>>2026911lol...
>>2026911yeah you can get an ICE outfit and a mad max outfit for when star-underwear comes out (never) only do it on stanton though, pyro is bugged
>>2026911It's the lowest effort, rushed "event" they've pushed into the game, and you can tell by how weak the rewards are and that they can't even stick to one color theme for the factions (though I like the HH fit). One positive aspect of this event, compared to the other FOMO events, is that you and your party members receive full progress on the faction you choose when sharing missions instead of splitting.
>>2026936>It's the lowest effort, rushed "event" they've pushed into the gameSo far...

If they want event participation, just unfuck salvaging a bit better, make cargo unload itself because the boxes have magnetic thrusters that are invisible and do not need additional art asset work, and make aUEC rewards good enough to attract RMT grinders, but it all gets wiped eventually, because EVENT is part of Eventually.>>2027206>Previous thread got archived on page 5. I blame the German autist>>2027216>Not sure if he was german>roblox dandy's world emergency spam to thwart /scg/ mention of distaste of GROOMERCORD...I believe discussion involving certain words is grounds for jail time in Germany at this point, like a German might go to prison for writing the word "Nazi" on any online forum, even if he/she/they/pee/poo/etc was ""anonymous"", and their life might be ruined after they are eventually maybe released. >>2030287>And you can achieve better results with a ship.AA vehicles will soon gain access to ground to air exclusive missiles which have vastly better performance. Will that make them useful? Potentially, if the power output is similar to the pre-nerf Taskforce missiles they had for like two patches since a single one of those would wipe out everything smaller than medium ship and the medium ships more often than not would lose shields or their power plants from a single one while a small handful of them could take down a constellation and the storm AA carried 64 of them. I don't expect them to actually be good though because I expect nothing from CIG when it comes to vehicles.
>>2030287>Vehicle team confirmed they don't care about vehicles at all In official star citizen Q&A, laughing at the notion they should be balanced or have a role in the game.butthole citizen indeed.
>>2030287I think vehicles with working powerplants should be made able to fly and maneuver in space outside of ""gravity"", with slow Argo-style maneuverability and full 6 degrees of freedom, max speed can be a thing to constantly buff and nerf every patch for better whale tears. If they enter a gravity well, it is duh future, so they all have some kind of parachute-analog that lets them orient while performing re-entry at a decent terminal velocity, and make a whole new jumptown sport with minimal physics flag tweaks to existing vehicle controls, add flavor thrusters later and handwave it in the meantime like everything else..
>>2030374Probably can just chaff them away.>>2030552Vehicles should be made much more durable.Vehicles should not be targetable by ships.Places like Lazarus should allow vehicles to drive there.
>>2030287Their signatures should be greatly reduced. Also the biggest failure is that neither the ursa, mtc and upcoming g12 fit in a cutlass. You need a max to transport those and theres a chance that if the freelancer gets a rework it might get more cargo but also be less useful for vehicle transport.
>>2030743you can drive wheeled vehicles to lazarus
>>2030810I believe they recently added planetary emission signatures which greatly helps mask vehicle emissions because planet emissions are subtracted against vehicle emissions so with a single cooler and shields disabled you have a <1k signature on most vehicles. and yeah I agree, size is basically what kills them because there's no practical way to transport them without a vastly larger ship so you're limited to the PTV and hover bikes for most ships. In an ideal world we'd have the option to convert them into an SCU crate for transportation purposes and just claim QD tech allows it to magically pack and unpack itself into a space efficient container but that breaks immersion too much for them so everything is relegated to the garbage bin.Honestly I genuinely have no idea why they just don't have vehicle pads randomly scattered around all the planets that're outside the range of turrets that you can land at and call in your vehicles so that you have the option of utilizing larger ships for vehicle hot drops or secure an onsite location that allows you to call-in your vehicles planetside and resupply them from there.
>>2030968I never tried, and never saw any there. Supposedly vehicles are ships too, so they should get disabled by the storm. (assuming the storm even works now, the visuals are gone)
>>2030968In fact I have never even heard any rumors that you can drive vehicles there, quite the contrary. ATLS is the only "vehicle" able to survive it, and thats because its not a vehicle. All vehicles that have a powerplant get disabled.
>>2031060>>2031055only gravlevs are disabled, wheeled stuff does just fine. it's simply that there's no good reason to take one there when the tram is automatic and much faster. in theory cyclones would be good fun and effective but the drive is a fair ways and would take a long time
>>2030552>>2030743Agree.>>2030810many of the ships where "minivan almost fits inside but you did not pledge enough shekels" really should be scaled up by 10% physical size to allow vehicles to fit.At the very least it would open up otherwise unexpected organic PVP where whales get FUN surprises for their jerkofftube onlycitizens fans.
Whats the exact aggro policy in pyro in regards to turrets? I heard that if you shoot a player every station will fire on you for a certain ammount of time (people say 5min or so) regardless of rep. Also in outposts with turrets will they aggro your ship if you open fire on someone?
>>2030287Dense forests (to the tune of Kashyyyk from StarWars), huge underground facilities, or just megastructures (space-borne or planet-side) would make them useful. Any place where space is constrained, and where ships may be able to enter but will not be able to maneuver to any degree would make vehicles useful. However, vehicles need greatly reduced signature and greatly enhanced armor to the point that a ship in the same class as a vehicle would not be able come anywhere close to face-tanking it 1v1. A ground vehicle of the same class should always out-armor and out-gun a ship, with a greatly reduced signature to boot. Also, much more available power from the same power plant due to no thrusters, and relying on (much better) passive armor than (cope) shields.
>>2031199>Dense forestsbut vehicles are unable to knock over trees in star citizen like you can in many other older games.>huge underground facilities, why no combined-arms asteroid bases?why no ToW still?why?>or just megastructureslike player-owned space stations and starbases from ""sustainable"" marketing hype videos a few years ago?like land claims, construction robots, basebuilding, Pioneer+Galaxy and more?>Also, much more available power from the same power plant due to no thrusters, and relying on (much better) passive armor than (cope) shields.shields feel like a joke, either "fart too pee poo" underpowered, or "lol something hit us?" overpowered, and when NPC FPS bullets can wound you inside of your ship's own shield bubble.even deflector shields in "star trek" are better handwavium at this point.
>>2031199I remember doing a mission at a crashed reclaimer in the middle of a forrest. The funny thing was that some players came in with vehicles, tank even. Even though it must have been absolute pain to get through the forrest.

>>2026905Star Citizen is a monthly subscription or a game that you just buy?
>>2031428Theres no sub to play SC like WoW has, and the minimum price starts at the $45 game package.
>>2031428Just try it for a week in the free fly events without paying before shelling money on a package to see if you like the game or your rig can even run it well enough to be playable to begin with. They have free fly events regularly, there is one currently close to the end of November.
>>2031442>45$ minimum package Expensive shitIs the game greedy even after buying this? Like microtransactions, package offers, buy insurance for real money. ect...
>>2031534Depends on how much of a social creature you are. If you don't mind getting into global chat and asking for someone to let you borrow a specific ship and then spending 5 minutes flying to them to pick it up, $45 will let you experience everything the game has to offer. If you don't want to socialize in a space MMO you're gonna have to pony up for those $2k ships. There's a free fly coming in a few weeks for IAE so you can try it out for free then and see if you like it.
>>2031585>$2k shipsutter waste of money unless you have an org large enough to use one. even then most players just want to fly their own shit and you need people on around the same time to be able to crew one. The owner of the ship has to also be on for everyone to be able to fly it currently.Big ships will probably eventually just be bought/crafted and owned by large orgs and called by anyone with permission in them.Once engineering is in and upkeep costs ramp up I'd imagine it will be a huge pain in the ass for under-crewed capitals. And good luck to solos they are going to be in a world of pain if they are holding out for NPC crew.
>>2031115I'm hoping someone makes an offshoot of this game that just uses mass and thrust as limiting factors and models thrust more accurately instead of "it sits it fits" fuckery. And makes better use of space so you can have sane designs that look and feel more believable.Oh and bump up the speeds so it is more space Vietnam/expanse than space ww1.
>>2031591I don't think engineering is going to do much for PVE capitals given that there's no real time sensitivity to it but I expect it to impact low crew capitals during PVP engagements.

Underground caves/superstructures would be like the underground sections of Halo, industrial mines (such as modern salt mines), or some kind of underground industrial/military installation. peak (!!!)
stinger w/ omniskys and DR-XJ2s coupled to its cannon is fucking disgusting
revenants and sawbucks are preferable for point instance gunning down of larger targets on part of the sheer damage entailed thoughbut not being tethered to ammo pools is its own reward and the flight characteristics of the stinger itself happen to work very well with a smaller capacitor pool when engaged with more nimble stuff as the name of the game is pulling the target into one's sights for the singular moments available to fire which are rarely going to drain the laser batteries anyhow and they'll simply refill in a moment amidst maneuvering for the next go
and there are distortion cannons but they're marginally less damaging as best i could see and the firing cadence of all seven mounts means that the omniskys and them will drain well before the centerline gun if an opportunity for enduring fire is encountered and leave the giant dick out and hanging whereas the capacitors of the repeaters can continue to accompany the plasma cannon for a while longergood texture to sit in the cockpit with besides, the repeaters. seven guns is quite a few things going off at once and three different flavors simultaneously is pretty cooleven the f8 is only rocking eight shooters and they're nowhere near as large on the whole
it is probably smarter to stick to the suckerpunch-Ls on the twin belly S2s all this said for maximo alfa damaje
ohthey're all conformant in shot speed anyhow so i could just put one of the suckerpunches back in to be a brainiac about it while keeping the other a repeater just to be a repeater chadand the repeater or it can be chosen to be on the same side as the center gunthat's pretty cool
has anyone else had the notion of a utility repeater besides?where you basically allocate a hardpoint for a cf laser gatling (or your preferred flavor) that can be used to 'interact' with the world in a more surgical way especially with gimbals turned on or whateverwould get its own firing group and such if it were extremely divergent and you'd wave it around like a wand as called forfirst occurred to me in a meteor with its quad s3 belly hardpoints which are very secondary to dose leonids holy shit. deadbolts played nicely before but i'd be interested in trying scatterguns on it when i next can

The point of the NDA was to encourage more videos and screenshots of bugs sent to the IC as is Evocati's main purpose, instead of people spreading them all around the different forums. tldr on the sikrit engineering test?
>>2031115Its kind of bullshit the number of ships that almost fit the Ursa and then have some random bump on the ramp making it too narrow. C1 Spirit and the Zeus Mk 2 are the biggest culprits. The idea that RSI would make an exploration ship and then intentionally design the ramp struts to block their own exploration rover is insane.
>>2031970Standard "Do everything semi-decently" step above the starter ships is 1.3 million aUEC. The starter ships should be able to run 50k aUEC bounty hunter missions just fine and complete each mission in about 15 minutes or less. So about 8 hours to get the Avenger Titan, and then another 10 to 12 to get the next step which would be the Cutlass Black. This is doing things the "proper" quest grind way. A better way is to do enough quick missions to get the 50k or so to rent a Hull-A and then stack small direct cargo missions to the same location so you make 200k a run with no risk, and an even better way is to stevedore on a Reclaimer while they salvage ships and then the pilot venmos you a cut of the profits.
>>2035684This is almost certainly due to the ursa medivac completely fucking up the risk/reward system of respawning. So they have to find some way to not have every ship become a mobile respawn point from just shoving a nursa in the back.

I don't believe engineering will kill off "solo" cap ships or change anything really, but if you'll indulge me.When we talk of "soloing cap ships" in the current live environment, what we all mean is just the act of piloting your ship by yourself and flying from point A to B, and engineering won't do anything to stop that. No, what engineering means, at least in the short term, is that ships no longer instantly explode from reaching 0% HP and can be restored from their "soft death" state, which will create opportunities for pirates who manage to disable these behemoths to actually commandeer them for themselves.Cap ships are currently oppressive because they serve as massive HP pools equipped with automated PDCs that easily handle anything smaller than an MSR. Also, their (expedited) claim timers are still quite fast, so they're almost always more present than not. As far as we know, engineering doesn't do anything about those aforementioned points either; instead, I foresee a much more brutal reality for solo bobs when CIG gets around to drastically increasing the claim timers on all ships proportional to their size/role and the introduction of tiered insurance preventing easy restocking. Although they've tried to do that twice in the past, the buggy nature of this tech demo always made them reverse course, so I don't expect that anytime soon. For now, we have the Perseus releasing in less than a month for IAE, and if you own one and can get a couple of tards to man the twin S8 turrets, I believe it will make any solo bob think twice before bringing out their Idris/Polaris. Atmospheric flight (coming sometime in the next decade), killing the cancerous nose-down meta, will be another blow to solo ships camping ground locations, and so on.TL;DR: While I believe engineering won't change much for cap ships in their current state, introducing an aggressive insurance mechanic at some point will invoke more seethe on spectrum than engineering ever could.
>>2037385>>2037392Single seaters and older ships that won't have physicalized components when engineering makes it into the live environment will have a "temporary" repair mechanic they can use at the press of a button on the MFDs. How it works as of the most recent tech-preview is that a ship component has to be completely dead before it lets you repair it via the MFD, but only up to 20%, and you can only do it once per component.
>>2037450"nose down meta", please explain to me why thrusters capable of >1g+(w/n) where g is the gravitational force of the planet, w is the weight of the ship, and n is the number of thrusters firing. Please explain why a ship wouldn't be capable of facing downward. (Hurr durr big thrustas on da back) if you knew anything about rocket engines and thrusters you would know those "Big thrusters" area actually meant for a vacuum and LESS effective the closer they get to sea level. Let me help you, you DONT LIKE when ships face down because it LOOKS DUMB. BLAME CIG for not allowing any tools for landing cameras, controllable pilot directional weapons and cameras, etc. Players have different ideas of what looks good and what looks dumb, my friend thinks its "ridiculous" when big ships point straight up into the sky and take off, but isn't that what current rockets do? Point their most powerful thruster package down and fly "up". The would rather every large ship have a VTOL animation where every ship pivots its "biggest thrustas" like the reclaimer. But he doesn't seem to understand that the thrust could equally be applied if the ship was facing straight up. What you people want is compromise, I believe ships should be able to nose down but at extreme cost depending on the gravity of the planet, atmospheric conditions, weight of the ship, and quality of the thrusters. It should burn fuel at an incredible rate, and risk overheating the thrusters. Sound fair? No? Go fuck yourself, this is the only way every is kind of okay with the outcome.
>>2037525Calm yourself faggot.>I believe ships should be able to nose down but at extreme cost depending on the gravity of the planet, atmospheric conditions, weight of the ship, and quality of the thrusters. It should burn fuel at an incredible rate, and risk overheating the thrusters. This is exactly what the atmospheric flight model does and was even demonstrated in engine a couple shitcons ago (find it yourself), and If you have knowledge of tinkering with the engine, you can even enable an early version of it in arena commander.

So a friend gifted me a Cutter and it's pretty neat. After spending some alone time with the game , I just don't get it. What's the appeal of the game? Why do you guys play? Not trying to be an asshole but I'm genuinely curious, I want to know as an outsider. Especially for the people that have been playing for awhile. I think this game has been worked on for 10+ years but it feels like the bare minimum. Ship detail is cool but that's kind of it? Stations feel copy and pasted. I was excited to find out Ptro and it's gangs but each station feels the same. It has no personality. The combat feels bland because it's nothing really feels like a threat since npc ai doesn't seem to function. Yeah the space ships are cool but after reading the history of Chris Roberts and his history with game development and movies etc, it feels like it's basically the hook to keep the money rolling for all the kids that grew up on star wars back in the 80s and now have disposable income. Also, it's kind of fucking weird that all the random people I met in that game have those big capital ships are way too eager to invite you and then ask you to fly their capital ship. I mean the community is nice but something just feels off with these capital ship people.
>>2039547>nothing really feels like a threat since npc ai doesn't seem to functionWe're due for a server reset sometime this week which should resolve that. They're extremely lethal on server resets because the server isn't bogged down with trash that slows down their response speed. Ultimately what do you do in Star Citizen? Whatever you want. You need to find what loop you really like to do, for me it was salvaging ships until they ruined the gameplay loop last patch but I'll probably get back into cargo now that the Tractor guns actually move shit. Taking pve bounty hunter contracts and then looting their disabled ships while not particularly profitable is something I find pretty fun.
>>20395471. Make your own adventure as different "careers" (eg. Combat pilot, Soldier, Trader, Hauler, Miner, Salvager etc.) [main progression is money]2. Do the "current" content, so effectively the FPS content (cz, Hathor, farro, Lazarus, onyx) [main progression is gear]3. Optimal money making through uex4. Grief other players trying to do any of the above5. RoleplayThese are your options with the only added flavor that you can do them in a group.I wish I knew some roleplayers - so I don't know if they exist, but the game is pretty perfect for it (outside of bugs which are a problem any way you play)
>>2039502>EXTREME CHANGES INCOMING, FEATURES UNVEILED!!!>The life of a solo player in star citizen (look at the massive red pointy arrow and text you dumb 5 year old)>BAD THING! (but we say good thing)Slaves to the algorithm begging for scraps
>>2039547there is nothing to do you need to set your own goals or make your own sandbox content with friends
>>2039547Stations are more copy paste than most things, cities and planets are pretty unique especially in stanton, but what we're all waiting for is long term progression stuff. You're right, the game is unfinished. It's good friendslop now waiting for a greater purpose and filling the void with monthly events
>>2040407The problem is the events are mostly easily forgettable carrot on a stick cosmetic/gear treadmill bullshit with no impact on the game world and boring solo grind slop. The underlying missions/contracts are boring as fuck.ASD facilities and the snake were cool though and a bit more repeatable.Where are functioning Xeno threat and Siege of Orison like events? Those were at least fun even as a solo hopping in with randos when they worked once in a blue moon.
Is this game any good yet? Was watching some youtube vids and it actually looks kind of cool but how's the gameplay loop?
>>2041880Imagine playing the game, and it feels awesome, so you decide to invest time in it, then randomly, at any point between when you first spawn, and the game crashes, the game crashes, and you lose all progress. Now imagine this as 19/20 play sessions. That's the gameplay loop.>mfw playing star citizen

I'm probably going to spend 2k on a full Virpil setup this nigger friday
>>2046097It's good shit, learn how to setup with>joystick gremlin >vJoy>HidhideLearning curve was very steep for me but when I made progress I can't see myself playing without them.If you know some python you can program the behavior of the LEDs and virtual hardware as well by writing your own little python scripts that serve as plugins in joystick gremlin. Probably easier to do these days with the help of AI LLMs.hidhide is used to hide devices you don't want the game to see such as your real physical hardware.vJoy is used to create virtual devices that do not change order on boot in star citizen or other games.Joystick Gremlin is where you bind actions to inputs both virtual and physical. It doesn't have drag and drop configurable commands like logitech's which is a pain but still has a lot of powerful features built into one graphical interface. I read that the developer behind JG was working on a newer major version with a lot of QoL updates but no idea when that will come out.I'm waiting on game glass to allow binding actions to joystick axes and buttons, with any luck it would work with virtual hardware such as vJoy as well which opens up a lot more options for me on tablets and phones.

So apparently the Tech Preview cuts the ranges on weapons again, ostensibly to make it more "balanced" between light fighter and the rest. I don't really see how, considering the main benefit of light fighters is doing a fast orbit around other ships.
>4.4.0 has actual human traffickingI told you slavery was gonna thing brosFlesh trade best trade
>>2054937The fighter can stay at a distance where it can dodge bullets in the travel time of the bullet.Because large ships cannot maneuver as well, they cannot really avoid taking damage at the same distance. So a fighter pilot can stay at 2+km, take no damage by evading, but always land shots on the slower ship. The change forces fighters to be closer to large ships, so avoiding bullets is more difficult as there is effectively half the time to react than before.
>>2055168Larger ships should have smaller ships screen them anyways, so I don't really see a problem with fighters being able to plinking away at a capital ship for hours without being caught.
>>2055568The issue isn't light ship against capital ship, the issue is light fighter vs heavy fighter or multirole. When you have 4 gladiuses killing 6 paladins the system's fucked. They really just need to flat out admit that one size fits all doesn't work and add inherent equipment bonuses to hulls. Namely, manned turrets should have a bullet velocity bonus to make up for the difficulty to keep on target while a pilot is maneuvering. Or be able to enable autogimbals without the rate of fire penalty.
>>2055568Do you play the game?Plinking fighters can remove engines, and depending on the mood of ship designers the capital ship may or may not be complitely reliant on engines destroyable by light fighters. While capital ship - or any ship really cant hit with its turrets anything smaller than an ares.
>>2055619That's the entire shtick of light fighters, however; being maneuverable enough to stay out of reach of heavier foes. You buff manned turrets to be able to catch and outgun a light fighter by default you've removed their reason for existing. You lower their maneuverability (lowering the skill ceiling), again you've removed their reason for existing. In my opinion if you really had to nerf light fighters, (further) lower their other capabilities; firepower, ammo, and/or fuel capacity (max travel range via QT fuel and/or engagement time at combat speed via hydrogen). >>2055699Again, larger ships should be screened by smaller ships. A lone capital ship operating in potentially hostile space should NEVER be a good idea.
>>2055721>A lone capital ship operating in potentially hostile space should NEVER be a good idea.CIG apparently disagrees. The turrets will be useful.
>>2055733>CIG apparently disagrees. The turrets will be useful.Yes, because they now need the money, badly. The Sale now informs their priorities: >Best in class>Punches above its weight>(Un)limited capital ship sales>and here is why that's a good thing
>>2055568Problem is that larger ships specifically dedicated to defeating swarms of light fighters (hammerhead, Redeemer) are destroyed with no chance to fight back. The role of light fighters is a fast response ship that can outmaneuver larger fighters and swarm medium and smaller ships. Light fighters are intended to not even be capable of damaging larger ships due to ship armor exceeding the penetration levels of light fighter weaponry, which is where heavy fighters and bombers are supposed to come in but armor doesn't currently exist so there's no reason to take heavy fighters because light fighters functionally accomplish the same thing but do it better because of much higher agility. A single fury for example can completely dunk on a fully crewed hammerhead because it has the same weapon ranges except it can't miss and can reposition faster than the hammerheads weapon projectiles can travel which makes it immune to return fire if it simply doesn't stop strafing
>>2026905I hope that we have people to do heavy military driven roleplay in SC. Just watched a streamer get filtered by engineering. All his power plants are spitting fire but he won't hold the fire extinguisher on it for more than a minute, and failed to observe that the 30 seconds he had the fire extinguisher on it did reduce the temperature. Then gave up and complained about his ship being bugged.
Also, it's going to be a hurdle for people understand that heat won't just up and disappear in a vacuum, so venting your ship won't stop the source of a fire if the source is a 12000 degrees hot component while none of your coolers are working.

>>2059152The only difference in space is the pressurization of the ship and lack of gravity, which makes fire spread in explosive combustion. Often the air mixture is also a bit rich so it favors fires. However as soon as the fire has consumed all oxygen (should be pretty fast), it dies out.The heat will radiate through spreading in the ship, and very slowly dissipate. The smoke will make the ship uninhabitable until its scrubbed - however the ship would also have a headache inducing smell forever.
>>2059588Some anon said that as long as the day names are some kind of pagan-meme - the patch is not close to coming to PU. Once the day names change to actual adult day names you know the patch is going to be playable soon. And it seems to check out.
>>2059152Fire extinguishers exist to deprive a fire of oxygen by smothering it in a retardant, liquid or both. I might be stupid but IIRC fire has a distinct lack of oxygen in a vacuum, which kinda makes them redundant.
Was very interested in the hull c but man is it just so out of date compared to how the hull a looks and functions. Is there any chance of them every updating old ships? If not I'm just gonna skip the hull c.
>>2062307Hull C was flight ready over 6 years ago before they had all the tech needed for it to function in the PU, and only updated it enough for its eventual live release. The chances of them going back over it again are slim to none like most ships flight ready.

Funding passed 500 million around October 2022.It will hit 1 billion next year, meaning that in roughly 3.5 years they made as much as they did in the previous 9+ years.2024 to now saw some of the most meaningful updates like the map rework, new MFDs, HUD, server meshing, dropping both the Idris + Polaris, and most of the content that people are actually playing like ASD, and combat/trading for wikelo. Before then was the drought of features and content, server meshing with pyro was delayed from 2020 until just earlier this year. The developments of then were jumptown, full persistence, half-baked salvaging, not bounty hunting v2, DCs that were forgotten, and things that broke upon 4.0 like racing and siege of orision.2.0 released in 2015 and was around the first time I played. PO was the only spawn area and you could go touch a thing at the covalex station or comm arrays or shoot other players at SPK. Area 18 was accessible through the menu with nothing to do in it, it was just a level you loaded in/out of.2016 introduced the first shops to PO, adding persistence to your money + equipped items, grimhex, and some investigation missions. I don't know how CR thought S42 would be done that same year. 3.0 released around Christmas 2017 and added the first moons you can seamlessly land on along with Levski, ATC, cargo, mobiglas, and raised the player cap from 24 to 50. 3.0 also brought the old ship MFDs, the starmap and contracts, ship heat mechanics, and inner thought interactions that have since been reworked.Pretty much every weapon, ship, station, and game mechanic prior to 3.0 has been reworked or removed, except for grimhex and parts of Levski's interior once it is re-added. 2014-2017 made progress that was largely wasted. 2018-2020 built stanton and made progress. 2021-2023 was slow and misguided. 2024 had decent progress and 2025 was content instead of features.
Do you think Star Citizen will ever go back in the sandbox direction? These themepark ideas have me weepin...
>>2063851The cope is that the a-team is working on S42 so when that releases the game wil start going back to being good.
>>2063851Never, that's why they teased instanced tow 2.0
>>2063851>>2063869Consider whether Chris Roberts, known for his single-player campaigns and having dedicated 14 years primarily to SQ42 without any experience in making an MMO, will invest the same effort and time into the PU once SQ42 is released. No, he won't. It doesn't matter in the slightest if he immediately goes forward with Episodes 2 and 3 or not; he has no clue what to do with the PU, and it's clear he wants to continue holding the reins instead of giving more responsibility to people under him who would be much better suited.2025 was the year of theme parks, but CIG constantly referred to them as "sandbox content." That's all that needs to be said on how CIG will be crafting the PU going forward, and your best bet at sandbox content will be whenever a lucrative trade exploit is found at an open PvP ground location (again).

>If there’s one thing every captain needs to take to heart as they prepare to journey across the stars it’s “expect the unexpected.” With a cargo bay, medical facilities, and crafting capabilities, along with Drake’s practical design sensibility, the Clipper is the perfect all-arounder for any new spacefaring enterprise.

>For centuries, Roberts Space Industries' has prided itself on crafting vehicles that not only meets the pilots needs but exceeds expectations. While the RSI Salvation may seem like a simple salvaging craft at first glance, every detail from the salvaging arm, the onboard processing plant, to the convenient external storage has been refined and optimized to make even an amateur feel like an expert.

>>2066320>Same shit for the Perseus. >>2066221It's six of one, half dozen of another. The Fortune and now the Salvation will be easier to pair with a cargo hauler in group play.Technically the Fortune has an internal hold for component loot, it's just too small to be useful.
I think all the idiots comparing the Perseus to the Polaris are obscuring the comparisons that should be made to the Hammerhead.I don't even fly anything larger than a Freelancer and it's obvious the Hammerhead needs a facelift. Perseus has better anti-fighter dps than the "anti-fighter" ship because of PDS.
>>2066698Uppity perseus niggers got too high on their own farts and somehow started to believe it would be a genuine threat to idrii and polarii. When it actually gets into the game it'll be fun to see it get shit slapped by those instead of people using it to kill large ships - it's actual intended role.

>>2066320that's what I'll be doing with the Cat, king of ships. crafting station in one bay, refinery in another, a bay for refined materials and one for ore bags. >>2066709with the ballistic changes coming those s8s could be a big threat to those slow ships huge powerplants especially if you consider it can rush those ships with nav and have turrets aim faster than nose can spin. 17k alpha from both turrets (damage through shield)

>>2067133Anyone else kind of hoping for a manual construction process with reverse scraping?Like I can imagine station construction involving flying an ARGO MPUV-C to a staging dock set up by a pioneer, loading it with 8 scu of steel, and then flying over to a holographic blueprint and spraying it down. Make it so drones can still do work automatically but manual piloting and extra construction ships are faster.
>>2067125Is it possible to grey market large concept ships without selling the full account? My brother has a BMM from the original concept sale so it's only $250 if he melts it, and a Starfarer he wants to get rid of because they moved its originally stated purposes to the Expanse and the Liberator. I personally think he should find a way to sell the BMM and CCU the Starfarer to a Galaxy with the money.
>>2066709It really feels they read "sub-cap slayer" as a description of the guns in the concept brochure and went totally insane when they got the S8 buff. To me its obvious the moniker only applies to the guns themselves which'll probably be shared with other larger ships. The brochure is pretty damn clear the Perseus is a patrol/escort/merchant defense ship. It's supposed to keep Corsairs, Starlancer TACs, and M2s away from your Hulls in group content, not go head to head with Idrii in org fights.>>2066320My dream is they turn the useless open space in the port fore of the Zeus ES cargo bay into modular grid space to install a crafting station. Of course the ideal would be for them to remove the bench from the bunkroom and move the wall back to install two crafting stations.
>>2067278>cutterCLIPPERfuck
>>2066322Probably they're going to make it so the PDS only works if there's someone manning the vehicle.I just want something that can fit in a Zeus or Cutlass that has an enclosed interior and pilot guns so I can drive around settlement missions on Terminus and Pyro I without needing to check my suit temperature. The whole "we need to make it so the Ursa can't fit because Nursa" thing is such balls.
>>2066326>Clipper IRL is a fast cargo ship.>Clipper ingame is a multirole with maybe 16 scu total.I know they love using C names for Drake, but that's a fucking Dhow if anything.
>>2067278>Small footprint, can land anywhere an Aurora can>Wings for aerodynamic performance>Every function you need to live off-grid>Firepower and maneuverability to deal with mid-tier bounties>Pure function over form
>>2066340It feels like there's a function over form team at CIG that designed this and the Grey Market Shiv. It's purpose built to fit the "daily driver" asks on Reddit while being ugly enough to not kill sales for the Cutlass/C1/Freelancer/Zeus.
>>2067278how do you get in once the hold is full
>>2067381So apparently there's a separate elevator that comes down right in front of the ramp. It makes me wonder if the entire ramp is cargo grid.
>>2067376kinda wish they put the components in the cargo bay, gona be awkward to manually replace shit thru the ladder hole
>>2066685When i was introduced to the game in 3.22 one of the first activities i did with the friend who sold me this crack was salvaging, while he scraped with vulture i removed cargo and guns to cutlass black, and emptied the hopper and salvage cargo to the cutlass, sometimes flew to station to store it and back. Even upgraded to corsair for extra space to do it efficiently. Then my crack dealer got bored and i was left to my own devices essentially ever since.
>>2067411Prowler taught cig nothing
>>2066698>>2066709I mean perseus was marketed as such. But as i said in >>2066325The real reason people might not enjoy their perseus after having polaris is because perseus is not a "moving base ship", you can try to outfit it as such but it will not work. Too small cargo, too short range on t3 medbeds, no hangar, too squishy, too short range and slow to project any threat
>>2067534PTU update, what's new someone spoonfeed me like the retarded baby I am googoo gaga
>>2067665Hotfix, no further info about it though.
>>2026905Are gray market ships still selling at 60% of melt?
>>2031591I was made to understand that the Javelin, etc would be in-game as stripped down ships and would require the working capital of a medium/large sized org to outfit and staff. So every time an insurance claim went out for a javelin it would come back and require weapons refits, modules, food/fuel/ammo, torpedoes and missiles, and the complement of small fighters it hosts. That being said, the number of whales in this game far exceed the amount of ships a full server will need. Ergo, anyone with a $45 sub will be in as much demand as someone with large capital ships in their hangars, and there's no need to go out of your way to spend money simping for server development. CIG should focus more on recruiting low level subs than selling massive ships.
>>2067872They rolled back on that, it comes fully outfitted with all components and weapons.
>>2031591>And good luck to solos they are going to be in a world of pain if they are holding out for NPC crew. There's a lot of shit in this fucking game that won't work unless they get NPC crews working.I remember people telling me that volumetric gas exchanges between compartments wouldn't be a thing.
>>2067908It still isn't, even in the tests.
>>2067911Have you played the tech preview?
>>2067411Hopefully you can drop shit on the elevator and not have it fall through when you send it up.
>>2067929No but I have seen videos from people who have and there is no gas exchange room from room, opening all the doors in a msr for example then opening the ramp in the back doesn't depressurize it in the cockpit, it takes many minutes for that to happen in game right now. Also most all ships now have air shields seemingly for everything as opening doors, ramps, and elevators don't depressurize everything in seconds.
>>2068022Each room has an oxygen level that depletes with fire. You can also purge individual rooms of oxygen to deprive the fires of fuel, not just open all the doors and hope for the best.FoxyLoxy was talking about it having some issues, but yeah, gas exchanges are here.
>>2068030So it's not atmosphere then, it's timed event versus a volume that slowly empties or whatever but they don't share that volume across multiple open rooms. It's literal magic
>>2068116Well yeah, it's a videogame. Same reason why early PU days had men without space suits being jetted around by vapors coming out of their nipple textures. But atmospherics is still a thing that exists now.
>>2067908>>2067929>>2068030FYI I did this to my own game proto in like 4 days.It all depends on where they set the bar. You could have NPC crew for years now, its just not enough for CIG that the npc's sit on your turrets.
>>2068116what do you want, fucking voxel air?
>all this Perseus wankingso is it actually coming, did they give a date? or is it just because it's at IAE? Didn't they have the Polaris at IAE like, 3 years before it released?
>>2068324Take a wild guess (you only get 1).
>>20654641965 jet gun fighter speeds.so like absolute max speeds just of Mach 1.4 ish (asl, so ~1000 mph ~ 500m/s)two light fighters closing head on is Km/s Closure with larger ships in indirect intercepts being slower.but full "sphereical" 6dof with strafing and reversing fighting.yogi can piss off with his arbitrary "egg shaped" velocity limits. If anything you should be able to cap out you velocity backwards if were gonna have a cap, cus backwards is where you have you best "braking" via your main thrusters. So like highest accel is forward but highest top speed is reverse, this would also allow the reversing craft a way to eventually break contact if they so wished, by reaching and maintaining a higehr top speed in a backwards drift.
>>2068322No you dumb nigger, I don't want the air arbitrarily stopped by open doors due to being in different rooms and cigs constant incompetence.
>>2068380you don't know how anything works
>>2068336I think the whole thing would be fixed with semi-realistic thruster/engine configuration. Most of the ships in Star Citizen are unable to strafe without doing crazy maneuvers to get engine thrust to correct vector - Let them. Most ships in Star Citizen do not have retro thrusters making the ships have to rely on flip and burn - let them. The arbitrary limits (outside of outright max velocity) are just ineptitude in design.
>>2068423The imbalance in engine/thuster power to certain directions is absolutely crazy in Star Citizen. Since its there, why rely on scifi magic to make the ships be able to do the maneuvers? When you could just let certain ships be shitty at certain movements due to lacking thrusters to that direction.Eg. Here is this arrow, look at the disparity on engine/thruster size. It should be clear to anyone this ship can only turn on a very forward vector and due to inertia will have a very hard time changing vector. The thrusters on the ship will make strafing completely meaningless in comparison to the big engine thrust. So if you wanted to turn 180 on this fighter, your best action would be to cut thrust, turn, and then burn - essentially - a flip and burn. Now we can be generous and attribute some thrust vectoring to the main engine etc etc. But the ship has no top thrusters? so you could make it be its weakness...Come on CIG ffs.
>>2068324It's parked at IAE on the PTU right now anon.
