northshire + Ambershire had like 15-20k peak, and had 10k online (combined) most of the time. From my experience there is also a lot of people that never played on Turtle on Octo, would be interesting to do a population survey on that. At least from my Turtle guild, there are maybe 30% that gave Octo a try, and maybe 20% that are still currently playing there.

It’s not impressive because it was done two years ago. And having tried 1.14 on a 1.12 server I can tell you it is worse than 1.12. There is way too much delay that it’s unplayable. Feels like you are in another room telling a retard what keys to press and then they scramble to find them on the keyboard.

The constant server restarts during peak hours were annoying too. I've heard its gotten better, but there is just something about the whole project that feels like a sham. Every interaction with corpse / flight master / vendor / quest giver had slight delay. I never had issue like this on any other server. On the other hand, the spells were working properly.
