I've been replaying the Arator quests on an alt and he's so much worse than I remember (and I already hated him). His dad goes to strike the troll who goes on to summon an Old God (directly causing Liadrin's death) but he jumps in the way and isn't even really hurt, but he spends the rest of the expansion moping about the time his dad hit him and how the light compels people to do evil things like that. He then goes to the Plague lands where he is attacked by the Scourge, and he bemoans that if he spent much time there he'd become filled with anger and wrath like his father. Then he goes to Scarlet Monastery where he gleefully and righteously slaughters the survivors of Lordaeron for daring to call on the light. He returns to Light's Hope where he learns that the most powerful paladin relics aren't weapons but refugee prayer books, and distributes these to the defenders of the Sunwell.

Arator has essentially the same arc as in his story campaign, where he learns that the light can't be trusted and constantly chides people for perfectly reasonable things. Eg, Thalyssra is chided by Arator for initially declining to allow the Black Harvest into Suramar, and Lord Grayson Shadowbreaker is brutally and publicly shamed during a Paladin ordination ceremony for considering his sister dead (she is Forsaken). He mentally reacts to every line of the ceremony with sarcasm and anti-light sentiment.

Thankfully, our hero Arator escapes on his own and explodes the bad guy's Soul Engine (using light magic mind you, not that he expresses any gratitude) killing the demon, but then he demands that his parents confront their issues on the spot (right there in Felsoul Hold surrounded by tortured Nightborne captives and fleeing demons) in a lengthy dialog following which they decide that getting married is a bad idea. Arator is literally solely responsible for splitting his parents up.
