can't wait to teabag larpagans as my based Catholic Arthurian Paladin
>>2034032>upcomingit's been upcoming for almost 2 decadeswhat's different now?
>>2034033Based. Then take their large mushroom women.
>>2034049I guess they ran out of fuck you money. They've been preaching December for 6-months now.
>>2034091I mean I had completely written it off but if they produce something I'll give it a try
I'd like to have hope but idk
Golems are pretty cool.
I thought the game was cancelled after the devs blew the money on another game they were working on which instantly flopped.
>>2035073Nah, they got extra money from investors to hire new people and build both games in parallel. They've focused most of their efforts on the engine, so the game is definitely way behind. The other game (FSR) closed down earlier this year. With that said, it looks like they've been building effectively on Camelot Unchained for about 2-years.A new announcement just dropped:"Howdy @everyone,Please join us tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, 2025 3:00 PM EST for another developer livestream! This time around we'll be joined by Aaron, our Environment Artist, to discuss some of the work he's put into the game and showcase his development process.https://www.twitch.tv/UnchainedStudio"
>>2034032none of those youtube videos work. The art style is nice and I really liked age of reckoning. I will play the beta but they really fucked the pooch with their PR and burned a lot of bridges.
>>2035183desu i thought this was supposed to be out years ago
>>2035183Not sure what happened there. I pasted this text into my IDE, so I may have formatted some of it by mistake.Videos:April 2025 General Updates Video: https://youtu.be/ekhpRojvfW0August 2025 Group Video:https://youtu.be/XWmchfy5ShcSeptember 2025 Veil+ Video:https://youtu.be/y8aWAnmQ3Y0
So what features are going to be in at beta launch? Is it just going to be a pvp free for all? Hopefully there is some pve content as I fear server pop will be super low until it shows potential.
This thread is exactly what will happen on launch.
>>2036605Seems like 6 of 18 zones + crafting + 18 classesThere are PvE Points of interest that you harvest crafting mats from. It's not super clear which systems are fleshed out. It's definitely going to be a niche game. You didn't hear it from me, but IT testers are already in the game and testing.
>>2037648>exactly what will happenhttps://youtu.be/QM_ldNIrXYAThroat singing at launch
thought this game was a rugpull, there's really a release coming?
>>2038208Yep, early access in 2025.
>>2034032Looks decent. The reddit is giga mad, though.
>>2042206They're lacking the refined NEET taste for gaming. Just use mom's credit card.
New Veil Mechanic Video:https://youtu.be/Hqn-jsYuewQ
>>2048051tldw it for me, what is the veil and why would I want it?
>>2049432It adds a second stealth mechanic and third vision consideration. In most MMOs, stealth is a low skill cap ability that gives rogues a massive strength and information advantage. The veil adds additional skilled based mechanics to the paradigm. You have to consider the casting time, resource cost, and surrounding enemies when using it. When using it correctly, you'll gain quasi invulnerability, additional damage abilities, general freedom of movement. That said, the veil is an overarching theme they've been working with since the beginning. As development continues, we'll likely see veil storms (unlikely at launch) that will alter the battlefields when too many players are zerging in a specific area. This helps thematically control realm imbalances.
Is this game basically DAOC 2?I never played DAOC but I like older styled mmorpgs, does it have any sort of pve at all or is it strictly pvp focused?
>>2051209Yep, basically DAoC's sequel. From what we know, there will be limited amounts of PVE to gather crafting resources. Most (likely all) monsters won't drop items or gear in the traditional sense, but they'll be skinnable or harvestable in some way. These mobs will congregate around points-of-interest that you'll need to capture before gathering. The game is almost exclusively open world PVP/RVR except for 1 safe zone per realm for new players and certain crafting/housing activities. There's also an open world pinnacle dungeon planned with more dangerous monsters and pvp.
>>2051298AhSounds cool but also a bit disappointing, I would have really enjoyed a traditional mmorpg with equal amounts of pve and world pvp.We rarely get mmorpgs that have cool playable monster races like this game has. Also not sure if it will have a large enough playerbase to support 3 seperate factions balancewise
>>2034032wasnt this shit kickstarted at the same time as shartcitizen? how is it still not out
>>2051333The founder (Mark Jacobs) likes hookers and cocaine is my guess. They've restarted development of the game 3 separate times while building their own bespoke GFX engine to support 1,000 player battles. The development started in 2013, so it has been 12-years of pain. With that said, they're still an indie studio that has done most of this on less than $40,000,000 dollars. That's mostly unheard of for MMOs, and in 2025 dollars is an exceptionally small budget.
>>2051304They might not have enough players to sustain it, but the community was always pretty niche. We'll just have to see what they manage to complete by early access. If there's a good base, and UCE manages to survive the first year or two, we might have a mainstream contender. It could also just be a massive flop. Success will hinge on whether those big 500-1,000 player battles can ever happen.
>>2051619Mark Jacobs was pretty cool though, back during the warhammer reckoning days on the very first PTR server held for the game shortly after launch I put in a long test report about healing spec warrior priests needed resource regen like their counterpart and specifically called him out in my report, within the week warrior priests got regen books.Gave me a massive deal of a respect for him, literally one of the only vidya devs I actually respect.
Did they drop the create-a-spell nonsense and the twenty targetable body parts idiocy? What about the idiotic synchronous minecraft destruction rubble white elephant?
>>2051333They built their new engine from scratch and they kept chasing insane functionality that no-one needed like realistic and synchronised destruction of arbitrary player built structures. Then their star developer who was building the engine got poached by facebook for the metaverse and they never managed to get the expertise together to effectively work on the engine. At some point like a year ago they kicked into actually delivering something mode. Maybe they got some funding conditional on releasing or maybe they hired a project manager worth shit or maybe the schizo on their forums threatening legal action had a real claim.
>>2054165They dropped ability builder after running into UI issues. Limb and blood damage was cut, too. CUBE has a standalone client, but it's unlikely to be included at launch.Doors are destructible, but I'm not sure overall structure destructibility will be in for another year or two after EA.
>>2054303Their forums and Reddit have some really mentally ill haters, lol... I get disliking a game, but these people follow it with an obsession and hard SJW on every post for how evil Mark and the company are. They're actual retards. At this point, I hope it can at least do slightly to moderately well just to watch them seethe.
>>2034032>RvR... what?
>>2057488realm vs realm, it just turns into giant zerkfests and is boring af 99% of the time.
>>2057488Realm vs Realm. Sort of open world pvp delineated by factions like WvW in Guild Wars 2. "RvR" is a trademark of EA's so they can't actually use the term lmao.
Video on audio and music development for CU if you're into that kind've thing. It starts in an hour.>Please join us tomorrow, Thursday, November 13, 2025 3:00 PM EST for our developer livestream series, Bring Out Your Devs! In this edition, our Technical Sound Designer, Ken, returns to delve into the audio and music of Camelot Unchained.https://www.twitch.tv/UnchainedStudio
>>2057786For a devs of game that looks like it is made by some hobbyst and was in development for 12 years they sure like trademarks
>>2038159So, early access is confirmed for December. Crazy.Hilarious that both Ashes and CU have people freaking out about steam. They're totally right to do that, btw. The funniest part is the difference in their monetization and development. Ashes is UE5 slop with gratuitous MTX (well over 20-million from their store and Kickstarter), while CU built a custom engine and charges a sub with 0 pay2win on a small number of player donations and private investment ($4 million from Kickstarter and store).
>in development for 12 years>they finally decide december 2025 for early access>the same month Ashes of Creation, another decade old kickstarter MMO, is putting their early access on steamthe launch will be a disaster since AoC is much bigger and CA really only had this one shot to get new blood who doesn't feel burned
>>2063626They're both going to be a disaster if they're launched on steam. It's obvious to anyone with 20+ years of gaming experience. CU has been aiming late 2025 for over a year. Ashes just released this news a few days ago, and their community is freaking out about it. Ashes has been in development for 8-years. it's not a spring chicken. They also didn't do any custom engine work, so you could argue they've actually been implementing their gameplay loops and progression systems for longer. Either way, they're both going to get review bombed on Steam.Ashes is a totally different game/genre. The only thing these two games have in common is that they're MMOs with PvP. CU was never aiming for the PvE casual crowd that WoW, Ashes, Lost Ark, etc. are targeting. CU also has no plans for pay2win or crazy MTX stuff. It will gain people that will never look at most modern MMOs because that.
IT testing this weekend if you've got access.Store is still closed, so you can't buy in.
>>2067387>concept art for 13 years
>>2067403>Complaining about images on an image boardHoly retarded cunt alert
>>2034032This scam is still active? I thought Jacobs had sold the engine and assets, and ran with the money.
>>2035073It was a tech demo for investors at best, and their means to pull the rug. Any backer who agreed to playing it has waived their right to compensation/refund and has been reimbursed on paper. It has become a common practice for "crowdfunded projects". The very moment Ashes of Creation pulled this stunt, it was obvious to me that they'd also run with the assets and whatever proprietary tech they've slapped onto UE.
New Video dropped:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpMnccWgQo0
>>2035203This looks like a fucking parody. This is so fucking bad, no wonder they disabled all comments and nobody cares about it lol.
>>2034032this game is coming out?
>>2102594Seems that way. They're saying early access this year.News letter just dropped:https://www.camelotunchained.com/v3/theres-no-place-like-home-12052025/
>>2075077When you consider this game is meant to have massive RvR battles with 1,000+ players on screen this looks pretty good.
>>2034032wasn't this supposed to come out before covid? everyone I know who had any hype for this forgot about it years ago
>>2105648It has had so many replanning phases that most of us have stopped counting. This early access looks real, so we'll have to see what it looks like. There will be another IT testing phase this weekend, so jump in if you have access. The store is still closed, so you can't buy in.
