Prestige on CatsEye is the greatest thing that ever happened to XI. I absolutely love this shit. I've been addicted to XI like I'm 14 again since that shit dropped, doing nothing but waking up thinking about XI grinding EXP all day, and going to bed exhausted but still thinking leveling in XI again tomorrow. The biggest problem we have in this community is the lack of social and communication skills. People grew up with this game from early 2000s to 2010s, never went outside or socialized to have irl friends during their teenage years. When was the last time you were alone with a woman and felt completely relaxed and normal? If a university did a case study of this community I think there would be some interesting findings.

joking aside, I was actually brainstorming the idea of making a new FFXI server. It seems to me like the majority of problems and limitations come because everyone is trying to reverse engineer POL/FFXI and all its ancient-ness. Would it not be better to just make an entirely new game using a modern engine that just APPEARS in every way to be FFXI on the surface, but without the need for rebase and all this shit existing servers are struggling with? Then we really could have nice things like VR integration, integration for streamers, entirely new zones, etc.

All the initial poopsockers have moved on/are taking a break for ToAU (lol), so most people playing currently are pretty laid back, even at endgame.Both PhoenixXI and ZenithXI said they aren't launching until 2026, and that could mean a full year from now depending on their development speed. Plus even if a new server comes out you want to play on after starting on HorizonXI, you'll still have that character if you want to go back to it in the future.
