Guild wars 1 is very much alive, we have a /vm/ guild that has been running near weekly events for 3 years now for anyone interested in doing endgame content, new players are always welcome and no prior experience is needed.>>1854477 Previous ThreadOur Prophecies 50/50 prog recently finished we will be doing prog ToPK this coming Sunday at 3PM EST, and prog FoW the week after. UW will take place later this month watch threadIf you want to join guild, post your IGN.Useful linkshttps://www.gw-memorial.net/https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/PvX_wikihttps://wiki.fbgmguild.com/wiki/Main_Pagehttps://party.gwtoolbox.com/https://kamadan.gwtoolbox.com/https://ascalon.gwtoolbox.com/https://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcomeAnd fix your sound!>https://guildwarslegacy.com/forum/thread/10525-announcing-dsoal-gw1-3d-positional-audio-and-eax-effects-for-everyone/What is DSOAL-GW1?>When GW was released in 2005, the audio component of Microsoft’s DirectX API was something called DirectSound. DirectSound had a 3D audio component called DirectSound3D, or DS3D, that could pan and amplify/attenuate sound sources based on their position relative to the camera in the game’s 3D world. PC’s with a high-end Creative sound card also had access to EAX, an extension to DS3D with a suite of hardware DSP effects for occlusion, obstruction, reverb, echo, etc. Like most games of its era, GW’s audio system was designed around DirectSound and DS3D, and owners of high-end PCs could get the “definitive” audio experience with EAX.>All that ended in 2007 with Windows Vista. Vista completely broke DS3D and EAX. Rather than fix it, Microsoft deprecated DirectSound and pushed developers to adopt its new XAudio2 API for future games. With DS3D and EAX broken, GW hasn’t sounded “right” in any version of Windows since XP.
First for Herta paizuri.
Second for real niggas in the desert
>>2003652I forgot to reply in the last thread but I would also swap out Penetrating Shot with either Body Shot if you're worried about energy management that skill can really eat it up, or Keen Arrow for better synergy with "Go for the eyes". Both skills have pretty low cooldowns, cost less, and provide better bonuses than penetrating.FGJ is probably wasted in this set up, not running enough adrenaline skills. You could probably either stick on Fall Back for sanity movement speed, another spear skill so you can run both of yours + wild throw, aggressive refrain to fill same purpose as FGJ but better DPS, or could go with something like Hex Eater Signet since your party probably tends to ball together, would be efficient hex removal. (Or the secret 5th option, run more pets to abuse TaO more)
>>2004923Damn those guys look cool as fuck
>>2004938not as cool as these zesty bucks
>>2004948Maybe there should've been one White™ Male™ Prophecies warrior to keep them happyName: Buckbreaker War (runs backbreaker build)
>>2004923k*nsuke doesnt have an imaginary friend.he has five
>>2005166who's that?
>>1899102>is there a pvp guild i can join i dont know anything about the meta, i saw some based names pop up a few times on the at, i just know necro skills, i dont play other classes they are all gay, armor is cringe it has to be crackedGo to Heroes Ascent, International District 1. Afk there until you're invited to a group, or try join groups. They will most likely expect you to know how to play, as HA is essentially just farming bots. If you ask for a build, they'll either give it to you and explain it to you, but if they're more try hard, they'll just kick you and wait for someone more experienced. Do this for a while, people will remember your name, and they will invite you to a Guild, or invite you to GvG scrims. Alternatively, you can find the QQ scrims discord. I'm fairly sure I've seen them say they're open to new players, but you might get benched if they're doing some try hard stuff. But honestly, I'd like to see [Baww] and co get into HA personally. It's like the PvP training grounds, it's not taken very seriously and it's fairly relaxed, you can get good games sometimes too if you're willing to crash people that are trying to farm halls (you should)
>>2005372Oh but you most likely won't be allowed to play a Necro in HA, most teams just focus on a balanced build, 3 monks, few eles, dervs/wars.
>>2004948
>>2005372bro should just ask cup he's a BNIFA (big name in fort aspenwood)
>>2004948Holy shit 4? years later and someone posted a non-slide show
should I use a +5 Soul Reaping mod instead of an Enchanting one on my prot monk staff?the free energy management is sick but not maxing the duration of my prots feels bad
>>2006284probably depends on your builddo you have emanagement issues? do you often have prots on cooldown waiting for energy?
>>2006297emanagement has always been a pain on Monk which is why it's so tempting, running stuff like Divine Boon and/or Blessed Aura or spamming Spirit Bond gonna feel a lot better with (effectively) 3 extra pips of energy regenon heal builds that are less enchant reliant it's a simpler choice so maybe I'll just put the mod on a heal set for now
>>2005372We do HA every year during anniversary event, I've offered in the past to run it more regularly but we often have a struggle to get enough people to show up we have a fair number of people who's total PvP experience can be summed up as "I played 1 game of RA back in 2008" which can make it difficult as there's a delicate balance between making sure new people have a good experience so they'll come back while also appeasing the sweats/people interested in slightly more serious play as opposed to afk killing bots, then getting absolutely smoked in hall of heroes by a team of 4 players who know how to relic run. I think if our guild continues to grow and we acquire more pvp sweats (like cups) we might be able to assemble a decent guild core where we have enough people who know what they are doing that we can slot in some new people and gradually teach them HA. If people are interested in this though feel free to speak up, I just think we lack the numbers for consistency.>>2005392Sadly true, but I feel like people don't give the signet of suffering build enough credit, most modern balanced teams only run PnH and draw condi on the infuse you can set up some real nasty sustained pressure on the enemy team with it.>>2006284It really depends on your prot build if you're running an elite enchant, running blessed aura, or you have multiple prots that last about 10+ seconds better off with +20%. But if you have a lot of really short prots or ones that can conditionally end quick better off using the +5 SR.Also reminder ToPK tomorrow at 3PM EST, all are welcome come with a proph/core skills only 50/50 bar.
>>2006284Anon, check this shit out.
>>2007502not him but am I actually expected to be autistically f1f2f3f4swapping at all times, especially in pvp?I know abstractly about energy hiding and high energy sets and shield sets and stuff, but it seems like peak efficiency requires me to swap before and after every single cast, and I dunno how close humans approach that in practice but I really don't want to
>>2007549I swapped a lot as a monk in PvP back in the day, in PvE rarely. I have a blood magic build I use where I used to swap to an enchant staff to cast masochism and dark aura before swapping back to my 40/40 set. I stopped because I got an oppressor's staff and that shit looks sick, so I never use my 40/40 anymore. I swap between ench%, high energy, and shield set on my running builds, but running somebody who is paying you is just intrinsically sweatier than general PvE. And I have a longbow on F4 for every character for pulling. Otherwise, I don't bother swapping. The weird/shitty input buffering on swaps is obnoxious, and if you run multiple builds, using multiple sets per build very quickly results no inventory space.
>>2007634>The weird/shitty input buffering on swaps is obnoxious, and if you run multiple builds, using multiple sets per build very quickly results no inventory space.real my sin's inventory is 50% swap gear and bro has inventory space maxxed out
TOMBS with prog rules in ONE HOUR
>>2008497I will be lateI need 20ish more minutes
Mentioned last thread but I thought this might be a fun thread topic I've made a tier list containing an image of each dungeon in the game, each week I'll post a dungeon and allow anons to vote where they think it should be on the chart by averaging out the votes, I'll tally votes every Sunday night.
>>2010726To start off with, what do people think of Catacombs of Kathandrax, I personally think it's a solid B tier contender, has a decent reward which makes it always worth running, and the fire ball of death at end of dungeon makes the boss fight memorable to me.
>>2010726>>2010729I have never completed a dungeon in my life because I was too intimidated going there as a kid.
>>2010782I was too intimidated to do any of them as a kid, but I recently went through and did all of the EotN dungeons in both NM and HM on my necro since I'm working on gwamm.>>2010729I like Kathandrax. The boss is a bit obnoxious with heroes, but at least you've got a res shrine right outside. It's got some memorable rooms, and I like how you can use the curvature of the floor in some areas to hide from wurm siege. I'd put B or A, I like it more than most dungeons.I'm not sure what I'd put S. I like Sepulchre, with the different ways you can go to unlock the doors. SoO is fun, I like having an excuse to taylor a team build to an area with some RoJway shenanigans, and Fendi Nin feels like an actual boss fight instead of just a normal mob with 10x HP like some bosses do. If I were to rerun Frostmaw's a few times, I might put it here. I found it frustrating when I went through it, but I think if I memorized the wurm pop-up locations and learned some flagging positions to deal with wurm siege, I might like it a lot more.
>>2010726i never did dungeons because there was no story
>>2010729I don't remember all the dungeons well enough to rate them.
>>2006456lol fuck you im not a sweat >>2005551man that shit pisses me off people like hex run shit builds does no damage rage quits talks shit gives me cancer i just want to play the game
>>2010726>>2010729isn't the meme that 80% of an eotn dungeon is copy/paste identicalI only remember like bogs, soo, the dwarven punching one, the spider one, the snowman one, and oola's lab. put a gun to my head and I couldn't tell you a thing about kathandrax
goddamn the tengu do not fuck around
>>2011804Starting to think it might be a good idea to start having a weekly dungeon run now lol, maybe I'll shelve this idea till we are done with post prog activities + UW. Layouts are basically copy paste, main difference is enemies, boss fights, strategies, and whatever mechanics you have to deal with.
>>2012244The Ministry of Purity was CORRECT
>>2012511>The Ministry of Purity is one of the many ministries of the Canthan empire. They have tasked themselves with cleansing the Afflicted since 1077 AE.>The stated ideology of the Ministry advocates security over freedom and Canthans over foreigners.i suspect the real reason it was formed was because an elonian showed up asking for help and then randomly opened portals to hell in the middle of kaineng
>>2012252I think the problem is that most people have uber rape comps that don't need to adapt. ok you have to adjust to the boss, but you probably won't remember everything before that unless it's visually striking or a gimmick
>>2012872There are definitely some fights and dungeons that stick out for me more than others I couldn't even tell you anything about sepulchre of dragrimmar or the last time I ran it because it had so little impact on me and I don't remember it being particularly interesting. Also I had something come up suddenly for me on Sunday, so I won't be able to make it to the FoW run
I'm do big hammer bonk on little monk
>>2016426
>>2016553Thanks tips, I already have it and the +5 str hammer mod
>finish meticulously edge scraping every map, outpost, and mission area>cartographer progress: 99.1%sigh, I guess it's time for portal hopping again
>>2018243Make sure to watch every mission cutscene. Challenge/Elite missions in Factions and Nightfall count for cartographer too
>>2018268Yeah this was in Factions. Nightfall I just finished by doing Sahlahja. In Factions I've mapped all the challenge missions already. I'm guessing I'm missing some extreme bits inside Fort Aspenwood and maybe the Imperial Sanctum banishment area. Eredon Terrace portal hop should give me a bunch too.
FoW 3 PM EST tomorrow, I will probably not be there good luck, beware of ranger traps and over agroo. Lemme know how it goes
Not sure I'll make it lads
huh, never seen a double gold item drop from a single enemy before, and this boss even dropped two identical ones
>>2019805dang u lucky
>>2019805bosses tend to double drop, I haven't seen it with golds but they do it with normal items all the timeI know there's weird shit where enemies are more likely to drop the weapons they're visually carrying, maybe that's the generated armor he was coded to wear
