Yea, it's just the vinyl collection plus the deluxe version of the game. Even comes in two packages. My Steam version was literally just a piece of cardboard with a code on it lol.

Japs got a steelbook, a USB drive with the OST, sticker set, dogtags, and a pin set. Gaijins get shafted as usual.

okay, how about if you pitted the antagonist squadrons and rivals throughout the series in a battle against each other? I feel like including Dision wouldn't be that bad considering his AI wasn't capable against Nemo, BUT it did take going inside the internet to destroy him completely, so just the humans again for this question.

>What if the reason TLS isn't blocked by clouds is because they reused Tonitrus Spear guidance laser code?

having had a tiny bit of experience looking behind the scenes at how weapons in games are coded, I am CERTAIN that "blocked by clouds" is literally just one of like a dozen checkboxes that exists for every weapon, which they could enable at any time

Man I'm super hyped for the update when online gets like fifteen more maps and longer missions and adjustable player counts and special rebalances and more planes and idolmaster collab (with my idol) and fixing the awful menus and a complete rework of the blueprints system (gold and normal) and a rematch button instead of needing to matchmake an entire new server each time and probably more good things I forgot.
Probably coming really soon, it's going to be great.
>>
is there any sort of matchmaking in multiplayer or cost balancing?

>>
>>585549087
That's a lot of changes, you reckon they will have it all ready for AC9?
>>
>>585548742
Some guy was datamining things and said the Razgriz F-14 had different abilities. It had the +plus zoll gained ability I think.
It's possible he was lying/wrong but he posted videos of other datamined things so it seems reliable.
>>585548840
Well ACI didn't sell planes at least.
Did make them tournament rewards so you needed to either save up months worth of free fuel or buy extra, but you couldn't buy them outright.
>>
>>585549112
You get the Morgan at level 1 of the battle pass, before even playing a single match, so they could have been legitimately brand new.
There seems to be slight SBMM since if you keep winning you start getting level 2 and level 3 missions, and seeing the same names over and over.

>>585548742
Remember they're forgoing traditional DLC planes in favor of battlepasses and selling the plane afterwards.
The battlepass may be an Online thing but the planes themselves still need to appeal to the singleplayer only crowd
>>
>>585548693

why should I care about one supranational organization / corpo over any other?
>>
>>585549187
I think there is some rating based matchmaking just because I have to wait a long fucking time to get games now and I didn't when I was lower rank.
It's not just because most people have figured out online sucks and stopped playing, because I can run around in the lobby and see various people fading out from existence as they get games. There are constant blue suits disappearing while I'm waiting five minutes to get told matching cancelled because no opponent found.

>Most of GR units are just normal planes reskin what are we talking about
COFFIN is a cool aesthetic and for all their flash Neucom planes don't perform meaningfully better than GR's kit apart from flight ceilings in a single mission. Even in their own route Neucom still keeps coming back to White Valley base because they can't knock it out properly, and GR's still planning attacks on Megafloat when Ouroboros kicks things off.

Also in general Delphinus are overrated fictional plane designs. I'd rather look at the Falken or XFA-27.

I doubt that there is SBMM for the emergency sorties, and I see a lot of the same names in those. I honestly just feel like there is regional partitioning of players for matchmaking. I changed lobbies earlier and there were two options. A 30 player lobby and a 1 player lobby. I doubt that online is dead to the point where it's just 31 players.

Basically a lot of IMO mismanagement with what's allowed on the site. Massive amounts of AI generated galleries, and the allowance of EXTREMELY (like really really really really fucking bad) low quality AI MTLed translations so users can farm points for uploader privileges.
Basically AI hit the place like a bunker buster hits a Land Battleship and the site admins have no desire to deal with it in any meaningful way much to the chagrin of many users.

>>
>>585552750
Different anon. Attackers get +50% damage to ground targets and a single SFFS will delete a shield layer, compared to a double UGB + double missile from the Phantom. F-4 flies better and its guns fire straight, but the Su-25 also gets gunpods that fire straight and its regular downward pointing gun does double the damage of the F-4's gun before any other modifiers.

You know how you can gun down the second phase of cooling units by flying straight with your Phantom and just going near-stall slow? The Frogfoot deletes those faster with just its regular gun.
>>
>>585553079
Is that faster than just deleting stuff with the gunpods?

All they have to do is ban AI genned image galleries and other low quality unorganized galleries, focus on archiving artist works and enforce a moderately stricter policy on translations. MTL is never going away (it's been a thing for years) but you can at least demand some fucking effort and quality control from them instead of letting faggots game the system slopping out beyond sub par translations so they can get site privileges
>>

Once you're in position to shoot, the Su-25 certainly saves time on DPSing the targets down. Bout conversely it wastes time getting into position to fire its guns compared to the F4.

I just don't trust Disney after fumbling the franchise for over a decade, but X-Wing/TIE Fighter were some pivotal titles for the old space flight/combat flight games forever ago and Japs love Star Wars. Project Aces getting the license and giving their junior devs or associates (like the Access Games folks who did all the handheld Ace Combat titles) while the oldheads supervise sounds like it'd be cool.

The old games also play surprisingly well remapped to a controller Ace-Combat style, with the caveat that you still want to be near your keyboard or something for lesser used functions you didn't end up mapping to the gamepad.

Skill cap insanely high. Once you learned the power management and drift tech to always have full bars in everything and constantly be drifting around you could legit solo a deathmatch lobby and go like 30/0 if nobody on the enemy team had practiced all that shit.

In short you don't lose engine power while drifting (couple seconds), so during your drift, you would take all power out of engines and into guns+shields to overcharge those, or just guns in a shieldless TIE, then back into engines as your drift ends, followed by another drift. It gave both evasion and offensive power way above normal play.

Also the final balance patch kinda fucked over the rebels by nerfing the A-wing to a pretty unjustified degree leaving it significantly worse than the TIE Interceptor and the TIE Defender, latter of which was its own entire fucking problem as it was a little "lore accurate" let's say.

>>585554067
Funny enough I played Squadrons in VR. Doing all the movement and power tech in that trained my VR tolerance to infinite. I really liked flying the Defender even though it was objectively broken as fuck.

The jump in detail between 7 and 8 is actually insane.
>>
>>585556234
It's great. PA had to delay the balance update but their change went through to make Zero "standalone" (it's still currently part of 8 so you technically have two copies on your computer) with achievements, just like it is for the console versions. Perfect timing since I'm about to finish my final run for medals and will soon have 100%'d 8.

That's part of the fucking problem with Disney. The old EU novels handled it a hell of a lot better. The reason the empire was able to persist for as long as it did was because the empire wasn't entirely evil. The Emperor was evil. A lot of high ranking officials were evil. But the empire provided good for the galaxy too. The empire was extremely efficient at policing the shipping lanes and keeping them safe. Criminal cartels were pushed back into Hutt space.

When the Empire fell, many worlds consolidated into the Imperial Remnant not because they had dark hearts or had tyranical forces holding a gun to their heads. They remained in the Imperial Remnant instead of joining the New Republic because life was safer and more prosperous under imperial rule than it had been under the Old Republic, and quite frankly the New Republic was a hell of a lot worse than the old republic for quite a number of years as it repeatedly shat the bed a few times with its growing pains of transitioning from a terrorist group to a governing body. Gilad Pellaeon is an example of an imperial officer that embodies the good and honorable facets of the empire.

Y'know, "Wings of Theve" is kinda a shit tagline for 8. Literally just the thing they call you in-game. As if 5 was called "Demons of Razgriz". Not nearly as good as "Unsung War" or "Fires of Liberation".

this picture reminded me

whenever you sortie for a mission and it gives you that ~3-second-long animation of your plane being towed out of the hangar, look at the interior side of any of the landing gear wheels, front or back
in almost every case, only the exterior side of the wheel (and maybe even just the wheel body / hubcap-looking part, not even the tire) is animated to rotate
the interior side of the wheels in AC8 almost never rotates

I mean Ukraine did embrace the meme pretty hard and even named an air squadron after the myth (whose emblem coincidentally looks like the one the Ghost Squadron from 7's VR campaign has). The funniest part to me is someone from either the government or their intelligence service saying 'Yeah bro we totally made that up to boost morale when shit was fucked six ways from Sunday, and that's why we kept the Russians away from Kyiv,' when the reality is that the Russians just fucking suck at literally everything and that the myth was made up by some faggotass War Thunder YouTuber to farm clout off an actual war where people were dying.
>>
>>585558829
Dog fights are more interesting when the flight models are more realistic and you actually have to give a shit about air speeds, gravity, energy retention, etc. AC is a fun PvE experience but trying to take it seriously for PvP is one step removed from PvPing in 6 degree of freedom space games where both parties just point their noses at each other and magdump while orbiting each other in circles.

It's far too off topic for me to get into here, but that's really more a result of Georgie boy committing the classic movie blunder of making the bad guys look badass as fuck. They were never intended to be anything but stock bad guys that get BTFO by the plucky heroes ala Nazis in a 50's WW2 movie. But shit even then you had characters like Piett or Veers who were enough for the audience to get why anyone would throw their lot in with the Empire. Here's the thing though there's like 8 boards to talk about videogames on. In the late 2000s when the culture was finest there was only /v/.
The traffic was minimal enough that it could handle it. Over the years as that traffic expanded, so did the need for forum volume, so /vg/, /vp/, /vr/, etc. were created. So now all the communities are spread around into generals, like villages on islands, on a sea of traffic.
All the bulletins we used to scribble on the walls are all sunken with the old streets. And the diversification we got from that intermingling isn't really there anymore, since you have to go out of your way to find communities. I wouldn't have played ACZ if I hadn't stumbled across a thread about it in the 2000s while spouting memes about demon's souls.

Every once in a while you'd find an individual among all the anonymous meme spewing rabble who you could just talk to.

This was never going to happen because the basic principles - neural networks - have been freely available to the public for decades, maybe even a half century by this point.
And even in the government's hands, they'd still be dangerous. This whole "race to AGI and superintelligence" is effectively "race to a nuke" but digital. And in the end it'll just result in an uncontrollable monster that governments will have to put down.

I'm on team Strike-Eagle, but all the attacker options are pretty strong. SFFS has much more potential than standard bombs, but it requires skill to use correctly; you can screw yourself over by being too low or nose-down and getting a narrow spread. I like this extra layer of challenge, and the F-15E can swap to XSDB if you are looping around at a poor angle for the cluster bomb.
On the other hand UGB and UGBL can be thrown from up high or dropped on a fast-low pass and always cover the same area, so you can fly more freely and get to targets faster or avoid missiles better, which make it much more consistent to use, especially when you have teammates trying to kill your targets first.

What does cope say when rex is fucking kate?

So I'm something of an aspiring writer-director, and I was thinking about how I'd do an Ace Combat movie. The thing about Ace Combat that sets it apart in structure from all war stories is the central feature that is "the Ace of Aces", the player character. A faceless force of nature who has no real features or personality to them beyond that of the player's own, a player avatar. And their existence is often symbolic, like Rex symbolizes hope, Blaze symbolizes rebirth/redemption, things like that, very basic. These characters are elevated as superhuman, even god-like icons in ordwr to elevate the player by proxy, a power fantasy for us to live, which is all well good.

The challenge comes when trying to make the superhuman "Ace of Aces" into a proper, distinct character, and I'm not sure how you could do it satisfyingly, especially when they're the central character of a movie. Mihaly and Tewy so far are the closest attempts to do so and they're good characters in their own right, but they certainly don't have the mystique and gravitas that our avatars do, which is again a key stylistic element of Ace Combat. Because otherwise it'd just be Top Gun.

And then it clicked for me: AC4 and AC0 solved this issue, by NOT making the superhuman "Ace of Aces" the actual focus of the story, but rather a plot device to forward the true main character's arc. In AC0 that's obviously Pixy, he's the actual MC if you think about it, Cipher is hardly a character, and he not only forwards Larry's story, but also all the other downed aces in a neat documentary-style story. In AC4, the real main characters are the orphans and Yellow 13, and how the situation arounds them develops in response to Mobius' exploits. It's brilliant, really. You get to keep the element of supernatural mystery in the "Ace of Aces", and even get to properly explore them in a symbolist manner through their effect onto the principal characters.

You get to design the game's next superplane. How would it look, perform, and what would its lore and weapons be? Mine would be a cranked-delta aircraft powered by four variable-cycle engines, capable of reaching hypersonic speeds in-game while remaining a competent dogfighter thanks to thrust-vectoring engines, retractable canards, and leading-edge slats. Its cockpit would use an ENSI COFFIN configuration. Developed by GR, it would be an independent heavy interdiction aircraft designed to also deal with the increasing proliferation of drone swarms. Its nickname is Aurora. It would have a high-damage, slow-firing gun that uses airburst shells and functions similarly to a SASM, inflicting chip damage on near misses and heavy damage on direct hits. Its special weapons would be EML, MSTM, and LACM.

I think you structure an Ace Combat film more like Dambusters where you focus everything on the superweapon, and maybe the enemy ace.
Trying to make it span the full breadth of an Ace Combat protagonist's story arc is a bad idea. You basically have two hours, and that's enough for three battles if you're pushing it. Plus it's not going to be all battles, there's going to be a lot of people just talking.
So basically it'd be
>introduce protagonist
>superweapon surprise! show how dangerous the superweapon is! also enemy ace kills someone important
>talking "we gotta get the superweapon, here's how"
>initial plan fails, leading to second act low point
>protagonist finds hope after conversation with most innocent/youngest squad member
>change the plan, now it will succeed
>second try at superweapon, during the last possible chance
>during the battle, showdown with enemy ace, superweapon destroyed
>everyone celebrates, protagonist kisses love interest
>the end
>>
>>585571651
Well there has already been an AC film it was called Stealth and it was meh at best. Otherwise stick with the likes of Top Gun Maverick.
>>
>>585571570
I think PA doesn't quite realize the potential they have for implementing weirdo fuckass bullshit from the Cold War that never got a chance to be useful in our reality. They've already done things like airborne carriers and I'm pretty sire some lunatic proposed land battleships in a Popular Mechanics article at one point, but the niche of things that were seriously test and abandoned is kinda ignored. I'd like to see more seaplanes, more military hydrofoils, more WIG aircraft, more VTOLs besides Harriers.
>>
>>585570898
I think the best way to do them is to turn the legendary protagonist Aces into a mere concept, and not an actual character. 8 pretty much does this, as Wings are merely a symbol of hope that only exists to boost up morale, and not actually a unit able to turn the tides of war(at least before Ray showed up). Same with Garuda, I'm pretty sure he's never mentioned in the cutscenes outside of "that legendary ace that gives people something to believe in". And speaking of 6, you could easily make a movie with one of the Emmerian squadrons as the protagonists, with Garuda barely mentioned or showcased.

Yeah Strangereal feels a place where battleships armed with rocket assisted tallboys would have kicked off. It's an open buffet but PA just keep going for the bland options. Land battleships btw were proposed pre-WW1 in our universe and persisted all the way through to the interwar where they doubled as mobile aircraft carriers.

It's odd that they went out of their way to add all these buffed up fictional ground units, but they only show up in one mode in online and not the campaign.

EW + No Damage and Fighter + Gun Only. All my runs were on Ace, except for my Multirole run which I accidentally did while doing a meme run for my first playthrough on elite. I kept Joker squad in planes "appropriate" for whatever point I was in the story, using what planes I had unlocked by certain missions on my first run as an upper limit for what I could put them in, so no Morgans or Games flying around to shit on Soats kn Theve or something.

Carrier missions aren't a big deal, there's only four of them (Mission 3 in White Valley, 10's blimps, 11's Podarges, 12's Fort Grays, 26's fleet) and the A-6 handles them surprisingly fine. 2x MSL + 2X LASM knocks out a targetting blimp, Podarges can be cheesed by gunning their cockpits or their cargo racks, there's not a lot of fast movers at Fort Grays, and UGBs fuck up anything not in the air.

No Damage was a little painful even with the endgame part because EW planes have really shitty A2G weaponry which meant being exposed to AA/SAMs for longer while MSL/Gunning targets. Would be best to do it on its own so you can actually pick planes appropriate for the mission, not that the EA-36 does bad at A2A. Guns only isn't actually all that crazy with limited ammo, there's a bunch of Fuel Trucks and oil tanks around on Annihilation missions that it's not really a problem. Ladon kind of sucked though becaus I just kept Joker in F-18Es and the Ladons have damage resist against guns, but it's still doable. Ships also get damage resist against guns, even gunboats/missile boats will tank whole seconds of sustained fire, so it's best to have allies target them.

Funny enough the mission 28 Shadows gave me a harder time on Attacker only than Fighter + Gun only thank to attacker guns pointing down. Didn't have trouble getting gun kills for the rest of that campaign but with how twitchy Topkek and friends are I couldn't cope with my gun being wrong.

You're right, and I thought about that too, but Gubdam didn't come to mind admittedly. I think Pixy and Yellow 13 show how feasible it is to frame the story from the "villain's" POV, with our Ace of Aces as being some sort of insurmountable entity that forces them to reexamine themselves and their lives.

>>585572030
I agree, 8 is the first entry to lean into the player character being a symbolic existence, even doing the whole propaganda angle with it which I thought was great. You could adapt that concept and cut out the Ace of Aces entirely, having the squadron themselves being the propaganda piece, and their success (or lack thereof) wouldn't be in their battleflied exploite, but rather how effective they are in raising morale and possibly intimidating the enemy. As we saw in AC8 tho, that strategy promptly fails, and it took Ray's godlike skills to actualize the Wings of Theve as a source of hope.

For EW + No Damage be wary of Land Battleship 2, there's a lot of AA and targeting can end up picking many of the other targets before it selects a Heat Vent. If you run out of XSDBs you might have luck flying far away and mashing target switch until it picks what you want before closing back in to firing range. Rocky Island 2 can also be a bit tricky with all the AA guns and SAMs regularly spawning in.

For Multirole + Guns make liberal use of your unlocked planes and orders. My biggest struggles on that run was getting enough time on target or getting my time to kill down. F-4 struggles getting its guns pointed the right way while at speed so that'll make the Ladon tough if you choose it for that mission or don't give Joker plenty of missiles. Mission 21 might give you trouble depending on the difficulty because none of the targets give much score so you'll need to down a lot of them, and the higher the difficulty the higher the score requirement.

>Did you dumbfire the LASMs, or do LASMs now work on PW rules and can lock onto non-naval ships?
Dumbfire, got in pretty close so they wouldn't miss. Intruder has limited Arms slots but it'll carry enough LASMs to use against all the blimps if you don't bring any other SpW. It only gets A2G SpW, anyway.

I'm guessing the lack of MGP hurts too much to swap to EW+Guns and Multirole+NoDmg. Rafale could cheese No Damage easily in most missions thanks to LAAM and LACM, but that doesn't help you against the Ladons and Topkek.
>>
>>585577959
NTA but I've been trying to come up with a Ladon cheese strat. My idea is to catch them at the northrast corner of the map right as they enter, and I'd try to position right behind them with an Immelmann Turn and dump their ass with 6AAs, QAAMs, and guns. I haven't practiced it much, but the problem seems to be that they actually gain speed as soon as they cross the map border, which makes it really tricky to catch their tails in one maneuver.
>>
>>585573751
Know you were talking about a movie but Pixy as a character feels like someone that is almost a no brainer to return in a future AC game. Quite possibly as a player mentor character.

ACI had regular tournaments lasting a week or two where you'd get points every time you played. After the event ended they'd add up the points and give nicknames/emblems/special planes to the people who placed high enough. So it basically just came down to who played the most, except the fuel system meant you had to buy fuel to keep playing (or save up free fuel very slowly over like a year).
Some of the events had boring rewards or a lot of different planes so you could still get something good even if you didn't play much, but others had things like protag planes for only the top 200. When it was a popular plane then some whales seriously ended up spending thousands of dollars on fuel each. It was ridiculous.

She also noted that Tewy uses aerobatic maneuvers that should be outright impossible to apply in combat, she even tries to copy her moves in Mission 30. That's not mentioning her predicting Ray's own moves. Tewy's is Sotoa's equivalent of Mihaly, a Legendary Ace in her own right, and so is Tasha's mom. Sublimation is extremely rare so that seems unlikely. Yoko managed it once and then General Resource killed her and blew up her facility because they didn't like it. Ouroboros can do it but it'd be pretty weird if every character suddenly came back to join them. That's unlikely in the same way it's unlikely they'd bring back the human versions of previous characters to be enemies. They don't do that.
Also human Pixy and sublimated Pixy would think exactly the same way so they'd have no reason to fight. Not sure what Pixy would want out of life in 2040 but whatever it is both versions of him would agree on it.
>>

debatable. SOD Is good but it's more of a commitment than LACM. I feel like if a mission has enough ground target density to make SOD good you might as well take something with real bombs. And if it has a lot of spread out target pockets then LACM is obviously far better.
>>
>>585585008

>>
>>585584740
SASM hard counters Flares22, and can oneshot the bombers earlier in that mission.
HPAA is useful against tanky targets like the Ladon engines and again bombers.
SOD outright deletes Fatsia if you line up your shots correctly.
Felon is still a good NG+ workhorse with QAAM/HCAA and LACM, but the FA-36 really shines during the endgame.

>>585584678
Tewy's X40 has working shield drones and actual burst fire on the railgun. Enso are ripping off Rex in comparison, and it doesn't help that the FCU are such massive poorfags that their ace pilot can't get his hands on the same tech as a literal Osean convict.

>>585584740
If it's campaign then HPAA is useful for tough enemies and SOD counts as a bomb so it has much better parts than LACM even if it has worse base stats.
If it's online then it gets the standard missile buff ability and is slightly more responsive, even if it pitches/rolls/yaws more slowly once Su-57 gets going.
It also gets SASM instead of QAAM which you might like. Especially online since QAAM gets a damage nerf there compared to campaign (why?).
It also has slightly better stealth except I don't think anyone really cares about that.
>>
Why won't they bring Fenrir back? Imagine blowing up all of Fatsia in one shot with its nuke missile.
>>
>>585585435
Tbf she wasn't capable of going all out with the X-40 anyway. The neural interface already maxed out long before she could even start going at it seriously. It would probably have been far more practical just to forgo the railgun drone system entirely and slap on a mix of QAAMs/SASMs instead.

It's a good NG workhorse if you take this route through the aircraft tree.
My save got nuked and I had to replay the campaign with nothing unlocked but I already knew what I wanted so this was very efficient.
After you get the Felon you can go back and buy the Tomcat just to unlock the SPW payload part and the Foxhound to get SPW speed and bomb AoE parts. Then just go up and down the tree picking up the few parts you still want.

So in game she'll be shooting down Shadows in White Valley and Theev before you can which actually is quite annoying when trying to clear assault records, she also shot down the aces in Expo and Shadows at Cima which fucked up an ace run for me. When she is sent off on other assignments it is mentioned she is completing them much faster than Joker flight. When you are off facing the Podarges she is holding off Shadows with nothing but guns. The Topkek ambush btw was her flight getting swarmed where they basically had zero rest and refit so were flying aircraft that were already battered from the previous battle and low on ammunition with the AI being scripted to die, if you let them fight it out naturally it'll be very different.
>>
>>585586658
To be honest, I forgot that I had a Felon for a good chunk of my first playthrough, because I took a path similar to yours (except I bought the F-14D and F/A-18F). Being able to move between progression lines in 8's aircraft tree makes it a big improvement over 7's version.

It's also crazy because they patrol 1200 km away from the elevator. It magically beams power 750 miles to them.

Yeah, it is a big improvement and lets you pick up the parts and planes you want a bit more freely than having to super commit to a single branch.
But it still does have branches and makes you think about your unlocks in terms of which paths they open and not just what they do.
I went for this specific route because the Mirage with UGBs is an absolute menace in those earlier missions and you only really need the Rafale for M10(carrier mission) so it can be slightly delayed to pick up parts(the bomb payload+ part giving you 16 UGBs is absolutely insane and is the reason you buy the Fishbed).

Why would D.D. need to massively play up the Wings of Theve? Why wouldn't they just chuck Kate in their best fucking plane and sic her on Sotoa like a wild dog? For what reason? Lemme guess: sexism? Please. No. Kate is not an Ace, far from it, let alone a legendary ace. She's a maybe veteran pilot and that's it, and veterans don't even necessarily make Elite. She's just an old hand flight leader with good management skills who can keep her people alive for a while before they're beset actual squadron of Real Dawgsâ„¢. Queen Flight are Shadow fodder. If you're not there, heck if Joker Flight without you isn't there then the war would have been long lost. >>
>>585588560
I mean, of all the engineering challenges ranging from actually building a fucking space elevator to making magical force fields, delivering a lot of power wirelessly probably is the least problematic part of the setting.
>>
>>585588758
And you're assuming gameplay has bearing on story, do you think your plane ACTUALLY carries 140 missiles, 30 bombs, and an infinite mag of .30 cal bullets?
>>
>>585588498
They're even better this time though. Just comparing them to AC7, they got their damage/radius/reload all buffed.
>>

>>
>>585589178
Yes! They were! Read the reply chain.
>>
>>585589002
I mean, the operations we carry out, even assuming maximum accuracy and efficiency, probably require at least triple the payload IRL planes can carry to achieve the minimum mission objectives. Only a handful of missions in the AC series could actually be completed with a technically possible payload
>>
>>585589002
>infinite mag
>he played the game on lower difficulties
oh no anon...
>>
>>585589332
I just see it as a gameplay abstraction of multiple sorties. An IRL operation like the retaking of Theve would take far longer than the few minutes it got compressed into.

Yeah, most of the stories you get about INVINCIBLE TOUGH AMERICAN PLANES VS FLIMSY BUT NIMBLE JAPANESE ZERO are more about the American .50 cals being able to do shit and the Japanese 7.7mm being worthless.
The zero did also have 20mm cannons but it carried few rounds and it was hard to hit anything with it because it would unsettle the plane with the recoil.
That said playing WW2 sims or simcades, peppering the enemy with the worthless peashooter and then watching it burst into flames when you get close and unleash that 20mm feels amazing.

>I had full confidence in my ability to destroy the Grumman and decided to finish off the enemy fighter with only my 7.7 mm machine guns. I turned the 20mm cannon switch to the 'off' position, and closed in. For some strange reason, even after I had poured about five or six hundred rounds of ammunition directly into the Grumman, the airplane did not fall, but kept on flying! I thought this very odd—it had never happened before—and closed the distance between the two airplanes until I could almost reach out and touch the Grumman. To my surprise, the Grumman's rudder and tail were torn to shreds, looking like an old torn piece of rag. With his plane in such condition, no wonder the pilot was unable to continue fighting!
>>
>>585592276
>wonder how the British accomplished anything with 303s
By having 10 of them in each plane
>>
>>585593067
The American 4/6 x .50 cal setup was far superior and could actually do shit.
The German/Japanese 20mm cannons would absolutely rip things to shreds but they were a bit harder to use. And the Germans updated their MGs to 13mm(roughly .50 cal) later in the war because the 7.92mm was a peashooter that couldn't shoot down a seagull.
>>
>>585593067
Even four 50 cals on the Wildcat feel more lethal than twelve 30 cals on the Hurricane Mk II

>>585593951
It still fucking sucks though. And the Germans were also using worthless 7.92mm peashooters in the Battle of Britain.
So both sides were using worthless guns and the British had more of them so they won.
>>
>>585594132
So that answers your question about how the British accomplished anything with them, good job.
>>
>>585594132
>Why didn't both sides just have infinite resources and logistical capability to build an infinite amount of the most theoretically best possible aircraft. What do you mean there are considerations other than how big the gun I can put on the plane are?
>>
>>585594132
Cowling mounted guns are more valuable than wing mounted ones, and their targets were fighters that could still be set on fire by a good burst on their engines.
>>

>>
>>585594394
The later 13mm guns for the germans and .50 cals for the British required no serious redesign, just putting in a bigger gun.
The main reason they didn't do it earlier is that they were convinced the .303 was enough because they were still stuck in WW1 thinking(light craft turn fast and aircraft go down to a light breeze).
The US was already using 50 cals in the late 30s and they were nowhere near full total war production then.
Putting in bigger guns really wasn't a logistical issue.

Most of these extremist movements have intricate philosophical bases but undercooked plans, and AWWNB is even worse because it also attracted Belkan hardliners that just wanted revenge (and almost certainly received covert support from whatever remained of Belka's government and military), which would decrease ideological cohesion (and just turn it into a Belkan deniable proxy). The really ideologically-driven extremists at the top probably thought
>nuke the seats of power of the superpowers
>assume this will bring them to their knees, and buy us enough time and leverage to exploit the chaos
>also assume everyone will see the light of our ideology, and enforce it on everyone who won't relent
which is a weird mashup of things I've heard from both marxists and futurists.

Uhh, yeah, OK. Fair enough. EA-36 is arguably better but that's fictional and uses the American MG anyway. So yeah, the US has 1(one) truly top tier plane.
>>585598670
Eh, it's okay. What does it do better than the Rafale though? And you can unlock both at the same time. SOD is pretty good but LACM does the same job much easier and obviously LAAMs are way better than 6AAMs or QAAMs.
>>585598909
It's usable online but not as good as the Felon in the "close range fighter" slot. The FA-36 also does the same SASM spam job a lot better.
It's completely unremarkable in the campaign.
The F-15J has some use as a high tier fighter option that can also carry UGBs, which you might want for Rocky Island day 2. But the Felon with LACMs is also really good for that mission.
>>585599094
What do you mean? The Rafale is the ultimate multirole in the campaign and the Typhoon is the best LAAMboat online.
Also the Mirage is probably the strongest low-tier/early unlock plane because it has very good handling and UGBs.

Here's the DLC pitch:

As Rex and Kate are coming back from making rounds in Sotoa's airspace to make sure sleeping dogs (sheep?) lie, they're suddenly splashed by an unknown assailant that radar couldn't pick up. They were able to eject over Usean waters, right off of the coast of Rocky Island. Miraculously, they survived, floating on a piecr of scrap metal from their downed recon plane.

They look towards the distance, and see the horizon glowing red. The Turntable burns, and the island along with it. The stationed Usean forces were decimated, and what few stragglers there drag themselves onto lifeboats and set out in a frenzy. They find Kate and Rex over the waters by sheer chance. The stragglers contact the FCU navy, and are rescued by a vessel sent out from Fort Grays Base, esocrted by a small fleet along with The Endurance.

XO fills us in on the situation: it's 0205. multiple hostile operations were carried over the maritime Usean-Sotoan border within the past 6 hours under the cover of night. A small force of advanced sstealth bomber squadrons are suspected to be the culprit. Analyzing the time, location, and sequence of attacks, King Flight is to sortie immediately and intercept the bandits en-route to their next expected target: Expo City.

Somewhere, within the quiet dark of the night sky, a lone shadow hums, its cold tune lulling its passenger into a deep trance: "Neural Link established."

Yes, it's loadouts and abilities but US craft don't even have better stats. The Felon has better stats than the Raptor in SP and literally identical stats in MP(but with better abilities).
Also when you take abilities into account the F-15C doesn't even outstat the Typhoon, it's slightly better at low speed and slightly worse at high speed and has a huge, massive, unrecoverable 4kph top speed advantage but at the cost of worse acceleration.
So which US craft are outstatting their Euro/Russian tier equivalents?

- Instead of unlocking SPWs in the tree you unlock the variants (no more buying 20 F18 and 30 flankers)

Also how exactly are you going to stop them from just killing your attacker on respawn and securing a massive points lead?

Oh you'll go somewhere else and do what? Farm air targets for pity points until they run out? Watch their attacker be completely undisturbed and rack up 180k points because you cannot ever approach the Morgan's 6km sphere of death?

>do you actually get good tls players all the time
Yes, the weapon is busted as fuck and anyone who doesn't care about playing by made up honor rules or having fun with the entire rest of the aircraft roster will use it.
The laser itself barely emits light and makes no noise when it's firing or when it hits you, so you'll explode quick to what seems like nothing since it has high tick damage.
The way to dodge the TLS is to be right up next to it or more than 6km away, but the morgan has enough speed to intercept most aircraft and if you're ever on the defensive to someone else you're an easy target
It also has high maneuverability and PSMs so it's not like you can fly erratically to get away unless you're close up, and morgans will just hover at the edge of their range and shine their laser pointer in a vague direction anyway to kill you
Premades are learning spawn positions too so you quite literally just spawn and die since there's no grace period

the balance is still better than the EML, i guess

At this point I can only conclude that the people who are vehemently denying that the game has no form of hidden MMR are just not winning enough games to get into these lobbies. Which might be for the best, it's probably more fun to dump on nuggets in an F4 than it is to constantly fight double Morgan comps in a Typhoon or Fullback.
You'll know you're in them once matches start taking ages to find and you're only ever getting difficulty 3 with super stacked lobbies.

>ZOLL memory
Maybe? But I started getting high level lobbies on like week 2 while I was still strapped for ZOLL.
Game could also use some random fucked up algo that looks at average points scored or some shit because I'm not convinced it's about winrate.
It also seems split across modes, people who have played a lot of Assault get into such a small player pool that they often get 4 man matches(which are honestly a lot more fun than 8 man).
And before the shitposters jump in I'm not blaming SBMM or saying it's bad. The game should have some form of skill-based matching so that experienced players in top tier planes aren't just seal clubbing nuggets all day. I'm not making the COD argument of "REEE THE GAME SHOULD JUST LET ME WIN EVERY GAME WITH NO EFFORT USING MY QUIRKY OFF META BUILDS, WHY ARE MY OPPONENTS NOT SEVERELY BRAINDAMAGED EVERY MATCH?".

ACAH is a bad game. Not a bad Ace Combat, not just substandard, it is an outright bad game.
2 entire levels are just terrible heli gunner shit. One level is just a bad ripoff of CoD 4's AC-130 level. DFM is a bad idea that was badly implemented and the entire game revolves around it.

Mostly subjective complaints. DFM is pretty much the thing dragging down the actual game. You get rid of it and AH is mediocre to decent instead of bad

Yes, DFM being a bad idea that was badly implemented is what took the game from ~meh~ to oturight bad.
>>585615269
I do too. But it's only used for small cinematic moments after you've already won using regular game mechanics. You're not forced to engage with it for minutes on end and it's not really a game mechanics, just a mini cutscene(which is cool and cinematic).
>>585615773
More like it spent most of its service life being outfitted for ground attack so it's no wonder it has a terrible kill ratio, even by Soviet rustbucket standards.
>>
>>585615248
I actually kinda like the 2 levels where you pilot a helicopter but I don't see how anyone could defend the heli door gunner levels. The controls are weird and floaty and even if you accept random FPS levels in your arcade flight shooter they're not even good FPS levels.

Because they used it sparingly and for a handful of key dramatic cinematic purposes only. It wasn't this mandatory thing you had to use to remove the plot armor from random "TGT_LEAD's" following scripted movement patterns.
>>
>>585616763
There's a reason they nerfed this shit starting in 7
>>
>>585616864
And it's not even really DFM because it doesn't auto-control your plane. It just uses slow-mo and the DFM cam for cinematic effect.
>>
>>585616864
The first time it was used in 8 was just confusing. I don't even remember who it was that I was shooting. It was just shouting at me to save another pilot, which I was already doing until the sudden perspective change.

The second(?) time I remember it is when Toprak is behind Kate in the mission where queen flight gets decimated and it cuts into DFM to give Toprak invulnerability when I was already shooting him. I suppose it's cool that we get to see his kulbit first hand and a good way to make him survive that encounter.

I can't even remember if Moon 11 gets one or not, and even if she does, it's inconsequential since we get a cutscene anyway. Might as well have made the whole thing a cutscene.

LAAMboat, also gets QAAMs later on. Probably the most versatile fighter in the game.

>>
>>585617584
Frogfoot remains the king for Chandelier so it's not a terrible invesment.
Mirage-2000 is very good for such an early unlock but it has mid-tier upgrade costs and eventually falls off.
You can still use it as a sort of fighter though.
The UGBs can help in warfare as long as you make sure you're not losing points for the team(meaning never take the same area as your attacker and only start hitting the ground after farming up to 3 stars on air targets).
>>
>>585618613
Mig-21 is also the best ArseBirb killer, if you care about being able to S rank it solo.
MGPs + all the upgrades you'd want for them(fighter anti air modification, MGP upgrade, gun upgrade). F-4E is also good but it doesn't get the GUN upgrade(only the MGP one) or the Fighter anti air mod.

No, there's plenty of other ways to prove that.
Also you can't "rush" to a high tier plane, they're gated behind pilot level and pilot level is ONLY based on sortie count. There is no way to speed it up or slow it down.

well with them setting up for the events of 3, what are the chances of them making dlc to try and bridge the timeline between 8 and 3?

maybe even tease the idea of remaking 3 for modern audiences?

I'm not saying it's an inherently good idea, and they still have opportunities to play around with different stories and ideas before possibly rebooting or remaking entries, but 3 never got a proper localization in the US and there's a lot going on in that story that can be considered relevant now, so I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that.

>Can you test the SFFS bomblets max distribution? It can get pretty wide if you aim from high up, at least in my experience.
Distribution will go up at least slightly for seemingly forever, but past 2500m it doesn't change appreciably much with altitude. Above 2800-2900m you have effectively zero blast overlap. Terrain height will also affect spread distance, but that shouldn't be a oroblem on most maps. While the spread's nice you're not doing sny damage to things outside the smaller circles so keep that in mind.
