Despite the last thread getting archived unexpectedly, Frens of Akalabeth hasn't gone anywhere. I didn't put a new thread up right away because I was working on the EQ server and wanted to do a combined thread. It's UO remade to be played as a single-player or small group sandbox adventure. This server has been running in one form or another for almost 2 years, although we wiped in March for the switch to Memento as its base. The way I've always described it is a shared single-player experience. My notable changes:>Boss HP scaling based on number of players and non-summoned followers engaging them.>Neutral and evil monster races must maintain 2.5k and 5k fame/karma respectively to enter most towns.>Unlike other trade skills, Alchemy does count toward the skill cap.>Trade skills that gave a direct combat bonus no longer give that bonus.>Tracking now gives a percentage weapon and spell damage bonus against the tracked mob equal to 25% of your Tracking skill.>Town Guards don't instagib and are killable, but they're still really tough.>Trail Maps reworked to a non-magic recall system.>Lower Reagent Cost capped at 80%.>Player corpse bones persist for a year, so other players who come through a dungeon will know you died there months ago.

I’m trying to get on to SoloQuest and am having trouble. I downloaded the rof2 client from the steam depot and then I downloaded the exe for the expansion switcher. When I run the expansion switcher it has an install window with a bar that fills up to 100% and then does nothing. I’m not sure what this program is supposed to do or if that’s it. I would think at some point I would have to pick an expansion. After that I try to run eqgame.exe but it bring up and error window that just says “run EverQuest.exe” but that exe doesn’t exist. What am I doing wrong?

I tried to zone into misty thicket from runnyeye and the game crashed and gave me an error saying the misty zone files were not found. Now when I try to log in (on any character in any zone) it has the black you have been disconnected screen and crashes immediately. Any idea whats wrong?

The server db points to using the classic misty thicket zone, however the files included in the rof2 client are the revamped files, and the classic files are NOT included in the expansion switcher. The revamped zone files are mistythicket_xxx while the classic zone files are misty_xxx. I was able to get into misty thicket by copying all of the misty_xxx files from my p99 folder and deleting all of the mistythicket_xxx files in my SoloQuest folder.I believe that highpass has the opposite problem where the db is pointing to the revamped files highpasshold_xxx however those files are different from the classic highpass_xxx files that are in the SoloQuest folder which are patched with the expansion switcher. This is more of a guess though since I can't test it directly.
nta with the runnyeye problem but i tried zoning into west commonlands from east commonlands and got a missing zone file "commons" crash-to-desktop. I copied over two different types of files named "commons" from my thj directory to soloquest, and everything worked no problem.
Everyone having zone issues EXCEPT in Highpass is due to not using the Expansion Switcher or needing to re-run it. The OOW patch from the switcher works just fine for Misty on my machine. Highpass is apparently a known issue that I wasn't aware of and I have to do some stuff to get the old version working.

The Lavastorm zone line to Temple of SolRo is no longer an invisible door you have to click. Just walk over as usual. Also changed the time between Spire ports to the Nexus from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
do all races and classes gain xp at the same rate? it feels different but it might just be my imagination, i know it was a thing in the past but not sure how far it got carried forward (for soloquest)

I mean THJ is the most popular emu server ever and even with 3k people on it may as well be 3k single player servers with a shared chat and Bazaar since everyone is in their own instance. Is it feasible to tank all the raid bosses through oow with the necro pet? I'm not far but it seems like picking a dps class as your class would be not ideal since you can only have 1 bot so you won't have either a tank or a healer unless you pick one as your character.

Any chance you could allow bards to swarm? Looks like its currently using the rule where moving mobs don't take damage from bard songs. Not sure what the best way to level a bard solo to the mid 20s is otherwise when they get their actual soloing tools besides slowly beating things to death at a glacial pace.

I can appreciate the increased drop rate, but a side effect of this is almost all mobs that have weapons on their loot table spawn with 2 of them so they all quad and their damage output is wild. Is this intended?

Are the bots spell casting lists fixed or can they be edited? Would like to have the Paladin bot use cease and desist but they don't seem to have those spells. From what I can tell they only have 17 total spells (at least at my level not sure if they learn more at higher level)

Is there some trick to getting the bard bot to work? Even when I set it with only 1 song and ^enforcespellsettings it never uses it either in or out of combat. Some songs it uses just fine but others it will never use.
Can't get past the Character Select screen.I used the Portal to the Dreadlands in The Nexus, and once the teleport activated, it hung, then kicked me out of the game.I am unable now to get back into the game, my character is showing it is in the Dread lands, but when I try to "Enter World" it hangs, and punts me to the login screen.Guessing you have too many active zones and can't start another.

I forgot to open the additional zone server ports in docker. Server's back up and it should be fixed now.
I am crashing when trying to zone into Lavastorm from either Nek forest zoneline or druid port. I have tried a clean RoF2 client and one I downloaded from steam a couple weeks ago and same thing happens on both. I am using the expansion switcher, patched to OoW, and it seems to be working, the lavastorm files (10) have new timestamps. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
I cant seem to log in. I can get to character select, but then it just hangs up and goes back to the log in screen. I played and zoned several times, but the problem started when I tried to zone into Crushbone. I then made a new character wondering if the zone was down or something, and cant log in with that one either.

Looks like there still is an issue. Tried to zone back to Halas, and it kicked me to the login screen. Waited long enough for the time out, then logged back in, but unable to enter the world.

Seems the zoning thing has been resolved, however now there are no spells on the vendors and using the NPC to search for spells, all the spell names come up as "Invalid Item in Varlink." My starting robe, food, and bags are also missing..
My characters are about naked. Almost all their gear was quest gear and that has vanished.
From what I can tell, any item that is/was on a vendor is missing. There are very few things on any of the vendors. Im sure it has to do with the above Varlink error.

The gear missing was just a botched restart. Zoning is another story. I don't know why it crashed again. Every port is open with no conflicts. I'll dig into it at some point today.
Am I safe to zone around or should I just go to one zone and stick to it?

Can you not level to 61? I've killed many mobs and it just stays at 99%. Do you need to be in PoP?

I get kicked when I try to enter Misty Thicket
I'm still crashing when trying to enter lavastorm. The return home button on character selection screen is also greyed out so I cant return to bind point either. The return home button was working before, only change I made was re-download and install the latest client files from mega.nz. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are really gonna leave the cc changes in then at least consider lettings snares stick on raid mobs at the flee threshold. With the amount of health these mobs have it is a crapshoot whether or not they phase through the floor/walls before you can kill them or run through an entire zone while you are trying to dps them down.

Or mass adds that get spawned during a raid encounter that you would normally have a dedicated control team for in an actual raid situation.

Something wonky is going on in the Plane of Innovation, I escorted the gnome to Xanamech but there are like 4 Xanamechs here on top of each other, he activated one and I killed it then he activated another one right afterwards and I killed that one too but he died at the end of it. There are at least 2 more up.

So many that using the track skill just automatically causes the client to crash and they respawn very fast. Completing it in this state is not possible.
Thelin Poxbourne is not working correctly in the hedge maze mission in the Plane of Nightmare. He walks to one spot and then returns to his initial position then stands there for a few minutes and does it again.

Stunning Blow needs to be severely nerfed or removed completely, there is absolutely no reason I should be stunned for 5 straight minutes with 300 MR while I slowly die to some random trash mob.

The Bertoxxulous raid event in the Crypt of Decay does not progress past killing Kavilis Adan. I have waited over 30 minutes and killed dozens of mobs after killing Kavilis, and Raddi Adan has not spawned. As a side note, I believe this event should be retooled somewhat. Just to clear the Spectre of Corruption, the trash, and the first 4 named takes over an hour, and thats only 1/3 of the event, just for the opportunity to fight Bertoxxulous. Dying to him after spending so much time clearing would surely be beyond maddening, and then you have to wait 8+ hours for the Spectre to respawn to try again.

Now all is right with the world again.As of the latest census, Magicians are the most common class on the server, with 9 characters level 5 or higher and 4 past level 25. Necromancers, Shadow Knights, and Monks follow closely with 7 each, though only the Shadow Knights have advanced beyond level 50. Rangers come next with 6, while Berserkers have 5 total and 1 at level 52+. Warriors, Bards, and Rogues each have 4 characters over level 5, with Warriors and Druids tied for the highest representation at level 61 and above at 1 each. The priest and pure caster archetypes—Shamans, Clerics, Enchanters, and Wizards—each have only two or three characters represented, showing a clear bias toward melee and hybrid playstyles among higher-level players.Racially, Humans are the largest population overall, with 14 characters level 5 or higher, followed by Wood Elves (10) and High Elves (9).
