Give me some suggestions for off-meta ships for abyss that have some unique quality about them. I realize the Gila is the king of cruiser abyss and Retribution/Hawk/Logi trios are what people use for higher tier frigate abyss, but I want to try some uncommon things that might have their own niche.I was flying a Phantasm for a while in the abyss which turned out somewhat nice, and the Cynabal is fast for T3 and below. The Zealot was disappointing for a T2 HAC though.
Reminder 5 mids, 5 turrets, 50mb of drones, fast, and nobody flies it.
>>1974029With the recent buffs to remote repairs you could try duo confessor in electrical.Sacrilege in dark abyss is also nice.
>>1974085I had actually ran the Sac before I gave up and went to Gila, a lot of the problem was that the Sacrilege's damage was kind of low. It was mostly due to a mix of lower range requiring me to chase things like the Drifter and the application not being as strong against smaller and faster ships. I lost three or so due to time outs, usually bad luck with spawns and the ship being fairly slow. However, I think all armor ships will be worth a look at again due to the change in armor rigs, putting on a resistance rig might work better now since it won't drop your top speed. I used to use a Stratios for a bit in the abyss, and while it had some problems compared to the Gila (Namely lowered DPS if you're using heavy drones), speed was something that got it killed a lot too.I might consider just attempting duo abyss with an alt, I don't care to multibox frigates but I might could get used to two boxes at once. I already have Confessors maxed on a couple of characters so it'd be easy to start.
>>1974126>application not being as strong against smaller and faster shipsYeah, if you are running a sacrilege in dark you will need dual webs. Fitting a medium faction smartbomb (7.2k range) in top slot also help with small stuff and messes with triglavian remote reps a bit making it easier to break through their remote reps.
>>1974136I was using this fit for my cheap setup, tiering up the armor rep for T6 abyss. Mostly I did T5 though because it was easier and thus needed a cheaper ship. Most trigs weren't really a problem, most of them would keep slingshotting out my range and resetting their damage. The biggest problem was the Karybdis battleship because I'd have to chase it to the edge of the room unless it had a lancer to get stuck to, followed by the Drekavacs in a -50% weather because they'd be a little far for me to reach and again they'd float to the edge. Sansha would give me a small bit of trouble just because getting into brawl range with them is ugly with all the neuts and damage, but usually if I could murder a knight or two before things got too bad I was fine.Despite the Gila having lower damage on paper, I noticed I cleared faster with it just because its drones would practically be applying their damage from the moment I jumped into a room and tracked most targets well. I think I'd have better luck with the Sac if I could fit a MWD, but I'm not sure my tank and cap would hold up.
i really like the gila fit that uses the faction ballistic control system with 2 DDA. the dps is so fucking juicy, and its fun to spice in some gun usage instead of mashing F, but it sucks so bad to get the pylons that delete missiles and hurt the drones, so i just stick with 3 DDA>vro just fly away from itnyo, i will approach the conduit/origin like a moth to a bulb, and if the pylon is there, so be it, be strong, my 'augmented' infiltrators. id like to try the vagabond, but im worried about karen pockets and blinding/renewing leshak rooms specifically
amarr unironically
>Wormlife system attacked by Balls Deep>Probably going to be another brawl someone loses far more ISK in ships than the 500m ISK or so the station will droplmao
>>1974029Ive been wanting to fly a Wolf in T1s mostly cuz I think it'd just be fun to fly a Wolf. Your best bet would be to look at Abysstracker.com and pick some ships that ppl definitely run with but are weird/niche/rare.
>>1975238I really just want a fun turreted ship. Missiles and drones are really common, but like anything you just get sick of it after a while. The Phantasm is pretty cool, but not quite great enough to justify using it in T5 or T6.
I've 30b, Rattlesnake and Gila but I still didn't pvp because finding people is hard. And even if I did find people, I might be against 10 years old veterans with blingiest fit. Or they just drop cap on me.

>>1975493That might be a good idea. But t1 is too weak. So I will just spam Pilgrim instead.
>>1975488The only way I get fights is by baiting with a Procurer in wormholes. I park an alt on a mining site and sit cloaked with a Falcon and two Lokis to pick off whoever shows up. It still takes a couple of hours or so to get someone even when the chain is busy.
>wormhole "pvp"
>>1975549>T1 is too weakif you're a bad pilot sure.
this thread unfortunately psy-op'd me into thinking wh pvp is bad, but now after ive moved to high class, ive learned that its incredible, truly its only low class that doesnt do anything because they dont make money to afford having fun
I'm coming back to EVE for the first time since 2008 solo. I am doing the AIR starter missions, working on exploration and combat. I missed this game, love the OG soundtral.
Always undock with ECM modules fitted during fleet fights.
>>1975666>they dont make money to afford having funI've been trying to explain that the wormhole UN reps. C5 and C6 mentality if fundamentally different than the rest of wormhole space, they print so much money that they can afford to burn it on honor duels and such. C3 and below isn't making anything close to that, and C4 is about the middle class of j-space. You can't get upset when some random corp with an Astrahus in a C2 won't throw a few billion ISK of ships at you when they don't even make that in a month. It's why Hawks/HK's desire to get more capitals out in j-space is doomed from the start, there's not enough resources to justify their existence anywhere but C5/C6. You're not going to see people deploying Rorquals unless their value can justify their price.
>>1975778I can't believe in 20+ years, CCP has never actually added to the OST. We've been listening to the same shit all throughout EVE.

>>1970789Amarr or Minmatar?
How would you fit a Maelstrom for L4 mission running? It's one of the few battleships I haven't tried out and I'm curious how it would work. I feel like its shield boost bonus would favor a brawling setup, but it's so slow you'd never get in range for autocannons.

tempest has 33% more gun dps, so there's no reason to fly a mealstorm if you don't require the big tank
>>1976943It used to not be so cut and dry, the Maelstrom and the Tempest had the same DPS at Minmatar Battleship IV. I don't know what CCP was thinking actually nerfing the true damage of the Maelstrom.
true, but the changes are a net improvement, and the ship is now better defined. I think it's only a little bit bad and weird when compared to the tempest, which is not a well balanced ship since they just went full retard on its dps, and the double cancer highs are a big dealthere are a bunch of other ships that are just a bit redundant, such as megathron vs hyperion
>>1976989The Apoc vs Abaddon is like that now since the Apoc now has the damage bonus of the Abaddon (Well, navy apoc does, but the T1 version is close). Sure, the Abaddon has 20% resist bonuses at level 5, but the navy apoc has just about as much EHP anyway due to its faction status, plus it has +50% range, -50% cap use on guns, and a 37.5% higher rate of recharge built into the hull. The only thing I'd say improved for the Maelstrom is that it has a harder alpha strike at the cost of sustained DPS.
that's just navy/faction ships being lazy bullshit and cancer though, they're always going to ruin any ehp comparisonI think it would have been nicer if amarr bs could have turned out with armageddon being like it used to be, the 8/3/8 true soul brawler. that way they'd have two very different laser ships. then abaddon could be the twat dominix one everyone hates instead, which would be good because it's ugly
>>1976880I would sell the Maelstrom and buy a Tempest or Machariel instead.
>>1977776It's more of a thought exercise for my own entertainment, I own one every battleship (T1 and faction) and occasionally take them out to run missions for shits and giggles with. The Maelstrom is the one out of the entire set I haven't bothered to use, not because it's flat out bad like the Abaddon but because it's just overshadowed by everything else. I want to like it, but I might as well fly a Tempest other than it or just pick a different race entirely.

>>1979787Over 3 days logging in and joining the standing FW fleet doing mostly nothing for a few hours a night, not even plexing on purpose, I earned more LP than a month of grinding lvl4s for 6+ hours a day in a marauder. I guess the appeal is that it's as safe as can be, and you can easily use fits that let you go afk and not worry about it. I used to work a night shift job monitoring an automated assembly line years ago and I ran L4 missions on a laptop just to have something to do that I could walk away from on a moments notice and not worry about, so I get it.
>>1981140>>1981333Who cares if it pays well, sometimes it's just fun to sit back and shoot red dots. No need to turn it into a job.
very based, it really isnt about the money, unless you make it out to be, blitzing and burner missions. personally, its how I learned nearly every 'basic' thing related to combat: application, tracking, navigation, ranges of different weapons, the list could go on, taking in the atmosphere and the lovely music (which they should have more of). upgrading from a coercer to a drekavac is one of the best feelings ive had in a vidya. i still have that L3 machine sitting in jita. as i began to understand the weapon platforms, i saved up enough from the LP store and eventually skilled into everything i needed to fly my NApoc for level 4 missions, which is, by the way, incredibly soulful and not gay. I witnessed power spikes ill never be able to experience again in an interactive media. being able to safely pop cerebrals and sit in my training clone, the dailies, the login bonuses, i skyrocketed in sp. now I can be poor and happy, or I can get more affluent than i am now and efficiently grind, or pvp, for fun. in fact, I wish people did missions more, because thousands of people are absolute abysmal dog shit at this game, but the main attraction the players tell other players is to get rich-rich-rich, and people want to plex their accounts and 'play for free' and run 12 alts. man, I cant believe the amount of people I've seen with horrible skill allocation, lack of weapon platforms, flying marauders without T2 guns, maybe they even only have level 1 or 2 in their skill page. depending on how you make your isk, it can make you retarded, boring, and greedy. i havent been playing long, only 2ish years, but its staggering how people have 150m sp compared to my 72m sp, and they dont even have all cruisers to level V, or all their support skills for guns and missiles arent even maxed out

It should've been a 2D Dotlan-style map from the beginning. Pity that Zkill ruined their map a month or two ago. Lags like piss for no reason now and looks worse.
I'm a new player running npc combat missions, Do I need to upgrade to Omega or fly alpha for now? Once I pay for premium time I feel pressured to play (or else I am wasting money). I just wanna have fun bros.
missions are gay
>>1984895Once you get to L4 missions, you'll have to upgrade to omega because you can't take them otherwise. You could look for similar content that's not locked as well, there's a few other things that work like them but will probably need you to travel or make other sacrifices.High sec DED sites can be found by clearing out those combat sites that spawn randomly around high sec, such as Guristas (Or any other pirate name) Hideaways, Blood Raider Refuges, Sansha Dens, etc. Each one you clear has a chance to spawn a miniboss that can drop some decent loot and escalate to a new site that is guaranteed to have a boss in it with a high chance to drop loot. You can do these sites in a cruiser for the most part, though the escalations you get from a pirate Den need a battleship most likely. They can pay well but they're a slot machine, you could do one and immediately get 150m ISK in loot from it or you could do a dozen and see nothing.Joining a group in nullsec gives you access to higher tier versions of these that pay well for their bounties in addition to rare loot, but then you have to interact with nullsec.Abyss can be done in high sec, needing a frigate or cruiser to clear. They pay fairly reliably, but there's a hump to get over in terms of difficulty--the lower tier versions of abyss are pretty easy and if you clear them quickly pay well, but the mid tier ones are significantly harder and although each site pays better, you spend longer clearing them so the overall pay is similar. Abyss eventually requires a very expensive cruiser but can pay very well for a solo activity you can do on demand, and even high tier abyss doesn't need omega.Incursions are in high sec and are like missions except done with a fleet. They move around and require a battleship and ten or so people. There's incursion groups that take anyone, but they usually have their own rules as to what you can fly, though absolute newbie ships are fine (IE, Praxis with lasers).

both the 3d and 2d maps are fine and didnt need this useless ass dev time in it, what is actually the benefit? now I can see how far people can blops? whatever
We use waypoint to move around but most people ignore that there are pocket systems exist and people have a hard time finding them along the routes. the 2d map will help with that.
>>1986912I am inclined not to complain about it too much because unlike most useless features CCP adds, this one is a step in the right direction to integrate dotlan's mapping system into the game. Perhaps CCP will make their own integrated Pathfinder/Tripwire/Galaxyfinder next.>>1986946It helps for pocket systems, but it also helps just give statistics in an easier to read format as you travel. See the average number of pilots in space, NPC/Player kills, etc at a glance on an easier to see 2D map. Pretty nice when you're rolling your LS/NS exit and want to see what's around quickly without having to navigate through a clunky 3D map.

I know it's a longshot asking here, but is there any hard data on what quantity of resources you get for salvaging various player wrecks? I have a pretty good idea what NPCs salvage into, but I'm curious how stable the resources you get from salvaging structure wrecks and player battleships are.
>>1986286Well being real I'm a new player when it comes to Stellaris and got it for $10 on sale a month or two ago. First thing I did after an initial playthru to learn the game was to look for Eve mods and turns out they all broke with an update some months/years ago which is just a RIP. Ended up just making my own Eve factions using a "1000 custom logos" mod that had some Eve faction logos in it and thats been fun. I just used ChatGPT to give me the more lore accurate abilities/govt types and stuff for each faction so they fit thematically .Currently watching Angel Cartel kill Amarr while Caldari State sneak in from behind and claim all the systems Angels are clearing.

You can be competitive in less than 5 days training ewar and frigates
>>1991209I do hate the skills system and the very old school "here's how we keep you subscribed" mentality it's based on but I feel like everyone being able to do everything from the get-go would be bad. It would be interesting if they could implement something more akin to a traditional XP system for doing actions in game. But it would be such a change I don't see it ever happening.I wish they'd just get rid of attributes finally, how many Fan fests have they announced they're going to do it?
nobody cares. capital nerfs when
Cap problems? Nope, have mindflood with me.
>>1991209The skill system should be revamped to be similar to the fitting system. Limited amount of space and slots to fit specific skills.Remove the basic fitting skills like Amarr Frigate and Caldari Hauler and Small Projectile Turret, remove fitting skills, make it so that any character can sit in any ship with any fitting from day 1. I shouldn't have to hear when I give someone a ship, "Oh, but I don't have destroyers trained! I guess I can't fly it."Make skills discrete with a single rank. Instead of Small Energy/Projectile/Hybrid Turret I-V, you have just Gunnery Proficiency which increases damage of all turrets when installed in a clone. Other skills are dependent on having it installed, so if you want to use something like Gunnery Motion Prediction you have to have its prerequisite on.Each skill takes up a certain amount of points and each clone has a maximum. You can equip the same skill multiple times, but it costs more points each time. Implants no longer increase attributes, instead increasing the total number of available points in a clone, allowing you to install more skills--implants have been merged, getting rid of all discrete hardwiring implants and all unique pirate implants, which now just give additional clone skill points compared to the regular implant types.
>>1974029Seconding this again since the test server is up this weekend. I've already lost a few Worms trying to do T3, trying to think what else I could do.
>>1991209Skill points honestly dont matter as much as people think they do and eventually every Eve player gets to a point where you just keep rerolling low skillpoint characters for different stuff instead of trying to use your high skillpoint main for everything.
>>1992204Ironically, skill points matter little in large scale combat that typically involves veteran players fighting for alliances and matters the most when it's small gangs or 1v1 where most new players will naturally gravitate to. If you want to start taking fights in FW or whatever, you really want to have maxed navigation and weapon skills. This doesn't even get into mining where your skillpoints are a direct relation to how much you can mine per hour. Either CCP needs to find a way to relax the need for SP in the areas of the game newbies play in or needs to find new ways to bring people into fleets where their SP doesn't matter as much.

>When your static wormhole has been end of life with one hour remaining for the last two hours
>>2031401Those notes are based on the minimum possible lifetime. Wormholes have variance on lifetime just like they do on mass. I've seen wormholes stay EOL for up to 7 hours.
>>2031421I figured when it was +/- 10% lifetime, it'd be at most 4.4 hours EOL and 1.1 hours super EOL. I haven't really recorded what the longest something been EOL for, but a feeling says it can be pretty long.I think too wormholes only check their EOL timers every 10 or so minutes, or when someone passes through them. I've seen a lot of wormholes time out just as soon as I've jumped which can't be a coincidence. So I wouldn't doubt one's timer's probably been expired for a bit, but the global check on wormholes hasn't happened to make it expire yet. It's probably a chance based thing, like the game only checks X amount of wormholes across the servers at any given time and sometimes a wormhole can remain unchecked for a long time.
I've come to the conclusion that EO has ruined gaming for me. EO especially in its current maintenance mode and with the dog shit obsolete gameplay is not worth playing in current year. However, no real alternative with similar scale exists and every other game feels hollow and pointless. I've been coping with Foxhole which manages to be a good EO-lite. I especially like the way more whelpable feel of the equipment in the game, as even the most expensive stuff gets thrown around with reckless abandon instead of gathering dust in some mega coalition staging like eve supers. But when I intermittently burn out with Foxhole I'm always back to the original problem of everything being unplayable junk. Thanks for reading my blog, like comment and subscribe.

>>2032083>I've come to the conclusion that EO has ruined gaming for me.This but unironically. >>2032083>I've come to the conclusion that EO has ruined gaming for me.It's the exact opposite feeling for me. I now have more appreciation for more specialized games that stick to their niche and do it well. EO seems like the prototype for those Ubisoft sandboxes that came to plague the gaming post 2010, where they try to make up for a lack of actual good gameplay by just cramming as much shit as possible in the game. EO gameplay is just boring and unimaginative as shit, be it in terms of PVP or PVE. Once I am done with this game (which will be relatively soon) I am - and I say this without a trace of irony - going back to DOTA2 and some other PVP games. EO really made me appreciate how much more polished, focused and balanced the PVP aspect of those games is.

Frigate T0 pays the same as cruiser T1 about. If you're just doing solo and not triple boxing frigates, you'll pretty much always go towards a cruiser at some point because solo frigates cap out at T2.
>>2042937>That's not exact though because the site that takes statistics, abyssal lurkers, has a higher instance of solo cruisers taking all cans in a run vs frigates taking only the bio cacheOk that's a bit counter-intuitive to me, because I did a few T1/T2 (the pay was dogshit) in a Gila with an AB, and I often had to leave some caches behind because they were too far and I was too slow. I expected frigates/destroyers to be able to cruise toward caches faster and get more of them.
>>2042974I do it in a Gila and send my drones towards the caches to pop them, reeling them in with a MTU after the fact. Frigates can move quicker, but cruisers can often destroy caches at range with drones without having to move hardly at all. I did the same with a Sacrilege.Frigates don't always travel to the distant caches because those don't upgrade in loot value when using multiple filaments. Only the bio cache gets more stuff in it, so it proportionately has more loot and frigates just clear the site quicker by skipping the far caches.
>>2042988So you just blitz toward the gate, popping caches & rats on the way, then drop the MTU there and wait for it to reel the drop in?Would multiple MTUs drag multiple containers?
>>2043021Not always. Sometimes I burn towards the gate if the wave is easy, but on a lot I play it differently.EDENCOM/CONCORD is a DPS race, you must keep moving and try and kill Marshals ASAP. Never enter a blue cloud against them or you will die.Sansha waves have to be chipped away at, I can't take on multiple Knights up close. Thankfully they're all slow so they're easy to keep at 40km+ with the Gila where they can't neut and do lower damage.Angel waves you can fly straight to the gate, you can't avoid them anyway, they're too fast.Drifter Battleships have to be chased down to the edge of the arena. You could sit on the gate with your drones on them if you could tank them, but probably not and you wouldn't be getting your missile damage on them. These are a drain on time.Trig waves come in three flavors. Drekavacs and Vedmaks pretty much have to be fought head on, it's a damage race to kill enough before their ramp breaks your tank. Kikimoras should be ran from though and picked off at range since they usually come in big packs and don't have much HP. Leshaks must be fought at point blank range but thankfully they're made of paper, just don't let them rep each other.Drone waves should be pulled to a Deviant Automata Suppressor (Small if possible), blue cloud, or fought at the gate in that order. They can do surprisingly high DPS before you thin their ranks, so try and not sit still and fight them until you've killed some. Kill weather matching ones first (IE, Spark drones if in Electrical abyss).Sleeper cruisers are generic, kill them at a good pace. They don't need any special strategy other than good DPS.Sleeper Battleships and Drone Battleships are simple DPS checks, get close, keep moving, chip away.Once it looks like the room is under control, I'll drop the MTU and send out drones to kill caches. Doing it mid room results in having to wait for the MTU to work, but it's still quick-ish. More MTUs don't work at once.
>>2043121A lot of new players don't really understand weapon application mechanics and the abyss is where they come into play a lot more since enemies move quicker there. Most people get turrets, the faster you're flying around someone the harder time turrets have to track. They don't really get different breakpoints (Such as where they should orbit if they're a cruiser in pulse lasers fighting another cruiser with artillery), but the get the idea that small, fast ships should rapidly orbit big, slow ones at close range which is usually good enough for most situations. In k-space PvE, turrets basically have zero problems tracking things at long range because NPCs move very slowly there and don't try to evade fire, which isn't the case at all in the abyss. Having a web is very useful for abyss for cruiser class ships since slowing something by -60% effectively increases your tracking by 150%.Missiles have two attributes, explosion radius and explosion velocity, which determine how well they hit small stuff. Explosion radius is compared to the target ship's signature radius, so if the target has 50m sig and your missile has 100m ER, you do 50/100 = .5 or 50% damage to them. Explosion velocity is the same, if your missile explodes at 200 m/s and they're moving at 1000 m/s, you do 200/1000 = .2 or 20% damage to them. These compound, so 50% * 20% becomes 10% damage dealt. Again, get a web to slow their velocity, and either get rigs, guidance computers, or target painters to help the sig. Or use smaller missiles that do less paper DPS but apply better (Rapid lights).Drones are really hard to calculate, they have very high tracking but orbit very close and very quickly. You can usually get by with using drones one size bigger on targets, so medium drones vs small (Frigate/destroyer) ships. Webs can help them apply to some degree. That's why the Gila is great, its drones are very tough and apply very well to everything, even without webs.
>Webs can help them apply to some degreeI find they more often reduce applied drone damage
>>2043141There's a reason everyone flies the Gila for abyss. The drones have great application and don't die easily, the ship is pretty tanky due to being a shield ship with a resist bonus, and since drones do most of its damage it doesn't suffer as much from the low DPS of rapid light missiles. The stars lined up for the ship when you need something self-sufficient that can bully small ships and still apply respectable DPS to larger ones. The Muninn and Sacrilege are also popular to a lesser degree, needing better skills to preform as good as the Gila. Missile based ships that usually use HAMs but have application bonuses, they might have some trouble against very small ships (Drones, some frigates) but otherwise do good damage to most targets and are very tough so their tanks don't break easily. Both are flown with armor tanks to leave room for webs or guidance computers or target painters in the mids, along with a large cap battery.Cerberus works like above from an offensive standpoint but doesn't apply as well and doesn't tank as hard.Stormbringer is an imbalanced choice. It can wipe some rooms nearly instantly, but others (Battleships), it struggles against. Also very expensive and an uncommon skillset. Can be good for expert level blitzing, but expect an eventual death.Ikitursa no longer works due to spool time change.Other ships work to varying degrees. Vagabonds handle abyss somewhat well due to application especially in Gammas. Zealot is a somewhat fragile but good damage laser platform for Electricals, potentially Firestorms. Phantasm is an alpha friendly version of that. The Cynabal is a paper thin Vagabond, again alpha friendly, that caps out reliably at T4s. Stratios should be an armor Gila, except its heavy drones have bad application and it's far more expensive due to deadspace armor reps. Most others aren't worth considering for T4+ abyss due to poor cost effectiveness.
For starter cruisers, go with the Vexor or Arbitrator for drones (Arb feels very similar to a Gila so it's good practice for the ship) or the Caracal for missiles. All can do T2 abyss with a 30m ISK fitting and can potentially scale to T3 with better skills or fitting. Navy ships may or may not be slightly better depending on the bonuses they get.Solo frigates dead end at T2 abyss, but 2x Retribution/Hawk + 1x logi frigate work well up to T4 or even T5 to some degree. Destroyers are usually terrible, but T3Ds are slightly better, especially in duos. T1 Destroyers do have use for very new characters who need to meet the DPS requirements in T0/T1 abyss, nothing afterwards.>>2043147Webs hurt drone DPS while in "chase" mode. If an enemy ship is moving in a straight line, drones follow behind it with their MWD on and partially match velocity, negating tracking problems. When the ship starts to orbit, they lose DPS. Webs help when enemies settle into an orbit.
>>2043157>Ikitursa no longer works due to spool time change.Iki still works in Darks up to T5. It's more expensive, but it's also really chill because it's a smartbomb ship with a secondary weapon that kills battleships. Struggles at T6 and isn't worth the risk.As far as Cruisers for higher tiers go, the Broadsword is heavily slept on, albeit skill intensive. It's similar to the Vagabond except it has a much stronger tank and the ability to fit a Web which is a HUGE benefit if you're like me and traumatized by fucking Ghosting Damavik swarms. Broadswords can do up to T6 Gamma. If you've flown the Vaga a lot I'd highly recommend trying out the Broadsword for a couple of hours next time SiSi comes up.
>>2043237I haven't tried the Broadsword yet, I'll give it a shot. I believe I tried a Devoter to disappointing results, so I wrote off HICs for abyss.I don't really like the Ikitursa though. Yeah, the smartbomb can clear some waves very quickly, the ramping damage is good for getting rid of annoying battleship waves, but the ship is heavily dependent on -50% or -70% optimal range penalties to work, which I hate. It's like the Stormbringer, amazing when it is, has terrible lows.

>Namewho fucking cares>only spawns in null/lowthat's where it should be>Ore doesn't even have good valuethey can easily tweak some numbers>is made of papergood. barges are far too tanky
>>2043706Fuck off, null's the last one who needs an ore that can refine into anything, they already can spawn whatever asteroid types they want in a system. Everywhere else is still dealing with scarcity. The only thing good about the new site is it will be a complete wet fart that CCP won't fix so it will likely be worthless to null. None of the changes in this expansion will do anything to the meta.
if you have an instawarp bookmark, realistically is there any way someone can kill you exiting an npc station in null?
>>2043550does iceland have such a shortage of BPD women they need to import them from out of country?
>>2043764Keep combat probes centered on the station, scan as soon as you warp. There's a decent chance their scan completes as your ship is slowing down, then it's just a question of if their interceptor can land on your ship before it aligns and warps. If you have an insta-warp and a covert cloak, there's virtually no chance you can be caught unless your undock point was previously scanned down and you warp to it at 0 every time. Best they can do then is bubble the undock every time.
>>2043778thanksi'm in an travel ares so i don't think i have to worry about probinggonna try to get some BPOs of the new ship back to high sec
>>2043788You should consider something with a covert cloak and nullifier. Sub 2s interceptors are unlikely to be caught, but are still vulnerable to smartbombs to some degree and insta-locks. Covert cloaks cannot be insta locked provided they don't lag.Take a wormhole from null to high sec instead of gates, it gives away far less intel and in a covert ops you'll blend right in with everyone else scanning systems.
>>2043794i'm already there and i have a nullifier and all my bookmarks, all i have left to do is buy my bpos and take the triglavian express
>>2043794Covert cloaks take longer to actually cloak you than travelceptors do to enter warp, so they're kind of irrelevant. So long as you have enough EHP in your ceptor to not die to Smartbombs you're gucci.
>>2043926Not exactly due to game tick fuckery. Cloaks are timestamped during a tick whereas you can only enter warp at the end of a tick due to the way commands are processed. This means in extreme cases, you can be locked and pointed despite being a sub-2s align (Though not sub 1s) but so long as you hit your cloak at the right time it won't happen. It's true you'll appear on the overview for longer with a cloak, but if someone tries to lock you after you've hit the button, they just get an error even if they can see you. However, it does give them a chance to bump you if you can't align and warp fast enough. The main failure on a cloak is landing on a grid full of trash designed to decloak you, which requires setup and isn't easy to do around some gates.
Different Anon here, don't see the point of using a prop mod if the moment you get into battle you get-webbed-scrambed-your Micro warpdrive shut down-and your MWD chewing 15% of your maximun capYou'd rather put on a capbooster and enjoy near immunity to neuts instead.
>>2044415It depends, but it's hard to gauge. The real question to ask yourself is "is my prop mitigating any damage I would be taking or helping me to position in this fight?" and if the answer to both is no, you don't need a prop mod.In the case of most PvP roams though, you don't know who you're going to come up against and what they'll have. You know that in theory there are fights you'd take in which the prop mod would not only be useful but required for victory, so you can't forgo it. There will also be fights where a Daredevil webs you to a dead stop and it doesn't help at all, or where you'll get scrammed and your MWD doesn't help. But that also goes for a cap booster, where your opponents may not have neuts and so the slot is wasted. Ultimately, I'd pick the utility of a prop mod, and sometimes the utility of a dual prop, over a cap booster in most cases. There's only a few ships where I expect to sit still be a turret and they typically aren't PvP focused ships.
>but muh null!null is the main space and the focus of the game. things are supposed to happen there

>>2043121Alright, I ran a handful of T3 exotic in a Gila (https://abysstracker.com/fit/557cf65f-d8f8-4f46-8205-bebc85c85539), with virtually 0 threat. DPS was enough to clean every rat before the container were dragged by the MTU, tank was a non-issue, if it wasnt for the time limit I could do that AFK.How much of a step up is the T4, with regard to the DPS? "Still a snoozefest", "risk with some spawns" (marshalls/trigs?), or "actually need constant awareness to not get wrecked like a retard"?
>He's at it againhttps://zkillboard.com/kill/131000658/I swear this is some retarded Saudi buying stupid amounts of plex.
>>2044831It requires a slight amount of attention on waves like Marshalls. T5 is a big step up, t6 is an even bigger step up and depending on the weather goes into the territory of "Missile ships putting a turret in their utility high because the extra 35 DPS matters".

>>2043708>Everywhere else is still dealing with scarcity.lowsec is the most profitable area in the game by a large marginWH space doesn't matterpoch doesn't matter
>>2044831In my experience:>T0Designed primarily for absolute newbies in solo frigates. Does not pay any real value for cruisers or destroyers. Only threat is a Skybreaker enemy that some low skill players can't break the tank on.>T1A step up, but still designed for newbies running solo in a cruiser or a T2/pirate frigate. Will introduce you to some new enemies like Devoted Knights, Cynabals, drone battlecruisers, and I think Drifter Battleships. Still very easy for cruisers or reasonably easy for well fit solo frigates.>T2Decent step up from T1, but not huge. You get the new enemy types backed up with one or two extra ships. New players will need to upgrade their fitting on their T1 cruiser to something better or train more skills. Solo frigates start to really struggle with reliability.>T3From here on, the difficulty curve rises more gradually. Everything is basically more ships, more incoming DPS, more EWAR, but nothing really new. T2 to T3 isn't a very big leap. Very well fit and skilled T1 cruisers can handle it, Navies do a bit better, but by this time you need to start thinking about a pirate/T2 cruiser for practicing higher tier abyss. The same motions to run T3 will be used for higher tier sites, for the most part.>T4DPS starts to become noticeably higher and you really need to focus on killing the right enemies and flying the right way as per your ship and enemy spawn. This is also the tier where the payout becomes respectable for a cruiser, being about 40m ISK per run. Pirate/T2 cruiser basically required, though some players do navy ships for fun if they understand what they're doing. Clear time can become a problem, ships will begin to time out due to low DPS. Most alpha clones will max out here.
>>2045145>T5Damage becomes high enough that faction and deadspace mods start to become a must. Careful consideration must be had for killing rooms fast enough. Dark weather starts to become a big penalty. Skills become a big part of success, as do implants. Pay is pretty good and most players not devoted to the abyss stop here. Alphas with a very specialized skillset can get by with a Gila in here with some narrow rooms. Omegas with implants don't have too much trouble in a meta ship if they understand spawns.>T6Fly a meta ship (Gila, Ishtar, Muninn, Sac), bling it out. Spend some cash on implants, deadspace mods, go wild. T6 is sometimes deceptive because while some rooms aren't much more difficult than T5, it has higher peaks in the most deadly ones, which is where the bling comes into play. Plays the same as a more deadly T5, no real change in skills needed. Pays very well, but will still take many successful runs to pay off your blingy ship.Cruiser payout progression per run is roughly:T1->T2->T3->T4->T5->T62.5m->5m->10m->30m->60m->100mPayouts 1 tier higher for frigates.
tf do they use ai to write the news
>>2045148>>2044831Just to explain further, I do use that Gila fit you posted for running T5 Exotics in an alpha clone with no implants, so it's a pretty strong base. I've found it to be the most economical way to run the abyss. I have close calls but I have almost 200 runs with it without a loss. The main reason I don't do T6 is I don't like flying an overly blingy ship and running the risk of someone bothering to hunt me down. Sure it can be mitigated by having an Orca alt in system so you can store your ship in it after a run, but that's far too much cheese for me to enjoy doing daily.
>>2044876what's profitable in low sec?
>two deepflow rifts in one system
>>2045731Does anyone actually do them? I finally went and fitted an alt to fly around and clear them while I scan elsewhere, he's got five tractor beams that I tab into every 15 seconds or so and mash. Each site is worth like 25m ISK or so and just consists of hitting tractor beams on a dummy wormhole for 15 minutes.Like, the payout is not horrible in the grand scheme of things for the ship and effort it requires, but the content is so dull as to not be content at all.
>>2045737Took 30 minutes and I got 123M.
>>2045757What part of space? I haven't done them in wormholes since the changes.
>>20457640.2 Sansha lowsec
>>2045767I haven't done any in null, pre or post change. When they first released, I used to find them in j-space frequently where they were identical to high sec's, only that they dropped an extra six cans. Each can still had only about 1m ISK worth of loot in it.It's possible they're now different between security bands and the payout is good enough to consider doing it. As for high sec though, they're mostly a waste of time unless you happen to have an alt who can do them while you do other things.
Do people still farm FW missions in stealth bombers? I used to like hunting them in an interceptor, but I roamed through both FW warzones and found zero mission beacons in total.
>>2045148Thanks for all the tips, bro, I got through a couple of T4 this morning, and apart from a few knights that nearly depleted my shields, it was alright, but if it wasn't for you, marshalls may have had my ass.
T5 and T6 are traps. They're not profitable at all for cruisers. People run them for gameplay sake. You know, when you don't need isk but enjoy the thrill or want to sweat hard in double LASB 300mil vaga. Stick to T4. Or if you want both isk and gameplay try 3 frigs. Avoid destroyers. Duo destroyers abyss is cursed dogshit content.
>>2046197I enjoy them mainly as something I can do single boxed that makes reasonable money. Gigasweat t6 firestorms on the other hand are retarded, that shit takes like a 14b fit to do consistently, one loss and you're in the red for hundreds of runs.On the whole I agree that going past t4 isn't really worth it from an isk to risk perspective. T5 fits typically run you a similar cost to a shitfit Dread, and a shitfit Dread could just do Crab beacons at way less risk with a much higher Insurance payout and make more money. T6 fits are going to cost as much as high class wormhole crab dread settups, which make several times the isk if you have the access. The other side though is high class abyss can let you fly some ships which you just don't get much opportunity to fly. Ships like the Sacrilege are good in the abyss but really don't see much use in other places.

i lived in a class 2 for like 6 months running reactions solo, was good money, i eventually got evicted but i didn't care because i had made so much iski then decided to set up in a c1 and ended up being evicted within a few days (seems someone was watching that system and does PI there)all that said, was i just unlucky the second time? i'm perfectly happy to hop from hole to hole until i get evicted, assuming it takes at least a month or two (i only need a few days for the structure to pay for itself), what do you guys figure? is it possible i do the same thing again and manage to live a few months?
Just go live in a public wormhole station. Easier to manage and someone will defend it for you. There's no reason to set up a solo station until you're multiboxing 10+ accounts, especially once it's been shown you won't defend it.

So if you put on a reactor, you'd have to drop off 7200 fuel blocks to keep it running for a month. When you want it back, ask them to return it.>TaxRanges from .5 to 1.5% for service modules. If you were making a 10% profit on reactions, this would work out to be roughly 10% reduced profit, so you'd now be making 8.9% profit on reactions. It's fine if you want to anchor your own station in space so you can have the experience of having something to yourself, just understand that it won't be profitable compared to a public one until it stays down for a while and there's a lot more overhead involved.

>>2045145Had a lot of fun and luck running Rifter in T1 on Omega account (not sure about the Omega part). There was 1 unkillable encounter and 2 very hard ones.
>>2048971I meant alpha, I forgot which is paid one
have you dilated in j130253 today anon?
>>2047455>goneAnon picrel was running the show like 10 years ago.
>>2048971With a Worm you can speedrun T1s in about 5-7min each making around 50-70mil/hr depending on drops. On the Tier 1 encounters:>Tessera battlecruiserBe more than 15km away basically. Its guns have perfect tracking closer than 15km but beyond that it cant do anything to you. If you have drones then get ready to babysit them>Angel roomThe only other annoying room. Basically kill shit as quick as you can. Pulse your modules on/off as much as you can to conserve cap so you dont get capped out. Pop a blue pill booster if its getting rough. >Everything elseSemi-afk orbit the Biocache can at 5km and you win.
I finally splurged on a golem for L4, and I ask myself: how needed is the active tank, really? So far it eats missions like nothing else, I barely had to cycle my booster a handful of time at most just to stay at 100%. It feels like I could just buffer tank it, remove all booster & cap modules and rigs and slap a bunch of extenders and hardeners, making it impervious to suicide ganking.
>>2050345For most missions, you don't even really need a tank so long as you have 60km+ range. Most battleships won't be able to hit you from that far out and smaller ships don't do enough damage to break your tank. However, you won't ever get a marauder impervious to suicide ganking. Their buffers are not that great, even when you're fitting for it, unless you're literally burning all of your midslots on tank and screwing up your ability to run missions. Expect to be scanned down on a gate to check your fit and for hounds/purifiers to undock to catch you, or for a scout to see what type of rat you're fighting and warp Coercers/Catalysts to hit your resist hole.Of course, this assumes you're running missions for SoE or some other busy hub. If you're in bumfuck, nowhere Amarr or in some .7+ security hub out of the way of things, you probably don't even have to worry about being ganked.
>>2050345Marauders don't get the bonus to buffer that other Battleships do. Marauders are also bad for level 4 missions. If you want to make isk from missions you should either be doing Burner missions in a Nergal or doing level 5's in whatever the fuck people do level 5s in. Standard battleship level 4 missions are basically worthless and you will almost certainly get ganked before the Golem pays for itself.
>>2050057Seagull was an exception back then. Everyone in the latest dev vlog was either visibly gay, brown or both.
>>2050412>However, you won't ever get a marauder impervious to suicide ganking. No ship is ever going to be impervious to ganking, How often will the gankers go through 190k EHP (2 extender rigs, 3 large shield extenders, 2 hardeners) for a T2 fit, through?

the thought of nullniggers paying asset safety for their supers makes me all warm inside
>>2050476>>2050530They do it for a chilling effect rather than any other reason. It's why they gank empty freighters too. The idea is to drive you out of high sec and force you into null (Or at least somewhere else).

Horde pretty much lost most of their cap fleet no? This asset safety is a death trap. For years or even decade their asset safety systems will be monitored by cap/super hunters 24/7. Good luck with selling this dead weight too.>kick-out stations
did something happen i wasnt paying attentionis horde dead?!!?
>>2050476Depends entirely where you're running your missions. Mission hubs like Lanngisi are fukken spicy, people will even blind-gank Assault frigates there in the hopes they get some blinged burner runner. Real answer is honestly, start getting into running burners. Its where the real lv4 isk is anyway. Itll take time to get your standings high enough for mass declining and to learn how to fight them well but its worth the payoff.
>>2050430I stopped watching any CCP stuff once CCP Guard left cuz he made them cool. Now they're generic business corporate but they get brownie points for >making the only decent spaceship game>being non-Swede scandis>not being anywhere near as woke/bad as most modern Vidya Corporate

Fighters can no longer warp and engage outside of its hosts grid, you need specific module now for that.
>"Mining Destroyer"this name makes no sense
>You can speedtank the sites with a 1200dps Typhoon semi-afk and make twice the money an Ishtar makes.Doubt. Praxis, the best PVE BS for drones, makes a little more than Ishtar with all V skills. Maybe ~20% more but not twice. Auto-missiles of course.

>3rd party database>identifies anyone who's killed explorers and miners and reds them. You're never catching anyone ever except clueless newbros.
who are you quoting schizo
>>2055430As someone who built a tool to do just that, there is nothing that can save some of these people, so I wouldn't worry too much. People still mine AFK in lowsec, nullsec, wormholes, to say nothing of high sec. They'll still fly ORE Strip Miners with zero tank and die to a pair of catalysts. I remember one guy on comms talking about jumping a marauder he bought in Amarr through Ahbazon to get back to Jita despite me telling him there is literally an active gatecamp on the way he's going with 30+ people on the other side, your cloak+mwd will not save you, and he still did it and lost the ship. He of course respawned in Jita and swiped his credit card to buy another marauder. All of these ganks, no matter how much some people improve and learn from their mistakes, there's still a horde of mouthbreathing retards who will continue to feed ships and never grow one iota wiser. Even mining in a belt in HS one day, I started inviting people to fleet so I could warp them off when gankers appear even if they went AFK. One guy in a Mackinaw refused to join and of course was the one who died because of it. You can't save these people from themselves, so gankers will continue to farm killmails because of it.
>buy plex cause it always go up or sideways and i need to buy omega time again soon>lose 30bend my fucking lifeCCP WHERE IS NES SALE!?
>>2055764There is literally a sale on right nowFor plex
>Carrier buffsPVE buffs for ship class that doesn't have any PVE content designed for it. Your best bet is fucking Haven LMAO. And crabbing Haven in carrier is so ass. You need to always pay attention and press buttons because NPC attack fighters nonstop. It's such miserable experience for zero isk. And marauder can farm faster because carriers have shit dps.
ive always wanted to fly an archon ever since i started playing 2 and a half years ago, and now im <2mil sp away from being able to board the ship. it will probably feel like the best achievement ive had in a vidya game, even if theyre still mid, but i will happily apply my 8m unallocated sp to make it perform at peak efficiency.
>>2055430>You're never catching anyone ever except clueless newbros.People have been crying about this forever and nothing ever happened.
>>2054746>Ishtar does 650dps>Typhoon does 1200dpsYes, twice the income. Lot of retarded nullfags out there saying they make 100mil/hr with an Ishtar when its actually closer to 60mil/hr.
>giving money to ccpnigger in current year
>>2056485100M/h uninterrupted is about right per toon if you take into account selling escalations and faction loot. Raw ISK is 60M/h at 100% BRM.The problem with the Typhoon is that ratting with it is not "semi-afk". The meager theoretical ISK increase (which is a lot less than twice the Ishtar money due to dogshit application) is not worth the effort. This is why the NS meta has been either Ishtars, Marauders or caps (when viable).
