How come there isn't a thread for one of the best racing games of all time? Both versions can be played online too!>Crash Team Racing (1999)1) Get a Playstation BIOS file (Preferably SCPH-7501) and an original US CTR dump image from somewhere2) Download Launcher from https://www.online-ctr.com/ and follow instructions3) Configure your controls (or click automatic mapping when it prompts you)4) Pick a server and room (or make a private one using your IP)5) Share the info and wait for anons to joinAs simple as that!>Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (NO CROSSPLAY)1) Go to online 2) Wait while it loads3) Matchmaking mode should probably connect anons together considering the online is not very active anymore, but if that doesn't work, players will need to add each other as friends in their platform of choice in order to make a Private Lobby4) Wait a lot while it loads5!) VERY IMPORTANT, since the game loads slightly better in newer consoles (PS5, Switch 2, Xbox X) it's inadvisable to skip the intro cutscene as it'll desync with other players and softlock the race lolHopefully we can get some games going soon!
I used to play a lot of CTRNF on the Switch when it came out, I'd be down to play it some more if anons have it too. I'm way more used to it than classic CTR but I already have it installed so I'm down to play as well
Looked into the archives for some Grand Prix-era webms, what times. I really hope this gets a PC Port.
I'd give it a try if some people played the PS1 version regularly. I like the idea of cart racers but I don't play any and it would be fun as long as /some/ other players were also novices like myself.
>>1848242I'm no expert by any means, at least not in the original CTR, I played it as a kid so I know a fair share of tricks but most of my arcane knowledge about it got replaced by Nitro Fueled's mechanics.Hopefully we can get some more (You)s here to organize a play group soon.
For lazy anons, here's a link to the BIOS and the CTR file for download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vbAs2itnOWirBSMufclOlfvWf_yAhaMr/
>>1850843Thanks, I didn't add it to the OP because it was too big a file for catbox.
Anybody up for CTR NF on Switch?
>>1846775bro you were attempting to U-Turn on 0:17? Press the down button.
>>1846438I'm still mad they never brought Nitro Fueled to PC. I want to play with Megumi again...
>>1846438How many people are playing CTR1 online, is it a lot? Is there enough people to find games where you don't have to mess around on a discord, because I'm not fucking bothering with discord matchmaking bullshit anymore.
>>1856416It's died down a bit, most of the servers I've seen at are 0/8 but if you join one you start getting people as you play more races, makes me wonder if they have some sort of notification for when a player is on because it always happens after I finish a race alone.
Tried to get NF working on Ryujinx and it had unbelievable lag, texture issues, and audio issues. What am I doing wrong?
Glad to see a thread for this up. I honestly keep forgetting /vm/ is a thing. Karters 2 news hitting today and seeing threads about it led me to checking here.I worked as part of the Custom Team Racing crew for CTR [PS1] but I've stepped back to take time for myself and try other things. I'm currently playing around with original character designs whilst trying to keep it in line with the theming and designs of Crash. If you've got questions; feel free.
>>1858895What's the deal with animations and why is it impossible to add/extract them for now ?
>>1859839Decompilation of such functions still has a ways to go from what I can tell. On a side-note; a team member just finished and put out a release for all characters' official renders replacing all 16 characters (Oxide included).
It's crazy how such a good game got so little support.
Gonna be on the Matchmaking waiting lobby in CTRNF for Switch, I wonder if anybody from here that joins will find me.
>>1863308Actually surprised I found some people that still play here, most of them were clearly newbies but I'm happy to see online is still –albeit lowly– populated
>>1863376If only it took like 10 minutes to load every time you start and end a race + people quitting/disconnecting during it and fucking up the lobby. We need a SKG-tier petition asking these fuckers to release a good PC port.
>>1858126I recall it working great on Yuzu.
>>1846438How sweaty is ctr online?
>>1868006Quite so. CTR is a skill-based game and if you have to go out your way to download all the stuff to be able to play it online, it means you have a fair interest in the game, enough to know all the advanced mechanics.
Anybody here tried The Karters 2? How does it feel compared to CTR?
>>1873101I played a beta/test version a few years back, the game was feeling okay all around, but when you got above a certain speed, it felt like driving on ice. The boost after a fall also felt like your kart weighted nothing, whereas CTR feels good when you slam back on the track. It's probably good for a few hours, but I would put it below both CTR games.
>>1873101Bought it a couple hours ago, I'm really liking it. It's pretty fast and the controls are tight, feels good to drive and boost.
>>1875911Is that a worm from Worms? Nice.
>>1875911>Buy this>Install a shitton of mods>Now the game takes forever to load whenever I open itIt feels just like CTR bros!
>>1875911I remember playing this

>>1910264Retro mode was cool as hell
>>1912002What's Retro mode? Isn't CTR Retro enough? lol
>>1914328Retro mode makes all turbopads be Ultimate Sacred Fire (the highest turbo tier in the game), also it modifies U-turning so it doesn't eat your reserves if you do it on the ground. Why is it called Retro Mode? That part I have no idea.
>>1846438Can i play Crash Bash or other ps1 tittles multi or it's just CTR?
>>1915111Only CTR
>>1915111You mean using this build? Its a patch and only built to use servers to host CTR, if you wanted to play Bash or something else I guess it could be done via netplay but the connection would probably not be the best, feel welcome to try it with other anons if they also show interest.
>>1858895Do you model in Blender? How hard is it working within the constraints of PS1 graphics or it being a mod/PC emulated let you ignore some of the limitations like it being low poly and stuff?
>>1920667PS1 graphics operates with tris and quads. No ngons allowed. Keep things as optimized as you can whilst maintaining quality.Environments can currently be textured - characters and their karts can not.No rigs or animations at this time, so everything that's currently custom-made is static.
>>1920685>characters and their karts can notThat's a shame, why though? Do you have any pictures of custom stuff you and the rest of the team has done?
>>1920708>That's a shame, why though? I think we don't currently have access to the parts of memory that store textures for characters - or that if we do; we're currently unable to edit them due to where and how they're stored. I'm not technical-minded so I'm not the best person to ask on that.>Do you have any pictures of custom stuff you and the rest of the team has done?https://ctrcustomtracks.com/https://customteamracing.com/
>>1920721>https://customteamracing.com/Kek, that's awesome. These should work in the online build right? Client-side, of course.

>>1846438I don't understand why Activision won't port CTR to PC. They are deliberately choosing not to earn money.
Anybody want to play Karters tonight?
>>1930024Why is it 30 dollars?
>>1931924Huh, it costed me 12.
>>1932010Must have upped the price when they released v1.0Honestly the game has enough content for 30 to be a fair price but I would still wait for a sale before getting it.
>>1856124U turning would have killed his reserves.
>>1937796
>>1937796is this from /v/ lobbies? Looks more populated than the threads seem to show.
Karters anyone?>>1938164I think I recognize some people from the threads but there wasn't any threads as of late that I know of.
