Hi all,

Wanted to inquire about how you all, as people using 4chan, view yourselves in terms of how you imagine other people might judge you for browsing and/or posting on this site. I find myself unwilling to let myself be seen using this site, as I hold the belief that I would thus be branded a weirdo or worse. Now, is this the common sentiment? I get many wouldn’t even recognize it from the screen on my phone, but nonetheless, what do you think the average person’s perception of 4chan is? As insiders, we have our own perception, but I’m curious about what other insiders perceive/infer of an outsider’s impression.

I know for a fact one of my family members browses this site. He's a pretty normal guy. He browses /v/. Really don't care if my posts are connected to me, because I refuse to allow myself to be enslaved into caring about what others perceptions of me are.

I actually have a very in depth system which can be used to digitally sign all of my messages. It's mostly setup at this point. It's been aroundf for a real long time. It'S called PGP and a web of trust.

As generic as this advice may seem...
Just be your most authentic self.
If someone is willing to judge you with no
context regarding how you even use the site,
that's not someone worth being friends with.

My friends know that I browse 4chinz, but they don't really care. Family members also don't seem to question me reading some blue website all the time, but one time a friend of my sibling was in our house, noticed me browsing 4channel and asked if it's [local altchan]. I said no.

Where my usage of 4chlong really matters is when I discuss My Little Pony. I've seen people on several occations finding it necessary to "condemn" fandom's origin, as if it was necessary.
Sometimes I powerlevel with them for cheap reactions

It's a bell curve. Many idiots and absolute degenerates browse this site. Normies will smugly project on you after watching some video essay about this place. Misunderstood geniuses use this site because it's the only place they can comfortably express themselves and find like minded individuals. High status individuals are also known to use this site because they're often constrained from expressing their authentic self.
