I think it is very fascinating that the Binding Coil of Bahamut raids are designed to be explorative rather than just a heightened trial. I am truly fascinated by the layout and I would go as far as to say that I am reminded of the Destiny 1 raids.
Even when it comes to the arenas of the bosses, it is not purely rectangular or circular. It has different varying amounts of height and width across the field.
I appreciate that for Turn 2, it gives you multiple routes to take and experiment with. I imagine this would be interesting to discuss with your raid party when this was released. It allowed for more creativity and imagination rather than just thinking about the tells of a boss.
In turn 3, there is a maze like puzzle where you have to figure out which launch pads and which direction are able to send you to the coffer.
One of my biggest disappointments in Shadowbringers as an expansion was the streamlining of MP across all classes and jobs. I felt as if it gave more character when different jobs had different maximum amounts of MP. It also gave players an option to specialize into raising their maximum MP higher. I really enjoy the RPG elements of this game and wish it was taken more into account. I feel as if they were to take a turn for an RPG focused gameplay, it would isolate a lot of the playerbase who do not have the patient to attempt and master stat allocation.
i like the guys that patrol around i wish they brought back designs like this again for content, but everything is just a simple straight line now so people can just speedrun content :(
Turn 3 seems quite special. It plays the most like a dungeon out of anything in this game. There is a way to navigate this encounter with encountering the least amount of mobs as possible. With many different routes to understand, many patrols lingering about, and confusing pathways to overcome. I guess it breaks my heart to see how content Square has gotten with designing content. It feels lacking. It feels copy and paste with the same stack, spread, debuff mechanics we received. There is a level of interaction missing and that causes me to be less immersed in the encounter.
Turn 4 was lacking in the sense that it was less creatively inspired due to it just being an elevator ride. Although, I do enjoy the nods to Final Fantasy XIII, kind of a forgotten entry outside of shitty game AMVs.
this shit cool as hellprobably can never come back to these little areas again and that sucks
Now this is news to me after completing Turn 5. I do not have much to comment on Turn 5 since it closely resembles how raids are today compared to the other encounters. It's the entry into the Morbol journey, it's the entry into the UCoB journey. The fact that Twintania was used this often for content shows how timeless it is, albeit the randomness of it all. I actually would much prefer content to have more randomness rather than mechanics being a 50/50 or a 33/33/33 or even a 25/25/25/25. It feels formulaic and quite draining to do. A lot of the higher end content tends to be just a choreographed dance or note sheet. Each class having a different dance to follow and each instrument just doing their part. With randomness added in, it would probably incentivize every person to learn how the mechanic works rather than just the tank/healer/dps learning what they do. It's a sense of awareness that you develop and it's kind of a lost art. Well plugins kind of killed raiding.
Now this was a revelation, to see Louisoix. For a player that joined during STB in February 2019, I never truly cared about the story of 1.0 because it was alien to me. In fact, I did not care about the story of 2.0, because it did not really involve me. Of course now, the meme of Louisoix being engulfed by light is popular, I was kind of interested in figuring out who he is and what he turned out to be. Not to mention the mystery of Odin looking like him, which was to signify that Louisoix at one point defeated Odin. Creating this air of mystery behind this man's legend and wanting to learn of him. It is a shame these raids are not queued for due to their difficulty. I feel as if they are really special.

And he's a /dbs/ poster, fantastic.
I have never seen stretched out shadows in this game before.
Woman reveal... I have always loved this trope in media where a man is revealed to have lady bits. It genuinely gets me every time.
The second coil was less explorative than the first coil and I think that is due to the team having less time to work on the layouts of each map. Although, it is interesting to note that this is the raid tier that introduced the "Savage" variants of the encounters. The fights were genuinely so overtuned for the playtesters that they had to actively nerf Nael (which is arguably considered one of the hardest fights in the game of all time) to about 50/60 percent.Although while the gameplay was on the decline, the story and mystery of the coils are very intriguing. In fact... it makes me realize what is missing from Dawntrail's introduction. That being mystery. The most I have felt is when Zoraal Ja revived himself, it was a good twist, but since before and after that point, everything was told to you. You were not experiencing learning something new, you were just told about it. Mystery overall is very important for a story to continue, without questions, there is no search for answers.
its kind of fucked the fates of these guys, nael tried using bahamut - louisoix tried to seal away bahamut - and they both paid by essentially being sealed away with bahamut, and becoming his thrall.. all the while everyone up above just pretty much thought them dead
>>1821371>>1821377Oh this bitch is infertile.
This is also cute.
I have found this interaction quite interesting due to the twins actually having conflict with one another. Alisae and Alphinaud nearly feel like the same character in Shadowbringers and Endwalker when compared to one another. We have to keep in mind as well, that Alphinaud has already matured much more than Alisae has through the ARR MSQ. Which brings me to wonder...Why didn't they make the Bahamut raids part of the Post MSQ for ARR? It's lore relevant and introduces Alisae more in-depth than any other piece of content available.
bahamut raids were really good ... why couldnt this also be mandatory like the crystal tower raids ... anyway it was nice to get a different side of urianger and alisaie in these quests. fun to see the interactions with the twins, alphinaud challenging alisaie's beliefs like that... and the peak of it all with the cutscene with louisoix. I rushed through this stuff back in stormblood with an FC so i skipped through the cutscenes. I never expected to get like 3 voiced cutscenes, and especially the pre-rendered one with louisoix defeating bahamut! All of this under our nose... Nael was cool, too, like all theatrical before emet or fandaniel made it 'cool' lol The layouts of a lot of these areas were fun, I understand why they dumbed down raids to just a boss fight now, but it'd be nice to see a return to something like the bahamut raids again. it was the first raid series though, so it was all just seeing what stuck - since there's some of this in alexander with encounters that aren't just boss fights.Great story, lovely :)
What a fantastic raid series in terms of story and interesting encounters. I wish I was able to experience this with the level 50 skills back in 2014. I would have fallen in love with it forever and ever. Hearing Louisoix, hearing Nael, but I did kind of dislike how mindless Bahamut seemed to be? Every Raid series end boss had some sense of sentience but for Bahamut, he's silent. His father speaks, his brothers and sisters speak, but he is silent. Much better than Eden. I was blinded by shonenslop brainrot.
>>1821515I could be misremembering, but isn't that bahumut a primal that dragons summoned into existence to fight the allagans after the real bahamut died? That might partially explain why it doesn't have much of a personality.
>>1821517yeah ur right , there's even a cutscene where you find a bunch of dragons caged inside of the dalamud remnants, used to siphon power to the bahamut thats reforming
Off to a good start DBabe
>>1821515Square should make more pre-rendered cutscenes but they are just going to tell us they have a low budget and buy more MogStation modernslop
Is anything worth reading from FFXIV?
>>1823614Only if you have the patience to immerse yourself with the characters provided in the story. I did it to understand the world better so I can develop stories easier within the realm. But… read the story to solve mysteries of the world. There is a lot to find and love.

You get this dialogue when you unlock the extremes for the Warring Triad. Kind of funny. SCP like even.
Well I am glad I have good life insurance in the Allagan empire.
Warring triad was good , some interesting lore drops - I know the 13th was mentioned in passing at some points in the MSQ iirc to this point, but still odd that it's so casually mentioned, the state of Unukalhai's home... Regula was probably the best character in this. Krile was really obnoxious , but her character isnt very interesting to begin with. Nothing else of much note for me... the trials were fun ! Good music :)
>>1832160i kind of hope more will be done with unukalhai's character in the future... Will he join Zero in restoring the 13th with the elezen lady? I forgot her name , cyelle or something like that - but i doubt it and he will be delegated to just side content forever... or probably forever forgotten back on the First in that quest they added with the role quest npcs
its nice to follow you again
>>1832355I am glad it brings you some sort of comfort. I often feel disconnected from humanity, well, my humanity to be specific. Everything feels like a routine, or like something has been done before. Like visiting an art gallery that has not been updated in half a decade or so. You just end up feeling not motivated to go. There's a piece of me that is nostalgic for what I was and used to be, but there's a whole of me that wants to be free. I don't want to feel stuck anymore. I don't want to pretend like I should care about certain things either. I kind of wish that everyone I ever met and who was ever close to me would forget me. It would feel like the ultimate ego death.I will make my own space.

Doing the Alexander raid storyline quest in full now and I must say.Why is there no hype or push for Mide?So far with just the first encounter completed, she seems likeable in both character and a physical sense. A unique scar, a unique tint to her horns and even a unique scale pattern. She seems like she would fit the alternate girl fad that is on and off throughout the years. I am surprised I heard nothing of her in the past half decade or so.
Alexander is alright so far, doing it and paying attention to the story for real this time...Everything just feels convenient I suppose, Mide is around just as Alexander pops up. She conveniently knows how to help get in and turn off the core. Drip feeding us bits and pieces so it kind of kills the twist that, even though I'm not there, I vaguely remember the jist of it ... That her tribe she was in, they tried summoning Alexander and failed and she was the sole survivor. So she's got memories of it all, and also conveniently Roundrox having a piece of the codex in her junk. Other than the story, robots are cool. The maps are all cool! Enjoy the music a lot. Fights are a little lacking, but that's because everything that's not current is basically a cakewalk.
> Cry baby convict demon
My DeeBa you came to my church in 1967???
>>1841305I was married there to my random Miqo'te wife.
I now understand the reference
cant lie I'm starting to lose interest in the story. cool giant robots can't save it - probably because they arent even really involved story-wise. Everything is just so conveniently placed or happens conveniently, for us or the baddies. The fights are getting more fun, love all the robots, the transformers reference was cool as fuck :) I dont give a fuck about mide or her stupid quest to be with her man again... get over it girl... Also can I stop just hearing about how Cid and Y'shtola are talking with Matoya? Can I see it? Hear what she has to say? In fact, why ISN'T Cid more involved with the actual robot stuff, he's the head engineer?!
> Hands so clean
Well, overall Alexander story was OK. Everything was a bit too convenient, but it's just because of the nature of the story and dealing with time shenanigans... The only bit that really was like "aah" for me was the fact that the book Quickthoughts was using ended up being the book Backrix was writing.Didn't give a shit about Mide, Roundrox was good and cute :)Fights were fun! Music good, locations within Alexander were cool. Love my giant robots.Definitely a step down from Bahamut, but what can you do.

The more I interact with people, the more I can just tell that they use AI for degenerate porn shit. Well, I guess with FFXIV it's just easier to tell. I am surprised that there isn't like an AI FFXIV girlfriend mod that follows you around and talks to you. >>1892295You can try being adopted by an FC and learn their customs for one.You can host a party finder in whatever piece of content you like describing what you're looking for.You can give compliments to people on their characters and outfits and see how that goes.

Good on you giving it another try time after time.>I host plenty but nobody ever wants to be friends everyone just leaves.Have you tried being a bit blunter in what you're looking for? Saying you want to have a friend to routinely play the game with? >I do this all the time the most I get back is a thank youTry asking about their interests. Then try to extrapolate on whatever their interested in. Then at the end if it goes anywhere say something along the lines of,"I hope we can talk again sometime; I had a good chat'. You kind of have to make people see that you're an option to choose when first meeting. They all feel like they are bothering someone at first and can't shake that feeling off at first.
>>1893099Thanks for the tips i'll try it out next time I see a cute character out.
>>1893107An easy way to do is go up to people with mare and that you want to exchange codes. I've gotten tells out of nowhere because I've done this as a joke prior.
>>1893091Party finder's just for doing content not making friends. There is an xiv general on /vg/ where people do hold events and meetups in game, you can try visiting those. One thing I did notice, though, is lot of people you meet and make friends with in this game don't last very long, for a variety of reasons.
How do people edate in XIV without knowing how they look irl? It baffles me, I imagine physical attraction is very important if you want to take it to the next level.
>>1897167Most people share images of what they look like if you get to that level. The ones who don't are often transgender or AGPs.
>>1893139Honestly, I'm about one step away from downloading xivlauncher and mare just so I can interact with people in this game again. It's like ever since it's slow rise to popularity no one bothers to talk to you unless you have mare.
>It's like ever since it's slow rise to popularity no one bothers to talk to you unless you have mare. This might come off as a bit confusing, but this is just the internet in general. Everyone is now impatient, unable to wait to see something grow and develop. No longer the days of slowly getting to know someone through trickle conversations throughout the seasons. Now it is to wear your entire personality and gimmick on a sleeve. Here's my Discord, my Instagram, my BlueSky, my code. Let me see what you like, how you live, where you want to be without me having to dig deeper for it.Mare is just that instant gratification for people. They express themselves to be such and such through whatever fucked and lazy modifications they have set on. I have often gotten complaints that I do not use modifications on the models of my characters when I do pair with people. They often feel self-conscious and judged from it. I feel like at this point, the best course of action is to make a cult like community that just wants to banish mare and Discord all together. A little colony away from all the noise and mess. In before that blows up because someone gets exposed for something they shouldn't be doing or a woman cheats on her boyfriend with someone from within. Meh.
