You ever notice how the leaves start to turn red during in-game Autumn? That's kinda neat.

Sometimes I wonder if we should talk about things we like about the game just for a change of pace.

Do they? Guess I never survive that long

We do, the issue is the negatives massively outweigh them.
Make a better game you fucking retard hack Lemmy.

I mostly like the new mapping stuff, elevation fixes and lighting.
It's hard to be positive about it though when map tools aren't released so no map developers can take advantage of them.
>>
>>1999394
Who's bright fucking idea was it to give crafting a shitload of needless restrictions?
>NOT ENOUGH LIGHT
Hey nigger I have cat's eyes and can see outside without any light, let me fucking craft.
>NO FLAT SURFACE
I AM STANDING ON A FUCKING ROAD! It's a flat surface MILES LONG!
>>
>>1999425
They should just make it so having optimal set ups give bonuses. That's way more fun than adding restrictions
>crafting on table? Faster and higher quality
is much more fun than
>you cannot craft a baseball bat with nails in it without a domestic table
When realistically that recipe could be done on the roof of a car or on the ground

You should be rewarded to engaging in the immersive stuff rather than punished for it being TOO "realistic". They could do stuff like eating at a table giving happiness, or steal some other shit from Rimworld.

They add a bunch of immersive shit just for the sake of tedium and don't use it to actually make the player enjoy the game. Being forced and being encouraged are different things.
>>
I like playing sandbox on babby mode, finding a car, and then driving around exploring and building as much of a hoard as I can carry. That's what I would want to do in the real apocalypse.

>They could do stuff like eating at a table giving happiness, or steal some other shit from Rimworld.
Rimworld penalizes you for eating without a table though

Skill issue
>>

>penalizes you for eating without a table
this is one of the few things in rimworld that really pisses me off. sure I get having all kinds of mental or emotional issues if you just watched your spouse get killed by raiders. but what kind of fucking sperg is going to flip out and start beating the shit out of people they live with because they didn't have a fucking table to eat at (and often they do and just didn't feel like pathing to it).
>>
>>1999832
you know damn well that having to eat off the ground is not the only thing that led them to having a mental breakdown
it's the straw that broke the camel's back
>>
>>1999832
It's just a minus 3 to mood, basically nothing, it's r*dditors who pretend it's anywhere near a big deal. And your colonists all have 3 different stages of mental breakdown, if they're on the first one they're not gonna beat others.

>>1999842
This. You might just take it in stride if your coworker is being annoying, but if that day you're also feeling hungry, thirsty, you had an argument before already, you have a small wound causing you a bit of pain, and you are overworked, then you might just start being aggressive towards the coworker. It's always a compound of issues in Rimworldd.
>>
>>1999832
Some comforts in a life of suffering is nice. But as other anon's laid out it's really not an issue, in the stages of the game it will be happening you're either in the very early game which has a massive moodle buff for low expectations to offset it by a factor of 10, or so late you're part of raiding parties that should already be juiced up through narcotics or other lavish things.
Or your base layout is seriously fucked both aesthetically and in a practical sense.
>>1999609
Maybe that anon cranks up the difficulty.
I can't tell you the last time I've lived longer than two weeks, the big factor stopping me from playing b42 currently is none of the fun turbo difficulty mods have been updated.
And who can blame them when they break every fucking mod twice a month for the most inconsequential shit and no option to roll back a version.

Seriously if they let you select one of the many b42 versions I think mod makers wouldn't be so hesitant to patch their shit.

>>

Yeah I agree this is a much better system.
You should get bonuses for using logically better places
>at an actual workbench
>reduces required mats by 25% and gives the item 50% more durability
etc
>>
>>2001220
>reduces required mats by 25% and gives the item 50% more durability
>magically need less mats from making it on table
Durability is fine as it's can fall into better quality. But fuck magical shit, bonuses should be realistic.

Kenshi being a game without any ultimate goals yet still being way more fun, just shows how dogshit Zomboid is.
>How many hits can you take in Kenshi at the start?
Oh, not many
>What about end-game stuff?
Well a lot more due to armor and toughness
>Okay so how about Zomboid how many hits can you take?
One?
>And later on?
Still one, anything that provides protection makes your character depressed and you won't be crafting armor anyways
How the fuck did they make a game where IRL days of grinding results in no tangible bonuses?
>>
>>2002122
The main issue with zomboid power scaling is that no matter how much armour you wear you can still dice roll a one hit. And zombies are just pretty easy to just kite or flee from even from second one that you can clear an area with your bum character with just a tool hammer you found and clear it.

In games with little in defined goals there are things that are usually what's fun: developing your character (getting stronger), building things (settlements or structures) or developing wealth, taking out/surviving notably strong adversaries. Zomboid struggles with all of these compared to kenshi. Getting stronger doesn't feel that great because there isn't anything to kill except retardedly easy zombies (which are everywhere anyways). Building strutures is pointless for the most part as you can live in a premade one and making stuff like farms and production feels pointless as a player character needs so little to survive that just looting will sustain you for 100s of hours. And this doesn't even touch on the tedium of raising the skills needed to do it. So compared to kenshi where you can fight enemies to grow your player character (fun) and automate other NPCs doing boring shit like mining and crafting so you can feed/develop larger settlements and fund cool stuff like taking out bounties and factions. Or in zomboid you can personally watch green bars fill up while you try to make a base right next to a fully functional house, so you can farm food (you have 100s of canned goods anyways) so you can... not fight zombies.

Even the chopper event which is the latter can be ignored just by staying inside or roaming around.

A lot of this would be solved by NPCs, friendly and enemy. Or at least special infected or SOMETHING
>>
>>2002138
It's just shit-tier game design where no matter what skills you have, it really doesn't offer you much.
>B-But you can make RAIN COLLECTORS!
Stay near a lake, even a tiny pond is infinite water?
>B-But uhm...Butchery skills!
Catching fish outperforms any hunting, what's next?
>Uhhh more weapon skills more crit chance!
Spears do 1 hit ko's on any crit and start with like a 50% chance to crit at level 0...
>W-Well...Fittness and strength gets higher!
Yeah if you grind them for like an IRL week maybe and fitness is still bugged and increases at a tiny fraction of strength.
>>
>>1999394
>Sometimes I wonder if we should talk about things we like about the game just for a change of pace.
I like realism. I dislike unrealistic stuff.
Example
>old farming unrealistic - bad
>new farming more realistic - good
>there too little guns compared to reality - bad
>you can change the setting to make they ammount more realistic - good
>>
>>2002207
>new farming more realistic - good
You mean 'realistic' in the sense you can't feed yourself via farming and nothing grows because being even a tiny bit out of season=total plant death
That sort of realistic?
>>
>>2002138
>A lot of this would be solved by NPCs, friendly and enemy.
NPCs would not fix it, they'd only make it worse. You're still gonna get dice roll one hit by humans (especially ones armed with guns or powerful melee weapons). They won't interact with developing your character since zomboid's combat only really cares about your skill in the damage calculation, building things is still a stupid idea because of the prebuilt houses and only player structures are destructible (and zombies are drawn to them because they are) and looting will still be plenty to sustain yourself and a bunch of NPCs, there will be just be less to loot eventually as the NPCs magically hoover up loot from locations swarmed by zombies. God help you if you expect any kind of robust automation too.
