I agree with your takes, the spear is going to be so annoying to fight against and honestly I'm not surprised because Mojang cannot balance combat in this game nor figure out which direction they want to go with. When 1.9 came out they balanced their pvp around sword fighting but the wooden axe pretty much mogged everything else in comparison. I do not think that Mojang has any idea what they're doing with this game anymore, nucraft feels pretty modded to me. The art direction shifted, the gameplay changed. New miscellaneous items like the leaf litter just looks like poop on grass, I don't like it.

i don't really mind the overworld part, it works fine and its plenty fast. its ugly af, and slow compared to others, but unlike many other overworld designs, it actually allows reasonable access to the portal itself
but the storage part is just fucked and definitely needs quite a bit of help.

The server is a bit quieter now since mid september because of the summerfags going back to uni/general burn out from playing all summer. This server does not use dynmap, we use bluemap. I would avoid using dynmap, it is old technology, slow, bulky, takes a lot of space. Try something else like plexmap, bluemap or squaremap. They are all faster at rendering and take up less space. To answer your question however, no, you do not need to move over to Fabric/Forge. The Paper API has very good backwards compatibility, I wouldn't worry about it. It should work as is.

I think that there's a radius around the main portal that people should avoid (dragon perching would destroy it) and they shouldn't build too high up (dragon normal flying around destroy it), and also there's a cube around the tops of pillars to avoid (respawning the dragon deletes the blocks). But if you keep that in mind then you can still build a bunch of stuff around the island.

Tried this before but the dragon VILL kamikaze towards you even if you are quite far away from those aforementioned blocks and destroy everything, unless MajorGay changed that behaviour in these last few updates.
Alternatively, maybe turn off mob griefing for the Ender Dragon if possible? It's a bit gay because you could argue that other destructive mobs might as well get their griefing disabled for that Ultra Baby Shitcare experience, but I feel it's a bit more fair to disable it for the dragon since it's a boss that can only be spawned in one specific place in a dimension where the primary mob already has their mobgriefing disabled for maparts and shit

and there is no practical way to load chunks in the end. the obsidian platform itself, along with a 3x3 of chunks around it gets loaded from the action of the duper itself, sending entities through. but the storage doesn't fit into that 3x3 (well, theoretically it could, but only if i build it directly above/below the platform, and even then its tight)

the safe way to use it is with 2 people, 1 at the overworld duper, and 1 at the end to load the storage. and the one at the end must be there before the duper starts and must wait till the storage is finished sorting before leaving.

which basically means that the thing is guaranteed to break, because invenitably some1 will flip a switch just to see what it does, and then rip.
and ofc, as discussed above, there is also the possibility that some1 spawns a dragon and kills the storage.

so, yea, tldr, i want some feedback, particularly from the admins, about whether to go ahead with this. its a pretty sizeable build, and very hard to debug if something goes wrong because of unloading or dragon buttseks. and even that "very hard" assumes technical knowledge and having the schematic and all that. for non-technical players, its impossible.
so, can we actually stop dragon spawns? do we have a server plugin to force load some chunks? are the admins willing to do rollbacks to unfuck the machine otherwise?

the varloaders themselves are not unload proof. same for the box sorters. even an unfiltered mixed boxloader wouldn't be.
the only way to dumb this down to being unload proof is to go all the way back to simple item filters, no shulkers involved.
and if we go with the duper i had in mind, ~160k items per hour, that means ~20 filters per item, 10 if double speed, times 32 for colored powders and concrete, plus sand/red sand/anvils, for a total of 350 filters at least. which, no, we aren't doing that, lol.

the bottom half of the system is done, the varloader
appears to mostly be working, perhaps one small bug somewhere
next up, installing an actually non-shit duper

again reminder for anyone who wants to try this shit out: you need 2 people for it. the duper and the storage (*especially* the storage) need to be loaded at all times while in use

new duper basically done, testing it after dinner. ~150k, and should perfectly convert to concrete in conjunction with the arrival platform setup. also not make a mess around the arrival platform like the old one.

portal access still wip, for now its just a tiny netherrack bridge.

anybody wants to take charge of decorating the end portal room, speak up.
otherwise, ill do it myself with my usual style of 0% decoration, 100% function.

honestly, if you break the duper, its no biggie. hardly 100 blocks to the whole thing. will take me 10 mins to fix.
if you break the *storage*, you're on your own. refer to earlier pictures of it being built for an explanation.

but basically it boils down to this:
-you NEED 2 people, 1 at the duper, 1 at the storage at the end. sadly, it cannot be done with only 1 person.
-AFTER the guy at the storage at the end is in place, you can start the duper (there's a lever, which eventually will be clearly labeled, but for now don't go looking) and the storage guy can start the item collection with the carts.
- there's a noteblock at the end storage which waterlogs/unwaterlogs some leaves. this is the concrete conversion toggle. if the leaves are waterlogged, you get concrete. if not, you get powder.
-the duper produces ~150k items/hour, which is like 87 shulkers/hour, so do the math to figure out how long to run it.
- once you have enough, first you stop the duper, then you wait for the storage to finish storaging (currently that means a bunch of shulkers will pop up from the water stream, in the future it'll take longer because shulker sorter incoming), and then and only then the end guy can leave.
-oh, and remember to stop the collection carts too, because they get stuck

finally, one annoying thing about this system, its built for scale. the varloader sorts each item in its own box, but it does so at hopper speed. which means if you run only sand for like 5 mins, you'll get 8-9 shulkers worth of sand, but you'll get them in 15-20 half-full shulkerboxes. which is annoying.

this happens because you need 15-20 hoppers to keep up, each filling its own box, and 5 mins is not enough to fill a box with a hopper.
ofc, if you were to keep it running long enough, it would output full boxes no problem, but im guessing most people won't need that much.
which is why im thinking of adding a box merger

duper works beautifully, thank god. as does concrete conversion, 100% conversion rate, not a single powder came through. and not a single item left on the platform after the run was over.

i "decorated" the end portal room. feast your eyes.

unfortunately, it's likely that i'll have to move the duper to another portal. due to its use of tnt, the portal is kinda unusable while its in operation, you take dmg walking from one portal to the other.
