How about a throwing/melee hybrid weapon? Like a hatchet you swing with M1 and toss with M2. Would be worse than the sword up close and worse than the throwing knives at range but make up for it with variety.

Something that does some quick bashes up close but can be right clicked to hurl in a way that does a bit of splash damage. Heavy doesn't really have a melee weapon that requires a barrage of attacks, nor a splash damage weapon that explodes on contact, so it'd be a pretty good fit for those things.The only reservations would be that it treads a bit on the Spear, and it goes a bit farther into the fantasy angle, whereas all the other weapons have so far kept themselves exaggerated but grounded.

People sleep on this, but having YOUR allies fight against YOUR enemies makes it so you never have to think about anything else other than playing the objective and winning. The Finals' 3v3v3v3 approach means you have 9 more enemies divided in 3 different teams, all working for their own goals and willing to do anything to atleast secure the second place. People can also be bad actors and tip the scale of the fight for your downfall by picking off one of your teammates during another fight. Terminal Assault aimed to fix this issue but the problem is that the game simply wasn't built for it from the ground up. One use gadgets, no respawn coins, no healing and the plethora of other problems. In the finals you have to work really hard all of the time and always stay on your toes only to maybe get the second place.

About 40 hours in, fun game. You can definitely see the Mirror's Edge influence in the level design. Weapons are nice but feel a bit unbalanced, I like how it's only 1 weapon, no ammo management. They should allow you to spend your tokens on swapping out to your Reserve items. A lot of strategies and such only thrive because you can't risk fully committing to their easily available counter, and by the same charge, a lot of items then get nerfed because they're too powerful as a counter and then would require an even sillier counter than that. Just let people pay a token to swap, simple as that.Plus there's all this tech already in place to convey a swap happening without being clunky. They can easily generate the voice lines for Scotty and June, have a little pop-up in the corner if you want, or open the scoreboard and you can see the most recent swaps with their little contestant heads and team symbols next to them.
