That one's interesting because they did have minor stealth in 7. Also what the hell I hadn't noticed F-22 gets its stealth nerfed for multiplayer, why did they think that was a good idea?
I also find it odd that EA-36 has slightly better stealth than FA-36. Are the hump and the wingtip pods that stealthy?
>>
>>585113703
The A-10 exists to be bad. It's supposed to be a meme. It was never good in any AC game in any mission.

Its probably a balancing thing to have all the end game fighters of f22/fa36/su57 have thevsame stealth.

technically it had FAEBs and the meme skin in 6 which meant it was usable

dunno how y'all buddies feel about fics but I've brainstromed a rough draft for a game before 8 and I feel really funny about it since there were some parallels to my idea and the final game and I felt like sharing for quite a while even before the game came out
>starts off with a prologue mission where you play as an Erusean ace pilot during the lighthouse war
>get shot down by a lone ace
>the screen cuts to black after you crash
>a glowing red ring appears on the screen, diagnostics starts flashing
>camera zooms out of the diagnostics screen and pans towards an EASA ground crew doing launch checks on an MQ-99 launch platform
>you now play as the robo-soul/pseudo-sublimated of the downed pilot from the prologue

It doesn't come with the iso per se but rather with a bunch of files extracted out of the iso, which is what the recompiler does if you run it next to it.
I used this, had no issues with it. The only thing you execute is the recompiler itself anyway, you can grab it directly from github, the one in your link isn't the newest version anyway, not that it's critical or anything.

>>585114957
The Su-47 was a testbed for stealth technology, not a stealth aircraft itself. It demonstrated the ability for Sukhoi to make stealth components and features but was never designed as an actual LO/VLO airframe.
Forward swept wings, for one, are notoriously bad for stealth.

I was thinking that it'd be your bog standard bomber interception mission 1 mission but having the tutorial mission be one where EASA techs are trying to get the drone to properly fly would be kino so god forbid maybe I'd just make the prologue a DFM section
>>
>>585115146
>>585115340
No, but it does make it easier and is pretty much a requirement for a truly stealth aircraft. It's an extreme example and still meaningless since both will still be detected at combat ranges, but the B-1 is reported to have a lower radar signature than something like an F-15.
>>
>>585114028
>why did they think that was a good idea?
Because a QAAM-slinging, PSM-capable plane with the best manoeuvrability in the game is already powerful enough. Imagine if it could also shoot you down without any warning while you're fighting someone else, or if you could lose tracking (and thus the ability to follow it) when dogfighting it.
>>
What's Genette up to these days do you think
>>
>>585115745
I am not trying to say that the Su-47 is a stealth aircraft, just that maybe aircraft with some radar signature reduction features like the suberbug could get a low stealth level in the game like how it was in 7, its not like it makes a giant difference but would be best nonetheless.

Well it was my first proper entry into the series, the only thing I really didn't like was the final boss fight being so stupidly scripted, break sequence and you fucked it

I've seen worse games that strayed off from their respective series, as for 7 being taken down well considering the licensing shit happening I wouldn't be surprised but it's less likely with 7 because it's actually fucking good and worth keeping as a modern entry point especially when a steam sale is on

But this is bamco, I can only speculate into their retardation
>>
>>585118040

LAAM was still pretty good in 7, stealthsnipers were a pain in the ass
But they were easy to counter
Really just stealth in general and PSM nonsense made multiplayer super lame and terrible, people only ever flew a handful of the same planes and loadouts

there's not really any fair way to do it as of right now so that everybody is compensated fairly, someone always loses out and in this case it's the consumer. it makes sense for the aircraft manufacturer to lose out because realistically how much money is an aircraft manufacturer going to make from contracting out their license to a video game company? a few tens of millions, max? that doesn't even account for 0.1% of their yearly revenue. they're just being overly stingy with the length of the contracts for no good reason
>>
>>585121746
LAAMs in 7 kinda sucked anywhere below 7k.

TLS was not meta in ACI. There were very few people that used it. Probably because the only fighter that got it was the Falken and it was obscenely expensive.
Popular air specials were QAAM, HVAA, and 6AAM (only on normal maps, the hard mode health boost made them bad there). Though the real air meta was just buffing standard missiles to be godlike.
Popular ground specials were FAEB, SFFS, LAGM/LASM. Early on UGB and LAGM were insanely overpowered so everyone was using them but then they got nerfed so that changed. LACM was actually pretty bad in ACI. It only became good in 7.

They have the longest lock-on range in the game and the second highest flight speed, so any LAAMboat gets first pick of all the juicy aerial targets, which makes them so broken in Assault.

Don't know about the pic, but it's a very real thing. Sometimes you can get away with replacing parts, but others they basically break their back to get you back on the ground. I can't recall the incident, but I had a really cool crossection image of a passenger jet that had been overloaded several times over, and the real pictures actually show how the wings twisted and the airframe warped during the event, and the cross section showed that every single point had overloaded, it was basically a razor thin margin off from the thing ripping itself to pieces. I'll try to find it.

First off,
> bradley esque reasons
Pentagon Wars was not a documentary and James Burton was a fucking retard (as all reformers are)
Secondly, it’s pretty well known that the Air Force picked the less stealthy, more maneuverable aircraft because they were, and still are, in the grip of the fighter mafia who think stealth is a fad and maneuverability is king.
Thirdly, it doesn’t matter because the YF-22 was much further along in development than the YF-23. And look at the amount of shit the F-22 gets for being expensive, then imagine how much more it would have gotten if they had went with the less mature design.
Lastly, the grass isn’t actually greener, you fucking retard.

>Secondly, it’s pretty well known that the Air Force picked the less stealthy, more maneuverable aircraft because they were, and still are, in the grip of the fighter mafia who think stealth is a fad and maneuverability is king.
this is internet nonsense. i already said the real reason it's maneuverable.
it's a high-altitude BVR platform. when you're at high altitude, there's less air, so your control surfaces are less effective and it costs more energy to move.
the F-22 can move more efficiently with less air, which means it can use more energy to go higher faster, which means its no-escape zone is higher, which is what it's made to do. it makes plenty of logical sense when you understand the fluid dynamics
>>
>>585129161
I think intuitively
>A plane with stealth geometry
Simply isn't going to fly like a plane, which is why fly by wire is mandatory
>they don't want to give away its full capabilities
In a pushing 30 year old fighter?
It's been shown that in the same series of mock battles the raptor excels at what it excels at, getting a missile lock and fucking off before you do the same to it

oh buddy.. it's the same reason that astronauts can't turn in zero g.
ailerons and elevators aren't magical. they only work when the air pushes against them, which leverages the airframe. if there's no air to push the control surfaces, the plane just goes in a straight line from the thrust of the engine

If you pace out your missiles as the game intended it launches at drones that actively fly interception patterns and they can and will eat your missiles for the ladons
When I did my ace hunt I gave them a chance to "form change" and the drones do actively fly into your missiles

I think the raptor can dogfight better than other Gen5s. That can matter in a hypothetical battle against peer gen5s. I think many gen 4's can outmaneuver a raptor, but who cares? The meta changed. >>585134685
way less. as long as the canards are angled the same as the other wings they shouldn't compromise the frontal RCS too much (frontal is the one that matters the most).

The 57 is a funny plane. I suspect that it maneuvers better than the 22, but that the 22 mogs it in stealth and avionics (which is what matters most IRL). I am however gleefully looking forward to 5th gens in warblunder and I suspect the 57 to be the strongest gen 5 in that game by a mile. Not necessarily because of dev favoritism, but just because of the way people in that game fly. Almost nobody stands off and does BVR combat. They call dive onto the deck and then leap headfirst into visual range. Within visual range I suspect that the 57 will have an advantage. On top of that the 57 is one of the few planes that employs a DIRCM countermeasure system, which might be the only way to meaningfully defend yourself against advanced modern FOX-2s. I question how well it works IRL, but even a spotty DIRCM in game will be a sight better than planes that don't have it at all.

I'm going to laugh so fucking hard watching americans using the F-22 to bomb bases with dumb bombs just like they did with the F-15 and F-4 before it.
>>
>>585134650
Prove it. Evading missiles is all about awareness, angles, and not getting overwhelmed. LAAMs are easy to evade in a 1v1, while a 2v1 is a dogshit situation to be in no matter your opponent's weapon. In fact, standard missiles are more reliable in that case because of the targeting bonus.
>>
>>585134685
Typically the more retarded a plane looks I've found the more likely it is a good stealth plane

Lowering activation time will help but not as much as you'd want, unless they completely gut its uptime. The real problem is that ECM/IEWS shuts down the game almost completely while its up, because the vast majority of players aren't going to be able to compete guns only when their enemies have missiles. Bombs and dumbweapon planes are unaffected but still get tied up by having an enemy targeting them, which still achieves the goal of hindering groundpounders from scoring.

That's what's so frustrating about warblunder. The core of the game has the potential for so much. But they deliberately shit it up. It's still mostly just a placeholder team deathmatch fight. Battleratings are far too compressed just to make things frustrating to encourage people to try to climb to toptier or open their wallet for an easier climb. Then hillariously their april fools Nuclear Thunder event gave people a glimpse of what kind of greatness the game could have if they were to ape Nuclear Option with having a large game mode with objectives deeper than "go deathmatch LOL" and balanced teams. But then they immediately returned to shitting things up.

You know how when you roll your plane veers off of the tight "tube" it should be rolling in? Stability
>Pitch
Iirc it's the over steer, the "response lag" is the maneuverability and the oversteer that follows is stability
>Yaw
See pitch
I THINK is how it works
Just do a minimum maneuverable 57 vs a max maneuverable and the response times and ease of getting the gun on target is fucking insane

The X-40 should deliberately detach the escape pod as an independent fighter, and then the hull section should be a loyal wingman fighter drone that works in concert with you and is issued orders like the campaign wingmen. What kind of steam auth does it want?
You could try copying over the ACZ files to your laptop, adding it to steam as a non steam game, and running it that way.
If it only checks for AC8 ownership on bootup(and that's tied to your account) then it should work just fine.

If your PC and laptop are on the same network and in the some workgroup(or domain but I doubt you have that set up) you can just use Windows default smb admin shares to copy only the ACZ folder to your laptop.
I just tried it and it works.
Even if you rename your Ace Combat 8 game folder(the one where all the content is) you can still launch Zero by just running the executable while Steam is open. It will open the menu asking you whether you want to play AC8 or ACZ so that's a workaround if you don't want a 136 gig AC8 install just to play ACZ.

I think the problem is that the Ladons come out of nowhere from a gameplay mechanic perspective. All bombers, and even fighters, are fairly easy to catch up to and suddenly you're faced with a bomber you can barely catch up to even when they slow down.
The fix to this for me would be to have like, I dunno, an enemy Nighthawk, Valkyrie, or Tu-160 as an intermediate step. Teach the player "here is a really fast bomber that requires interception skills". Not doing that creates this jump in difficulty.

NTA, but I still play Elite. The forum dad had the most retarded shit takes but would bless each developer decision as if it were the sacred word of God. They want "space legs" to walk around their ship but can't articulate the mechanics a features that it would add to the game. They wanted long delivery timers when shipping ship modules between the dozens of assorted stations that we might have ships and modules stored at for their immersion. This problem was only rectified by the addition of fleet carriers where we could consolidate our assorted piles of stuff. The forum dads were VEHEMENTLY against fleet carriers because they wanted to be useless tiny cogs in the machine, and then they LOVED the idea of fleet carriers the moment fdev added it.

Player colonization was another category where the dads were schizophrenic. They didn't want players building infrastructure in the galaxy because we were supposed to be too small to matter. Then FDEV added it and they changed their tune to applaud it. But colonization is shit. It's grindy, serves no real purpose, only barely turns a profit in the most miserly technical definition of the term. Seriously in a vacuum building materials make a "profit" over galactic average standard prices, but cost of tritium to shuttle goods to the construction site dwarfs YEARS worth of projected passive income from the colony taxes.

They're lucky that the game is comfy and relaxing in a eurotruck simulator kind of way. The devs and community are ass.

Finally can join the threads, beat the game on Elite yesterday, 10/10 no notes.

Im far from being good or even a hardcore Ace Combat enthusiast, and i found Topkek to be hard because Im not that good with the guns but I found a strategy thats slightly less shit than get behind enemy -> shoot missile and got him eventually. People say the Ladons were hard but I found them to be normal, a decent challenge sure but nowhere near difficult, I just listened to what was being said on the radio and that was enough of a clue on how to beat them.

So I dont get the patch, maybe they couldve just made the tweak to easier difficulties, but Im glad I beat the game before the update. Can I stop steam from updating my game? Id like to do an Ace difficulty run someday

I didn't hate First Contact, but yeah I can mostly agree with that. I think I just like his voice acting a lot more than Toprek's which does a lot of heavy lifting.

Lost Kingdom is a pretty short mission which also helps.

>mission 3 Lux Lunae fight is actually optional, if you say yes a return line spawns for you to run away
>if you say no they are scaled difficulty wise for like mission 20+ so good luck on first playthrough

Granted people would just refuse to run and checkpoint spam into them until they win. Part of what makes Crimson work in mission 6 is that PW has no checkpoints so you have to redo the entire mission if you ego fight them and die.
>>

Yes they're only random drops from Scrambles. If you really really want to penny pinch just remember five missions = five blueprints challenge with every plane.

Wingman has some hidden ones like "do not cross this big red line on the map" in one of the early missions which spawns a big naval fleet and the lategame F-15s with lategame AI on them. I think I read somewhere they spawn with merc diff AI no matter what difficulty you're playing.

No story consequences to that though, just that you're probably going to die if it's your first playthrough or you're rusty on these games.
